Friends

Hi everyone! I made today's card for the Friday Sketcher's sketch this week.

click on the photo for a closer look

I used the butterfly cat from squigglefly.com; another of their 99 cent images! I hardly had to add any color to the cat; just a little blue around the eyes and outline the shadowed areas with a light grey copic marker. The background is chalked and the flowers from a Stampin Up set are added on and popped up a little. The little butterfly was printed two more times and popped up too.

Alright I promised a picture of the upcoming blog candy so here it is

To win this blog candy, just leave a comment on this post telling me why you like to create cards. I will have random.org pick a number on March first to find the winner. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Holly - your blog candy looks like "Christmas". Why do I like to make cards? The colors, the fun of it - so much so that I could NEVER use all the cards I make. Now I send them all off to cardsforheroes.org. No more 'guilt' at making cards I will never use. I'm a HAPPY card maker.

Hello Holly!!I love how you have added to this image to make such an outstanding card!!! The kitty is just adorable-I have bought her too -I think!!! Now for the blog candy-yummy! I like to make cards because I feel like I accomplished something when I am done-and I like to TRY to create-although I am no where near as creative as you!!!

Wow, great blog candy! I like to make cards because I always liked doing crafts and as the years went by I began to focus on cards. It takes less room to store; we can make cards anywhere. It pleases persons who receive them. There aren'nt limits. For now it's my passion. Thanks for a chance to win. 1rst march is my birthday so I'm crossing my fingers...

I like to make cards because when the person getting the card realizes you actually made it, the look on their face says it all...most people appreciate the fact that you took the time to do that for them....it is well worth the time to see that look :~)

The cat on your card today is better than my cat for sure! Kit Kat would be jumping up trying to GET that cute little butterfly!! He's a mess :~)

Have a great day too...

Wow! Terrific blog candy! I look forward to your daily blog, and love all the artwork. Why do I like to make cards? It's my "therapy" LOL, and I enjoy it when someone appreciates a card I've made. It's always fun to create a card with a specific person in mind

hmmmmm, why do I like to make cards? because to buy them is soooo very expensive. that's my #1 reason. I do love the creativity satisfaction I get from playing with paper. thanks for the chance to win some wonderful blog candy!

OMGoodness.... I have been doing some sort of art my entire life.... I remember laying on the floor after church on sunday (wearing my sunday clothes, I was probably around 4 or 5 yrs old) with the comics and trying to draw them (not trace). The ladies from church used to ooohhh and ahhhhh over how well I was doing. Been hooked ever since.... My hubby has a saying about me "You can turn chicken S#!T into chicken salad"...he tells everyone that too!!! LOL Love your work!!!

OH I LOVE THAT BUTTERFLY! Very creative how you came up with the idea of using 3 images! I also love this cat! It has the sweetest face and I am so glad to see how you handle white! Going to try just doing the eyes, highlights, and shadows. Precious card!

Why do I make cards? When I make a card, I feel like I am giving a piece of myself to the person. I love receiving handmade items and giving them is extra special. It's more of a gift from the heart. I'll never be as good as you and a lot of others, but I'm learning.

You outdid yourself on the candy! Someone is going to think they died and went to Heaven!!!

Hugs~

I really like this card and the butterfly is a great addition.
I enjoy making cards to give to my family and close friends. I have always been involved in one kind of creative activity or another. I make beaded jewelery, dabble in knitting (I'm not that good at it though) and I also enjoy doing counted cross stitch embroidery.

now that card is too cute love that cat and the colors
I like to make cards because first I love paper and have way too much LOL
and its a kind of therapy for me, no matter what is going on in life it takes me to a better place and I can forgot all my little troubles

Hey Holly,

Why?? WHY?? 'well,, to SAVE MONEY of course!! Isn't that how most of us addicts started,, with an illusion that we are gonna save tons and tons of money,,, (that's the story I keep telling the yamahunk)as he stares at my 17 year collection! The other reason is that I have ink running in my veins. Love your blog Holly,,, see ya back at the list... Yama

Our friend Gail got me addicted to making cards. I saw her beautiful cards and thought I could never do it.
Well... started buying a few stamps, paper and you can figure out the rest!
I like making cards because one of things it does it occupies my mind when I'm under lots of stress.
And of course... when I give a handmade card.. I love to see the reactions when they find out that I "made" it myself.

Anita said...

Cute card! What great blog candy! Why I love to create cards is the joy other people get when they get a handmade card! Another reason is the fun of coloring images.

Holly,
Firstly love your blog and your cards. I started making cards after I was very sick and unable to do alot of things. I needed the creative outlet and now enjoy making cards for people.

I JUST ADORE THAT CAT. I THINK I WILL HAVE TO GET ONE FOR MYSELF. I AM ENJOYING YOUR BLOG VERY MUCH.

That card is just adorable!!! LOVE IT ♥
Why do I make cards???? That's a good question....LOL! My sister got me hooked...I basically just started doing it because it's FUN!!! Also, as I study all day my poor little brain gets tired of all the logical stuff it's forced to do, so the creative outlet is AWESOME! But mostly just because it really is fun & reminds me of being a little kid...I mean, what other grown-ups get to colour-in & play with glitter & ribbons & all the pretty things we do??????

Shellys Crafts said...

first off, your cards are terrific. And why I love to do cards is my only way of getting away from it all..It's my prozac.I get most creative at night when its quiet. I love to get with my friends also who love to stamp and create. We learn alot from each other. thanks for sharing. shelly

Oh MEOWZA!! What a great bunch of blog candy you are giving away! Purrhaps one of these times, random will pick me. LOL

I like to create cards because it is relaxing and it gives me a good feeling to give someone else a good feeling when they receive a card. I know *I* certainly get good feelings when I receive cards. :-)

I love to create one of a kind special cards for family and friends. They are more meaningful than store bought cards and show them that I care.

Cheri Howard said...

What a cute card! I love that image, and you did a beautiful job adding a bit of color to her!

I like making cards for several reasons. Firstly, it's something I'm going to need anyway, and it's a lot more funt to make them myself. Secondly, most recipients appreciate that I made it instead of buying it. Lastly, I'm not very confident in my skills at art, so a card is a small, limited way for me to practice the skills I'd like to try.

I tell people that I do it for my mental health! The funny thing is that I really mean it. I need to create and cards fit my busy lifestyle perfectly. I can sit down and make a intricate card or if I only have a few minutes I sit down and do a simple one. I LOVE making cards!

Lucky post #25!! LOL

Why do I like making cards? I have never asked myself that question before. I guess I would have to say it is because card making (stamping) is so closely related to scrapbooking and that is where I got my start. After SBing, card making just seemed a natural thing to do. Do you know what I mean?

Anywho... thanks for the op to win your YUMMY blog candy!!

Oh I love that cat card, it looks like my Max who died two years ago... he was a lovely big snowwhite cat.

Why do I make cards? Well, I handicrafted all my life, I did it all. But nothing ever fascinated me more than working with paper, I love what you can do with it. It gives me so much when a card is done and not only I like it. ;-)))
And actually I forget all my pain when I sit there and make cards, it`s the best therapy for me! :-)))

I like to make cards because it is therapeutic for me - it is ME time and it's quiet and I get to be creative! I LOVE the physical part of it, touching, feeling, moving things around, etc. AND I LOVE the smiles my cards get when I give them to people!!!!

I love your card. So simple yet sooo pretty. I have trouble coloring white but will go give it another go.

I love cardmaking for many reasons. I can go upstairs and be all alone for some me time or get together with a group of friends and just have a great time. I find it very relaxing and satisfying. I also started out to save money. Don't anyone tell the hubby how much I really spend!

Great card Holly!!!

Why do I like to create cards?!?! Well, it is really just a natural extension of my love of scrapping! I like to be able to give someone a card that I took the time to make myself. And if I am low on mojo cards are great because they are a smaller project than a layout and I can feel like I am accomplishing something!! :)

I love making cards because I love to send them and give them to friends and family. They are so much fun to make and there are so many new patterns I find on blogs such as yours that excite me to make even more. Your blog candy looks like a lot of fun goodies. I just posted a few cards I made on my blog too.

Oh, there are so many reasons to why I like making cards, but if I were to pick the Number One Reason, I think it has to be that stamping is like meditation to me ... It makes me forget about time and anything else. It's relaxing and fun at the same time :-)

Holly - I have given you an award. Go to my blog to find out more ... ;-) I hope you like it!

Wow this card is so pretty, love how you raised the butterfly. The BG is beautiful too!! I love to make cards because it takes my mind off other things, it's fun, it's an addiction and people ooh and ahhh over them!!

Hi Holly ;)

Why do I love to make cards? Well, my two grandmothers were artists - my dad's mom was the first woman to graduate from her university with a degree in fine arts - way back about 1910. She was a wonderful artist and I would love to be able to paint as she did. I can't, but I have an urge to create, and stamping/cardmaking is my creative outlet. The stamps 'draw' my picture and I color them. I get so much pleasure from creating a card someone enjoys, and I love the fact that (hopefully) the person who receives my card gets enjoyment from it - I guess that I'm getting twice the value from my investment in stamping supplies lol.
I love your blog Holly.

Great technique! I make cards and other paper crafts because I HAVE to craft! I just seem to want to always be making something and cards are easier to give away than other types of crafts. After a while the question is: What do you do with all the things you've made?

I love to create cards because:
1. It's a great way to use up paper scraps.
2. It's a way to use those grab bag stamps that I seem to collect!
3. It's a quick and easy way to get my creating urge taken care of!
4. It's a simple way to cheer up someone by sending them a handmade card!

First let me say that I absolutely love your kitty card! The 3-D butterfly is genius!!
As to why i like to make cards, I love that it takes only a small amount of time to make a card and I can squeeze it into just about any part of my day. I'm always thinking about color combinations and ways to use my stamps...and a card is a great way to play with all my "stuff"!

I just popped over to Squigglefly.com from another blog and bought 4 digi stamps at 3.99. I thought that was good, but if there are some for 99 cents I'm heading back there. I love making cards because I feel that sending a card out to someone across the sea is more thoughtful then sending email, and if they can see that I have made it in the bargain, then they know how long I have been thinking of them. Email has it's uses but I like my mini art projects too.

Thanks for the chance of getting some blog candy.

I'd love to win your blog candy. Hmmm - why I like making cards? The creation time - it's a time to reflect on the person or people I'm making the card for. I don't make tons to sell or give as packs. Just make them for those I love. I have been so inspired by bloggers - I've been making a "flip book card" for my son and daughter in laws upcoming reception. It's coming out great - I know it will show my love for them, that's why I love to make cards! Grandma4five

It's relaxing for me to make cards. I go into my craft room away from everybody and only focus on stamps, ink, embellishments. Everything outside of that room (bills, cleaning, dr. appointments) stays there - and I can relax and focus. WHat great blog candy! Love your blog and all your creations.

Holly, your blog candy is lovely. Your cat card is so funa fresh.

Why do I like to make cards? I have CFS/ME and each day is a struggle but I like to make cards as 50% of everything I make goes to different charities and come the end of December I desperately want to raise £1,000 in 4 years - not much in some respects but when some weeks I can't even make a card it doesn't sound too bad. Also making the cards will hopefully help me to get better as I think to myself that even though I'm not well I am able to help people less fortunate than me!!! Thanks again. Kym xxx
