Fun Stuff!

sticky - this will remain on top until December 9th
I have picked a day between November 18th and December 9th. The day that I have picked I will have random.org pick a number out of the comments left and that person will win the blog candy I am giving away to celebrate reaching 20,000 hits. The thing you don't know is which day between now and then that I've picked, so it's best to come by every day and leave a comment. (if you are joining in late you need to go back to November 18th to start leaving comments)
If you have a blog let your readers know about my blog candy too! Wanna see what the blog candy is?

I've already added more to this than shows in the picture including a few of the images from Squigglefly!

Speaking of blog candy, You should head over to Artfully Ila's and see what awesome candy she's giving away.

The big news in case you haven't heard is that Squigglefly will be live in just a couple of hours! At 9AM today you can go and download images for yourself! Please let me know how you like the site and I would love to see what you do with any of the images!

I received some really fun mail recently! First off I was a winner on some blog candy that Katharina had on her blog and I won TWO Whiff Of Joy stamps!

and these arrived just in time for me to make cards to apply for Katharina's design team again! Yes, I think I'm going to try for it again. If any of you are interested in getting on her design team you can see the details here.

Now the second piece of fun mail I got is from Debby Bolton. She has a wonderful blog here and I saw a card she had on there that I thought was hysterical and she sent me the card! you can see it here

LOL! Don't you love it? She has this man reclining in a cloud of flower soft, and she scented the card with a wonderful vanilla scent from card scents. It now graces a place of honor on a shelf in my stamping room.

Now I've got to get busy making some cards! Thanks for looking!

Squigglefly News!

It's official! squigglefly will be up and running tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM

I'm so excited! Can't wait to see what ya'll do with them!

The last couple of days have gone by way too fast for me! Four days off sounded like a long time, yet here it is already Saturday!
I received the last of the cards for the One Card Swap I hosted on the RST (Rubber Stamping Together) list. You may recall the first half of this swap here. Anyway, the idea of the swap was that I would make a card and send it to the first person in the group, she would make a card trying to duplicate the one I sent her as closely as possible using only the supplies she already has on hand. She sends her card to the next person and so on until the last person sends her card to me. I had split it up into two groups and the second group ran into a couple snags with the players but it's finally complete and here are the results!

First was my card:

Designer paper, flowers - Stampcraft, verse - Firecracker Designs, dew drops for flower centers.

My card went to Kimberly Onnen and Kimberly made this:

Stamps - Floral Frenzy, ink and paper are all from Papertrey Ink.
Kimberly sent her card to Donna Bauman and Donna made this:

Flower-StampinUp, phrase-Hero Arts

Donna sent her card to Toni Pestro and Toni made this:

floral background stamp - Stampin Up, greeting - Hero Arts, little flower - Posh Impressions. The little scalloped punch is Martha Stewart and the little silver circles are from Joanns.
Toni sent her card to Laurie Gennari who completed the circle by sending me this card

flower - Stampin Up, trees - Stamp Out Cute, verse - unknown

I hope you enjoyed seeing the cards as much as I did. It's interesting to see how the cards end up different from the first one.
Well, have a happy Saturday! Thanks for looking!

I've already added more to this than shows in the picture including a few of the images from Squigglefly!

Yesterday one of the comments asked if things could be put inside the stocking/skate. Yes, there is a front and back to the stocking with a small box in the middle. It really holds quite a bit!

Have any of you ventured out to do your Christmas shopping today? I used to get up at the crack of dawn and fight the crowds to get all the deals, but this year I enjoyed sleeping in!

I had such fun making today's card. I printed out the image and colored her with copic markers. Once that was done I glammed up her gown by coloring over it with a glue pen and then sprinkling ultra fine glitter over it.

The tiara was colored with an embossing pen and then I embossed some gold embossing powder over it and added little crystal rhinestones.
The background paper is a free download from Pollycraft Designs.
The little frogs are from an unknown company. I cut them out and popped them up on pop dots. The thought bubble was just free hand cut after printing the sentiment. The font I used is called Ajile.

Isn't it nice to still have the whole weekend ahead of us? Enjoy the rest of your day, and thanks for stopping by!

Well I wasn't planning on posting anything today since it's Thanksgiving and all, but I decided to share with you something that you may have already seen on Splitcoast Stampers. It dawned on me that I hadn't shared it on my blog.
Saturday Lauren Meador's Saturday Sketch was to use her stocking stuffer template. I made the stocking into an ice skate by adding a giant paper clip to the bottom!

I punched holes on both sides and put in eyelets and used a silver cord to lace it up! The heel and toe are navy blue that I stamped white snowflakes on. It really was a fast and easy project thanks to all the hard work Lauren put into making the template!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Reading, Wishing, Reminiscing

I've already added more to this than shows in the picture including a few of the images Chesney has drawn for Squigglefly!

I'm very excited to show you today's card. It uses an image that will be available from Squigglefly. It's one that is a collaboration between my sister Lynne and my daughter Chesney.

Isn't this just a sweet image? I colored everything with copics and used a piece of wallpaper for the wall, a piece of cardstock for the baseboard, and a piece of the woodgrained paper like I used on my guitar card for the floor. I cut the chair out and mounted it on top of the wall and floor piece and added some shading to the floor under the chair. I cut out the slippers and mounted them on the floor too.
Again, I got brave with my white gel pen for highlights and I don't think I did a great job on this one; maybe went a little overboard. Oh well, I'm not not liking it enough to not show you! LOL! That's confusing!
When I showed this card to my sister she asked what sort of greeting or verse I was going to put on it. I told her that not all cards have to be sent with a purpose other than just sending someone a card. I thought about it some more later and thought ATC's (Artist Trading Cards) are just little pieces of art people trade; they don't all have another purpose (although they could).
Then I thought maybe other people would like to have an idea or purpose for the card like my sister so I thought about the image. This little girl could be reading a favorite bedtime story, looking at a family photo album, making a Christmas wish list from the Sears catalog, or reading the Bible. Wouldn't this be a cute book club party invitation? Okay, I've rambled way too much!
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family tomorrow. I'll be back on Friday!

I mentioned yesterday that I was going through images I received in some trades, and today's card uses one of those and I have no idea what company makes this image but I just love it!

Isn't it just the cutest? I'd love to know who makes this, so let me know if you know.
I colored her with copic markers and got brave with my white gel pen to make highlights. I'm always afraid after doing all the coloring to use my white gel pen.
Anyway, I printed the saying out using Bradley Hand and Curlz fonts and punched it out in a circle. The ribbon is just plain old curling ribbon that you use on wrapping packages. The only thing I thought of while I was making it is that it might not mail well. I do like the way the ribbon looks though! I fussed with it so much cutting snips off until I finally accused myself of being as bad as Monk! (If you don't know the television show you should watch it!)I sponged around the edge with red so it would go with the circle background paper which is some I donwloaded from Shabby Princess.

Tomorrow I've got another peek at a Squigglefly image, so be sure to come back! Thanks for looking!

Hey, ya'll need to go by Rhonda's blog and take a look at what she did!

Okay, so I know I said yesterday would probably be the last Thanksgiving card, but I was going through some images I received in some trades and I couldn't resist coloring this Precious Moments Thanksgiving.

I did this card the usual way; colored with copic markers and chalked the background. I didn't use any embellishments. The font for the greeting is Bradley Hand.
I hope all of you have a wonderful start to your week!

This will probably be the last Thanksgiving card I have time to make before they will need to be mailed. It's hard to believe that it's only a few days away! I'm not ready! LOL!
Anyway, this card is a long one and I used another of the shy bear images my sister drew.

I stamped it in black and embossed with clear embossing powder. I colored it with copic markers. I kind of smudged my versamark ink pad on the card base to create a sort of marbled look to the background. It's hard to see it well in the picture though. Maybe if you click on it you can see better in the larger photo.
The verse was printed on my computer with a font called Diskus D Med.
Tomorrow it's Monday again, but it's a short week this week! I hope you all have a great rest of the day, and thanks for looking!

I asked some special blogging friends of mine to help get the word out about Squigglefly and they have been making some super cute things! Be sure to stop by here and here at Sarah's blog to see what she did!

Also, check out Rhonda's blog and see this card for some more cuteness!

This morning Catherine over at Inksomnia posted this card!

I'm really glad to hear that so many of you are as excited about these images as I am. I can tell you that you have only seen the beginning!

I traded some images with a friend recently and this cute Penny Black cat was one of the images she sent me.

You just can't help but smile when you see this cat! I colored him with copic markers and cut out a square around the image letting the tip of his tail and the tip of the balloon poke out. I added white dots to the blue cardstock with a pencil eraser I dabbed onto my craft white inkpad. The last step was adding crystal lacquer to the balloon to make it shiny.
I hope you are all enjoying your Saturday! Thank you for looking!

I've already added more to this than shows in the picture!

This card is similar to yesterday's card, but I added more depth to it by creating layers for my snow. I added a snowman to the mix as well!

Once my paper was torn for the snow, I ran a line of liquid applique along the edges and sprinkled with glitter before puffing it up. The background is brayered with some navy ink and then I stamped snow dots on the background with liquid applique. This part didn't exactly come out like I envisioned. I squirted some liquid applique on a piece of cardstock and then stamped my snow dots into the liquid applique and then on to the brayered cardstock. The ink that was brayered on kind of messed up my perfect white dots. I thought the whiteness would pop out when I heated it, but it didn't really work. I still liked it enough to use it though.
The deer is from Stampabilities and the snow man is from Stamp Affair.
Thanks for looking!

News and Winner!

Some of you may have seen Sarah's blog Scrampin Mama this morning where she kind of let the cat out of the bag (gotta love that pun!) about Chesney's images being available as downloadable digital images. I really wanted to wait until the site was live, but now that you know, I am super excited to tell you about SquiggleFly! My older daughter Ashley is a computer whiz and she has been working hard at getting this new site ready. I have also been working on getting my sister to draw some images too. She's the one who has drawn all the shy bear images you've seen me use.
Anyway, SquiggleFly should be ready really soon and then these images and lots of others will be available to you.
There are a lot of wonderful things about using digital images. I like that they take up no room to store! LOL!

Okay, now let's see who the winner of yesterday's card is. Random.org picked number nineteen! That makes scrappinmominky the winner of the card.
Thanks for checking in! The next card giveaway is December 3rd!

I've already added more to this than shows in the picture, and yesterday Tracey said she thought I should add some of Chesney's images to the prize, so I will do that too! Thanks for the suggestion Tracey!

Did ya'll happen to see my daughter's latest stamp set that was release by My Favorite Things yesterday? I had such fun blog hopping and looking at all the different cards people made using the set. In case you missed it, you can see the set here.

Also, if you haven't yet commented on yesterday's post and you would like to win the card, you have until noon today to be in the running. Just go here and leave your comment!

I know I said I didn't need to make any more Christmas cards, but when I keep seeing so many cute ones on everyone's blog and in the galleries I just can't help but get in the mood to make a few myself!

The deer image is from Stampabilites, snowflakes are from Hero Arts, and verse is from Printworks. I embossed the snowflakes with some embossing powder called Winter wonderland. I also drew some lines in the snow with an embossing pen and embossed them with the same powder. The big snowflake charm is from my stash of supplies. Thanks for looking!

I've already added more to this than shows in the picture!

Before I get to today's card I want to put in a plug here for a friend. I think I'd probably plug this even if she wasn't a friend. I've mentioned that I belong to a couple of rubberstamping lists, and this friend is one I met on one of those lists. A few years ago she was dealing with her elderly father in law's declining health and she would talk to the list about it. She has such a wonderful way with words, and her stories were happy, funny, sad, and thought provoking. We all told her several times that she should write a book. Well, she did! Her book is called Out Of The Wreckage "The Pop Stories" and is available at LuLu
I finished the book myself just a few days ago, and it's wonderful. A very heartwarming book. I know that there are a lot of you who have elderly parents or you will have one day, and I think this book has a lot of insight for you. Okay, now on with the reason most of you are here!

Remember the old Barbie doll commercials where they sang "We girls can do anything, right Barbie?"? That's what I was thinking when I made this. It features another image my daughter drew. Thank you so much for all the compliments you have made regarding her drawings. It's much appreciated! I can think of so many things to do with this particular image! And what a blast it is to color!

It's colored with copic markers and the verse is printed on the computer with a font called Enviro D. I made key words a little larger and then highlighted them as well with different colored markers. I used a cuttlebug embossing folder on the card.
So, do you like it? You wanna win it? Well today is card give away day, so just leave a comment on this post by noon tomorrow and I'll have random.org pick a number to choose a winner!
Thanks for looking!

Just Heard The News

This is a little card using another image my daughter drew. I colored her with copic markers and then mounted it on red cardstock. Then I drew a line down one side and cut everything around the image off on the right side. The background was a red blo pen that I used to make splatters, but it smeared a little when I went to mount the image on the card, so I went ahead and smeared all of it.

The words were printed out on my computer with a font called Teen.
Now, speaking of news I have mentioned that I am coming up on 20,000 hits and I want to celebrate by offering up some blog candy. I have picked a day between now and December 9th. The day that I have picked I will have random.org pick a number out of the comments left and that person will win the blog candy. The thing you don't know is which day between now and then that I've picked, so it's best to come by every day and leave a comment.
If you have a blog let your readers know about my blog candy too! Wanna see what the blog candy is?

I may keep adding more to it too as the days go by!

Blame It On The Dog

Happy Monday! Boy the weekends fly by don't they? I had fun making today's card. It uses an image my daughter drew. She calls this pretty kitty Isabella. I colored her with copics and mounted it on some flowered paper that was a free download at Pollycraft Designs. The words were printed out on my computer using the font Fang Song.

and on the inside of the card:

She just has such a smug look on her face doesn't she? LOL! I hope every one of you has a great day today! Thanks for looking!

PCP Sketch Challenge

Every Saturday Paper Craft Planet has a sketch challenge, and this is the card I made for it.

The background is stamped with different leaves that were colored with watercolor crayons and then misted lightly with water prior to stamping. The little leaves that are cut out are from Stampin Up's Lovely As A Tree set.
I printed the words out on my computer using a font called Staccaco 555. I hope you're all enjoying your weekend, and thanks as always for looking!

Triple Thanksgiving

I made this Thanksgiving card by stamping it on cardstock and colored it with copic markers. The image is one of the Shy Bear images my sister drew a long time ago and might be available still through I Brake For Stamps.

The word "grateful" is from Stampin Up's Small Script stamp set. I stamped it and it left a mark on the cardstock that I wasn't happy with, so that's when the flower was added. To me the flower looks out of place, but it's better than the mark!

Then I started going through my stash of stuff to gather up blog candy for my up coming 20,000 hits celebration (more on this soon!) and I ran across a tablet of canvas paper. It's canvas like the kind that is stretched on frames for painting, only it's in a pad and it's already primed with gesso. Years ago I stamped on some of this canvas paper and painted the image and it made it look like it was a really old painting. So, I decided to stamp this image again on canvas and use my copics to see how they acted on this product.
First, I stamped my image but very lightly

I just needed enough of an outline to show me where to put color. Here's my image colored - quite messy looking.

I didn't add any color to the bear because I know once it's stamped again it won't need much. So, I re-inked my stamp and used my stamp-a-majig to line it up and stamped over my colored image.

I filled in areas that needed to be filled in and here is my finished card (without the mark this time so it's sans flower!).

I didn't like this as well as what I remembered doing on the canvas before, so I stamped it again on canvas only this time I embossed it with clear embossing powder and painted it with H2o paints.

I have to say that the canvas ones look better in real life than in these pictures, but they are still not as nice looking to me as the one on cardstock. The copics do work well on this canvas though. I think the type of paints I used a long time ago were radiant pearls, but I am not sure and maybe my memory of what it looked like is making it better than it actually was! LOL!
Anyway, I thought you might enjoy seeing these.

On a cute and funny note, we went to the park last night with our dog and I filmed her at play. It's about five minutes long, but I leave it here for your viewing pleasure!

I hope you all have some stamping time in your Saturday and thanks for looing!

Here Kitty Kitty!

Happy Friday! I am so ready for the weekend. I recently discovered a company that offers stamps as well as images you can download and print. Some of the images are already colored for you to cut out and use on your cards or in your scrapbooks, but some are un-colored that you can use like stamps. I love the instant gratification of being able to download images! The company is Pollycraft Designs, and they have some of the cutest things.
The card I made today uses one of their un-colored designs. I printed her out, colored her with copics and made this card.

This little girl is totally me as a kid. I was chunky, curly headed, and brought home every stray I could find asking if I could keep it. The paper is some I downloaded from The Shabby Princess. They really do offer up some cool stuff absolutely free. I printed the greeting in Boopee font. I think the kids at this site may satisfy those of you who like the cuteness of the Magnolia kids, but are bothered by the no nose and mouth thing. These kids have full faces! LOL!
Enjoy your day, and thanks for looking!

Is This Funny?

Okay, so I showed this card to my husband and he didn't really get it. Here's the card

Cute right? It's colored with copic markers and I added flocking to her cuff and hat. The dotted paper is from Shabby Princess. The stamp is from American Art Stamp.
Now on the inside is where I thought I got funny with it.

I mean isn't Thanksgiving when we start going out and having to buy the Christmas gifts? I thought it was a fun twist because most people are going to think Christmas when they see the front of the card. Maybe it's just me? Anyway, have a great day and thanks for looking!

It's In the Details

Today's card has lots of little details in it. Things you might not notice at first glance, but when you take a second or third look you'll see something you missed the first time.

I stamped the dragonfly image (sorry, don't know who makes it) and colored it with colored pencils; except for the wings. The wings were painted with an irridescent h20 paint. The color of the wings changes hues when it's tilted. I added flocking to the cat tails. I used green rain dots on the eyes, but first I colored a little of the eyes so it would show through the rain dot. There are three embossed dots on the right side of one green strip. I embossed with a stylus and the circles in a little plastic template that helps you line up eyelets, holes, etc. The wings were debossed from the back like I did the towel in my Dieting Bear card. You can see the shimmer in the wings and more of the dimension the debossing gives the wings in this closeup.

I also cut the corners on the right side of the card. Like I said, lots of details! The "Dream" stamp is from Papertrey Ink.
Here's another little detail for you, my friend Sarah is giving away some fun blog candy, so head over to her blog for a chance to win! Thanks for looking.

Papercraft Planet

Susanna Boyd recently started a new website called Papercraft Planet and it's been growing by leaps and bounds. One of the things that she's doing is sketch challenges!
The sketch challenge this week looks like this:

And here's my take on it

The image is from Stampa Rosa. I am not sure what kind of flower this is supposed to be, but I just picked colors I liked. I used more of that same wallpaper I used on my faux "It's A Stretch" card. The verse was printed out on my computer using a font called Pea Steph.
Thanks for looking!

The rest of the Stamp A Stack

Happy Monday everyone! As promised here are the last two cards we made at Saturday's Stamp A Stack.

This card uses the stamping set Home For Christmas from Stampin Up. I wanted to add a little glitter to mine.

This card uses Stampin Up's Winter Post set and the new Big Note die. I wanted to add the white snowflakes to my red card.

Quick post today because I have more things to do if there are to be any posts the rest of this week! Thanks as always, for stopping by!

Stamp A Stack of Christmas Cards

Well yesterday was the day I went to the stamp a stack. That was one of the reasons my post yesterday was so late coming.
We made four cards of six different designs yesterday and had so much fun doing it. One of the cards we made was one I already showed you from World Cardmaking Day so I won't share it again. There are two cards I want to add a few things of my own to, so I'll share them tomorrow, so that leaves three different cards to show today!

This card uses images from Stampin Up's A Wish For Peace & Many Merry Messages stamp sets. I'm still deliberating adding a little glitter to the snow on the trees.

This card uses Stampin Up's Christ Is Born set. It was a favorite among the group, and is also one we did on World Cardmaking Day but I failed to take a picture of it that day!

And my personal favorite of the bunch is this one

It uses Stampin Up's Season Of Simple Grace set.

Here's a couple of pictures I snapped of the women all stamping, chatting, and having a good time!

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday. I have menu planning to do and then grocery shopping later this afternoon. Hopefully I'll get some stamping time in too! Thanks for looking!
