Doggone Happy

Happy last day of March! Can you believe that another month is already over? Tomorrow is April Fool's Day and I'm wondering if any of you have any tricks up your sleeve. One April first the ladies on one of my rubberstamping groups all got to talking about different tricks we had all done in the past. There were some pretty funy tricks that people came up with! One lady said she saved the newspaper on April 1st one year and the next April 1st she set last year's paper out for her husband. I just get so tickled thinking about how confused he must have been for a bit! Another lady frosted a sponge and served "sponge" cake for dessert! I'd love to hear of any tricks you have planned!
One thing I can tell you is that you will not be fooled by Squigglefly this April 1st because that's the day their blog hop is starting! I'm so excited because there are some new images that will be released at the same time and I know you are going to love them!

Today I have a card that uses a cute little dog. I was given this image in an image swap so I don't know what company it's from.

I colored it with copic markers and chalked the sky and grass. The little flower on the side is punched out from the same designer paper. I punched a hole in the middle and added an eyelet and then filled the eyelet with yellow stickles.

I stamped the words directly onto the designer paper. I don't stamp on to designer paper often enough. I like the way it looks.

I'm working on a card that uses this image and I was running through some different sentiments to use on it with my husband. The problem is he doesn't think most of the ones I suggested were funny, so since most of you appreciate my "humor" let me run them by you, and you tell me which one you like best. Now, I know some of these are going to make you groan, but here goes
To brie or not to brie!
I swiss you the best or I swiss you very much
my husband's favorite but I tend to think it's expected - Who Cut The Cheese?
and my favorite, oh wait! I won't tell you my favorite I'll just use it and you'll have to wait until I finish the card before you know what it is! LOL! Aren't I evil? Or! Maybe you can guess it! I am sure looking forward to the comments now!

Voices In My Head

Good morning! I sure enjoyed my weekend and was not ready for Monday morning to come crashing back so soon! Maybe I've got spring fever! As much as I don't enjoy Monday mornings, at least I am feeling better than this girl

This funny image is from Squigglefly. She looks like she's about to pull her hair out doesn't she? I colored her with copic markers and added a little bit of chalk around her. The designer paper was picked for the colors, and I like the bit of glitter in it too.
It is from DCWV mat stack. The words are computer generated in a font called Australian Sunrise.
I added different colored buttons to the side just for added interest and tied a purple knot at the top. I'm wishing now I had tied some thread through the buttons, but I got a little lazy. I think I'm going to pull those buttons off and add some thread before I send it.

Cute Snoozer

Good morning! Yesterday we got a little snap of cooler weather and I am just loving it! I was out playing with Riley most of the day. She is one active dog!
I did look at the sketch challenge on Papercraft Planet yesterday, and last night I found time to make a card for it.



I printed out an image from squigglefly called A Snack and A Nap and colored it with copic markers. The background was chalked. All the rest of the card just followed the sketch. I used a speckle background stamp on the card base and printed the words with my computer. The font is one called Pupcat and you can grab it for free here.
I think this image would be a good one to use for a male birthday or retirement, and even Father's Day, but I went a different route with my greeting. By poking fun like this I can send it to a girlfriend. Just two girls having a chuckle at our guy's expense! LOL! What do you think? Did I step too far out of the box with this sentiment?

Spring Trees

A couple of weeks ago I took some pictures of the beautiful spring flowering trees in our neighborhood. I love seeing the beautiful trees and flowers, but Spring always puts me in a kind of bad mood because I know that summer isn't far behind it. I do not like summer. It's hot, it's humid, there are bugs everywhere and if that's not enough there are mosquitoes biting you every chance they get!
This spring I am trying really hard to just enjoy the season for what it has to offer and not worry about summer coming. Here are some of the trees I took pictures of.

I stamped an image I had of a row of bare trees onto cardstock in a dark brown ink. The image I used is from Inkadinkadoo. Then I applied glue to the trees and sprinkled on some flower soft. I never seem to add enough, and I after the first attempt dried I added more. I chalked the sky and the ground.
the designer paper I used is from Stampin Up. The greeting is really a reminder to myself to not hold summer against spring.
I hope those of you who are experiencing spring right now enjoyed seeing a bit of our spring, and I hope those of you still in the midst of winter enjoy a glimpse of what's coming to you soon!

Easter Bunch

Good morning everyone! Are you all as happy for the weekend being here as I am? I have a lot to get done this weekend; but most of it is fun stuff for the upcoming squigglefly blog hop! I'm excited about that, and I'm also excited to tell you that squigglefly has started their own blog! Go check it out and think about following it here so you don't miss out on the fun!

I've been making Easter cards, and I found one design that went pretty quick so I decided to make a whole batch of them!



The rabbit stamp is from Hero Arts and some of them are colored with copics and some are colored with pencils or watercolors.
Each of them are little bit different in some way, because it's just not fun to make the exact same card over and over!
Here are a couple of close up shots of a couple that I liked best.



This one I dry embossed the dots with the Stampin Up brass template. It was a new toy and I had to play with it!



This one I used a wheel from Stampin Up for the background on the card base.

I used some of the bridal flowers from michaels and I colored them with copics. They are mounted with a glittery brad in the center. I also got to use a new fern punch I got from Michael's on a recent trip.
I did print the greeting on my computer, but I can't remember the name of the font. Have you been making any Easter cards? It'll be here before we know it!

Oh Nuts!

Good morning all! If you haven't yet commented on yesterday's post and you'd like to have a chance to win the card, you still have until noon!

Today I have a fun little card that I enjoyed making. I used Simon Squirrel from squigglefly and colored him with copic markers.



I chalked the backgound and highlighted with a white gel pen. I embossed the top part of the card with one of the little border embossing folders from Provocraft. There are four different borders in each package. This one comes from the Just My Type package. The designer paper I used is from Basic Grey's mellow collection.
I printed the words with my computer and used a free font from 1001 fonts called Bear Paw. You can get it here.
I recently asked the squigglefly group on yahoo if anyone could come up with more ideas for greetings to use with this squirrel image and got some fantastic ideas from the people there. If you haven't joined why not? You can do that by going here. I think the group will be a lot of fun once we get more members contributing their thoughts and ideas.
Also, Squigglefly has a Blog Hop happening next week! There will be lots of opportunities to win some awesome prizes and I'm sure the design team will be showing you some fantastic samples! The blog hop will take place April 1st through the 5th, so stay tuned for that!

You're The Best

Hi everyone! Thanks for the comments both good and bad on my effort at collage yesterday. I'm happy to say that Nora will be getting the card in the mail. I told her that since she said it was "right up her alley" she could take it and make something better with it. Like I said, I liked the image part but just didn't like how I used it. Nora, please share with us what you do with it.

Today is card give away day, but before I get to my card I have another card to share with you. I got this in the mail yesterday and it just made my day.



This card is from Pam Pruett who comments on all my blog posts. A while back she mentioned how hesitant she was to download and print a digital image. With lots of encouragement (okay you can say pushing!) she finally did it! And she colored it with copic markers! And she sent it to me! I just love it Pam. I think using the brad for the eye was a great idea, and I love your ribbon in the little slide at the top. I love the colors, and even though you don't think your coloring is great, it really is. I am so proud of you for finally doing the digital thing. Now you have to admit that it really was pretty easy, and it'll get easier the more you do it! LOL! Thank you so much for sending it to me!

Okay, up now is the card I made to give to one of you!



I used the squigglefly image I Love You Daddy and colored it with copic markers. The words are computer generated, but I didn't write down which font I used! Sorry about that! I Challenged Laura!

Good morning everyone! Every Tuesday Laura over at Scrapnextras has a challenge to use something from stuff she's hoarding or stuff she's bought and hasn't used much. This week I challenged her to use some of those clear bubble stickers because I have several packages of those and just don't use them very often. Well, she accepted my challenge and made two of the prettiest cards!




To get the details of the cards she made, go visit her blog, and if you haven't been to her blog before you should pull up a chair and look through past posts and just soak it all in. She is one talented lady!
Anyway, as challenger I also have to step up to the plate and create something using the bubble stickers too! I have to say it's really hard to put my cards up right after showing you her beautiful creations! First up is this

I used the Egg Head image from Squigglefly and colored it with copic markers. I added some crystal lacquer to his eyes and beak and of course flocked his body. I stamped the little flower from Stampin Up's Simply Said set four times and colored each one a different color to go with the colors of the dots in the designer paper. I placed a bubble sticker over each flower and glued them to the side of the card.
The sentiment was printed out on the computer in green and the font is called segoe Print. I added some sparkly blue rick rack along the side to go with the blue of the egg shell.
I thought this poor little chick looked so surprised to see his shell cracked apart!

Now the next card I made I really hate. I hate it so much I will probably throw it away, but I'm showing it to you anyway because I think some people can take my idea and do a better job with it.
I wantedto use a small square dome sticker I had to highlight a portion of an image kind of like the spotlight technique, only the dome sticker would spotlight the spotlight. So I chose this collage image from Stampin Up's Garden Collage set and only colored the portion the sticker would cover.

Now I am the first to say that I cannot do collage type cards, so I don't know why I chose this image to try. I like the part with the sticker, but I don't like any of the rest of it. I don't know what to do with it, and I think the paper I used behind the image panel is all wrong.

Stamp Camp Card Share

Good morning everyone, and a special hello and happy birthday to my friend Gail!

As you know yesterday I went to stamp camp and I promised to share our creations with you, so pull up a chair and grab your coffee because it's a long post this morning!
First of all my friend Sherry surprised me with three peppermint patties that had the cutest little punched animals on them! First we have a little chick


(yes, I ate the peppermint!)

Then a little bunny



and last is a cute little lamb



Aren't they adorable?

Now in no particular order, here are the cards we made



This one uses images from a Stampin Up set called Friends 24-7. They had a different greeting in the scalloped circle, but I came home and added my own greeting to it with a clear stamp from Studio G. The designer paper used on this card is from the Delicate Dots series.

Next we have



This one uses images from Stampin Up's Le Jardin Boranique stamp set and En Francaise background stamp. We colored it with blender pens and ink from the ink pads. I think this one is my least favorite of all the cards we made, but it's still a nice card.

Next we have



This one uses Stampin Up's Branch Out set. It's a real fun one to use. There are lots of little add ons to this like a tire swing and a bird house and little boots. I opted to only stamp the bird. I love the tree in this set though. The green layer is embossed with a diamond texture plate.

Next there is



This is one I really love. The colors are just so soft and springy. It uses images from Stampin Up's Fifth Avenue Floral set. She had a card there that used the Fifth Avenue Floral embossing folder, and it was just lovely. Definitely going on my wish list!

Then we have



I really love this one a lot too. It uses Stampin Up's Pretty Amazing set. The flower was stamped with the Tangerine Tango three times without re-inking between stamping. I think this would really be pretty stamped in a shimmery ink. The butterfly is popped on dimensionals.

And last but not least is



I think this one may be my favorite. I guess I have a thing for trees! This one uses Stampin Up's Thought and Prayers stamp set. This one had a different word for us to use at the class, but I brought mine home un-assembled and stamped my own word (from My Sentiments Exactly) and I also embossed the card with the textile embossing folder from Provo Craft.

And here is a picture of the three ladies who were with me each holding one of their creations



They are from left to right, Jean, Sherry, and Martha. Don't they all look like they've had fun? They all won a door prize, but I got the ribbon and paper their prizes were wrapped in so I was happy too!

You Crack me Up

What a great day we had yesterday! Riley was sufficiently exhausted after our boat trip. I enjoyed the beautiful spring trees and listening to the birds sing. We were in this one area where a bunch of red winged black birds were singing and I kept thinking I was hearing a cat. I mentioned that to Brock and he said "Maybe it's a cat bird". I have heard of cat birds, but I don't know that I've ever seen one or heard one. I kept looking for it and it turned out to be one of the red winged black birds making a cat sound! It was so strange! After I got home I looked up cat birds and found lots of videos on you tube that shows cat birds and other birds meowing like cats! This one of a mockingbird was my favorite

Okay, on with today's cards (yes, I have TWO for you today)!
Remember I told you I borrowed Stampin Up's A good Egg set from my friend? Well, here are the cards I made with it.



The first one I stamped a flourish from Autumn Leaves all over the card front with a craft white ink. It's subtle, but I think it's so much better than a plain card base. I stamped the eggs and cut them out andmounted them over the panel of designer paper. I cut out the little chick and flocked him. When I cut him out I cut off his little hairs on top of his head, so I glued some yellow bits of fluff that I pulled off of some knobby yarn I had. I looked for some yellow feathers, but I didn't have any and the fluff from the yarn looks cute enough.

I snapped a close up on this one so you could better see the flocking and the yellow fluff on his head.



This afternoon I get to go to a stamp camp, and I'm really looking forward to it! It's such fun to get together with other people who enjoy stamping and making cards as much as I do, and I always come home with so many ideas. I'll share what we make with you too! Have a great day!

I've Been Dyeing To Tell You

Okay, maybe the pun in the title of this post is a little bad, but I didn't use it on the card! LOL! Inside It will just say "Happy Easter".



This is a cute image that is so fun to color and it's from Squigglefly. She looks so proud of her colored eggs; showing them off like Vanna White! LOL!

I colored it with copic markers and added some glitter to some of the eggs. It's hard to tell in the photo unless you click on it to enlarge it, but I used two different patterns of designer paper behind the image. One side is punched with a Martha Stewart border punch, and a sheer white organza ribbon is tied around the other piece of paper.
There really isn't a lot of room for a sentiment on the front, so I left out the "I've been dyeing" part of the greeting. It's probably for the best.

If you haven't gone to join the squigglefly group on yahoo, I urge you to do so. They are just getting started, so things are a little in flux right now, but I do know that they have some great ideas you are going to want to be in on!
The weather here is just gorgeous and we are planning on taking the boat out on the river and letting Riley run around on some sandbars while my husband throws a fishing line in here and there. Some people call that fishing, but he never seems to pull in any fish so I guess he's just throwing his line in the water. LOL! Don't tell him I said that! I will probably take along an audio book and just enjoy the scenery. I hope you all enjoy your day whatever you may do! Thanks for looking!

Happy Spring

Good morning one and all! Today is officially the first day of Spring, so what better day to post a card welcoming it!

This card uses an image from Squigglefly that I colored with copics. The background was chalked and the bunny was flocked. I embossed some designer paper and then punched a border and mounted it on a card. The Happy Spring sentiment was stamped in purple ink below the border. I think this sentiment stamp is from Penny Black but I am not positive.
I also glued a little brown flower soft to the pots for "dirt". Everytime I look at the card I think it needed something else, so I threaded some feathery yarn that I had through the eyelet holes, moved the image over to the right, and glued a small purple prima flower at the end of the flouish in the greeting. I was going to add a flower to the left of the image where some of the designer paper pulled off when I moved it, but it looked a little busy so I just used a copic marker to touch up the white spots on the designer paper and it matched really well. With the embossing on the paper you really don't notice it. It's more noticeable in the photo than in real life. Can you see where it is?




I'm happy to say that I slept better last night. I think the whole not sleeping well thing is all because of this blasted daylight savings time! Hopefully my body is adjusted to it now. I hate waking up in the middle of the night or way too early in the morning and then being tired all day long! I'll be so sleepy all day thinking only of bed, but around 10:00 at night when I should be going to bed, I suddenly feel wide awake and not sleepy at all so I stay up a little later and then I'm going to bed too late! Going to bed late coupled with waking up an hour before the alarm is due to go off does not make for a good next day!

Simply Thinking

As I've mentioned before I am in charge of the birthday lists on a couple of internet rubberstamping groups I belong to. On one of those groups I also run what we call a RAK list. This is a list where people can request cards be sent to someone who may be celebrating something or just someone who may need some cheery mail. This month I had one person who requested a card be sent to her mom because her mom had fallen and broken her arm, and Freida who leaves comments on my blog all the time mentioned that her mother in law had broken her ankle (or maybe it was her leg?) while collecting the mail for a friend, and Karin from scrap everything just had her mom come home from the hospital and she wanted to cheer her up with cards, so I got busy and made a few quick cards for these ladies.




I used the Stampin Up sets Best Blossoms and Sincere Salutations. I sponged around the edges to soften it, pierced around the top and
one side, and tied a bow around the corner. It's super quick because there's no coloring!
I have been really loving seeing all the wonderful cards the squigglefly design team have been making. So many super talented people out there, and I'm excited to tell you that the design team has set up a squigglefly group on yahoo! The weather here is more summer like than spring like, and I am not a warm weather loving person! My routine of walking Riley in the mornings is having to change because of it. I have to walk her earlier before it gets too warm, and it's throwing me all off. I haven't slept well the last few nights either, so I'm super glad that tomorrow is Friday! Sweet Birthday

My friend who is a Stampin Up Demonstrator let me borrow a couple of her stamp sets. Today's card uses the set called Crazy For Cupcakes. Everytime I say that set name I hear the "Cuckoo for Coco Puffs" commercial in my head! LOL!
Anyway, I haven't had near enough time to play around with the sets I borrowed, but this is the first card I made with the cupcake set.




I really like this. I embossed the yellow cardstock with the Happy Birthday background embossing folder from Provocraft. The dotted paper is from Stampin Up and I stamped the cupcake holder on the back side of the paper and cut it out. Then the top part of the cupcake was stamped on the same yellow cardstock and cut out and mounted on top. I punched little cirlces from the dotted paper and glued them to the cupcake for sprinkles and then used stickles on it too.
My "Happy Birthday" at the bottom is a clear stamp from Stampendous and was stamped in a turquois ink, and I found the perfect color twill to use. In an effort to put something on the inside of my cards I stamped a verse that came with the set and then punched a flower out of the designer paper.



I had to return the sets to her, so for now this is the only card I had a chance to make with it this time. I do plan on borrowing it again in the near future and finding time to make some cards.

Lucky Me!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Are you all wearing something green today so you don't get pinched? I thought since it is St. Patrick's Day I'd share with you one more St. Patrick's Day card. This one is one of my favorites.




The image is from Darcie's and is colored with copic markers. I used digital paper that is a free download from graphics soft. The bottom part of my card is embossed with the swiss dots embossing folder, and my sentiment is computer generated. The little four leaf clover that is falling off the pile is cut out and mounted on the card separately and I hand drew the little falling lines.

No Butterflies

Good morning and Happy Monday to you all! Yesterday was featured stamper day at Splitcoast Stampers and many of you know that that is one my favorite things to do. I have to say the gallery of this week's stamper was just magnificent. I plan to stalk her gallery for a while! here is the card I CASED and now for my card



It's a very simple card, but made all the more striking by using so many layers and bold colors. I cut and embossed two rectangles with nestabilities and then layered them with the red cardstock.
My words were printed out on the computer and the font I used is Bradley Hand.
I think I'd like to make more of these in different colors.
My butterfly is an unmounted stamp that I received in an unmounted swap many years ago so I do not know who makes it. I glued the body of the butterfly down, folded up the wings and doubled up some pop dots to slide under the wings to keep them propped up a little. I hand drew the antennas because it's a pain to cut those out! LOL!

Cards For Ethan

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the nice comments yesterday on the video. Even though I wasn't that happy with the final card, I do think it accomplished showing you all how I color with copics and also how I do the chalking in the background.
Every Saturday Lauren has a sketch on her blog. This weekend she asked us to use the sketch to make a card for her friend's son Ethan who has cancer. You can read Lauren's post here if you want to participate.

dog card with tutorial

Good morning everyone! Okay, I have the video tutorial you all asked for; me coloring the naughty puppy image from squigglefly. Before we get to it though, let me tell you a few things I didn't mention on the video. Number one is that my image was heat set prior to coloring. Also, in the video I draw a wall line on the card and that too was heat set before I proceeded. I used liquid applique for the pillow stuffing instead of cotton like I did before, and I don't like the way it looks as well as the cotton. A friend of mine suggested I try the flower soft for stuffing and I may do that at some point. It was too long for Youtube so I had to upload it at Veoh. There is some adult only content on the Veoh site, so I suggest you watch the video from my blog if you don't want to be subjected to any of that.
I tried to set up a tripod so the camera wouldn't be shaky, but it just wouldn't work right and get in close enough so Chesney filmed it for me. I have to say it's kind of intimidating to sit down and color something you know so many people will be watching and judging, but I'd really love to hear honest feedback. If I make more videos in the future I'll try to figure out a way the tripod will work because I know the shaky camera can be bothersome. Anyway, here is the finished card and the video follows.

Spring Has Sprung!

Yea, it's Friday! We had another little round of cool weather come in yesterday. I think this might be what they call blackberry winter. It's nice though because I know the really hot weather will be here soon, so I am enjoying the cool days while I can. Even with the coolness you can't miss the fact that spring has arrived. Everything here is popping out.
My best friend's mom is an avid gardener. She knows the names of every wildflower native to our state and even some that aren't! She's always growing little plants for me to plant in my garden and giving me tips on what to grow and every spring she's itching to get in her yard. So, I made this card for her.

This image is from Squigglefly.com and it's called Gardener. I colored it with copic markers and chalked the background. Then I matted it with some brown cardstock and used two pieces of designer paper on the card. The little "Spring has sprung" is a clear unmounted stamp that I got off ebay and I have no idea what company it's from. I used some rub on stitches between the two papers.
Now, I know you want to see the inside cause it's the best part




LOL! She called me up after she got it and told me it just made her day. Isn't it nice to hear that the cards you send make people happy? I hope you all got a good chuckle out of it too!

Okay, the copic coloring video you all asked for is finished. I just have to get it uploaded and I will have it for you tomorrow. I did do the Naughty Puppy image that most of you asked for. Remember When

Well I knew yesterday's card wasn't going to be for everyone. It really wasn't fair using a card like that for the giveaway. Hopefully you will like today's card better!




I used a squigglefly image called Little Bistro and colored with copic markers. The card base is cream colored cardstock, and I layered a piece of designer paper along with a piece of rust colored cardstock that was embossed with the textile embossing folder from Provo Craft. I love that folder. I think it's one of my favorites. The words are computer generated. Here's the inside of the card



I thought this could be a birthday card, but it doesn't have to be. It could just be a funny card to send to a friend.

Okay, now on to the card. You asked for it (well some of you did!), and I really wanted to do it anyway. I made a Totally Twisted card with the girl and doll image that I used yesterday. I went all out too.



Check out the doll's face! LOL! Everything is colored with copic markers except for the background and it's chalked. I printed the word on the computer with a font called Matisse (the same one I used on the What Bird card I made the other day. I know that such a twisted card might not want to be won by everyone, but you don't have to comment if you don't want it! LOL!
I had fun making this though. Did any of you ever see that episode of the Twilight Zone I was talking about yesterday? In the end the mother followed her daughter who was taking the doll into the woods where they changed places. When the mother saw what happened she ran up to the girl (who was the doll come to life) and yelled crying for her daughter and it scared the girl so she ran away thus leaving her daughter as a doll forever. No wonder I was scared of my doll after that! LOL! I remember going to bed not long after that show and my younger sister shared a room with me and was lying in bed next to me. My doll (a life sized one) was in the corner next to my bed and I started imagining she was talking to me and I got so scared but my little sister had no idea all the terror that was racing through my mind. I finally jumped out of bed screaming and running out of the room into the kitchen where my parents were and my poor little sister was screaming behind me having no idea what she was running from! LOL! I wonder if she remembers that. Well, I hope you enjoyed the card and the little story that goes with wiht. Have a fantastic day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Twisted Card

Okay, today you will all see just how twisted I can be. I almost didn't even share this card with you, but I decided I'd just let you in on my thought process as I made this. I printed out the little image of the girl and doll from squigglefly.com and sat down to color it and make a cute little card. Maybe something about best friends. As I started coloring it though, I started thinking about a doll I had when I was a kid and then I remembered an old Twilight Zone episode where a girl and her doll would change places and the real girl would be a doll for a while and the doll would be alive. The episode scared me so badly that I imagined my doll was wanting me to become a doll so she could be alive and I frightened myself so badly I ended up getting rid of the doll!
So with all these thoughts going through my mind, the sweet little image of a girl playing with her doll turned into something much more sinister. Then I saw a rubber stamp that said
"Don't make me get out my voodoo doll!" and I knew I had to use those words with the image. So I present to you today my twisted card




The font I used for the words is called Enviro D. I colored with copic markes and chalked the background. The card is embossed with an Ellison texture plate. I was going to get all crazy with the chalk and make it all dark with an eerie glow coming from the doll, but I didn't want to scare all of you into thinking I was completely nuts, so I didn't. I still want to though! LOL!
Have you seen all the people who have been selected to be on the Squigglefly design team? I don't know who all has been picked, but I've seen a few posts and I'm excited about seeing what they make!
