Season of Friendship

Good morning everyone! It's hard to believe that another month is over isn't it? I'm glad to have October get here though. October just sounds like a cooler month even though I know it typically stays warm here throughout the month.

Today I've made a card using one of the shy bear images. This one is called
Raking It Up and of course it's perfect for the fall. I love the little shy bird in his nest! He looks like he feels quite exposed with all the leaves off the tree.

I colored it with copic markers, chalked the grass and sky, and then stamped some grass sprigs over the chalked grass. I used some more leaves from the tissue paper I got at the dollar store to embellish the top. One of the things I love most about the shy bear images is that Lynne has put in the drawing where shading would be, so it makes it so easy to color and get the shading right. Makes you feel more confident when you color, and more like an artist when you're finished! The words are computer generated.
I made this card for Papercraft Planet's Saturday Sketch Challenge, but I turned the sketch on it's side.

I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday after work and was thrilled to see that they have added tons of stuff to the paper crafting department. One of the things they now have in stock is all of the Spellbinders nestabilities, shapeabilities, and embossabilities! I bought some of the embossing ones and can't wait to find some time to play and experiment with them!

Featured Stamper Card

Hi everyone! Brock's colonoscopy went fine yesterday if you don't count the fact that he thought his appointment was at 7:30 and we were supposed to be there an hour early. Turns out his appointment was at 8:30 and they had already figured in the hour early time for him when they told him 7:30!

Sunday was featured stamper day at Splitcoast stampers and I found a cute little card that inspired me to make this

I used the Flower Bunny image that Ashley drew and colored it with copic markers. I really liked the way the grass was done on the card I CASED, so I mimicked the look by cutting some green vellum and placing it at the bottom of my image panel.

I also really loved all the dots made with the white gel pen. I used a ribbon that had the white dots on it to go along with it. I never use my white gel pen enough. That's one reason I love doing the featured stamper because it makes me use things I forget about.

Shy Bear Treasure Hunt Winner!

Well, Jeri is correct that there were actually six bears instead of five! We had a small glitch and I asked someone else to hide a bear not realizing that there were already five hidden. Jeri, you don't get extra credit but you do get to pick out two of the new shy bear images that were just released and I will also be sending you a goodie bag full of some fun things you can use in your crafting! Congratulations!

Shy Bears and other new things

The shy bears are in the Squigglefly store now, but there's still time to play the hide and seek game we started yesterday. The winner won't be chosen until noon, so if you haven't played yet take a look at yesterday's post here.


I made this card for the Dare You To Digi Stamp challenge where the challenge was to use die cuts or punches on your card.

My die cuts are the flowers on the bottom right, and I used circle punches to punch out the greeting. This is Birthday Bear. I colored the image using these copics



Today is the Squigglefly challenge on the blog and it looks like Kim has given them quite a challenge!
Squigglefly has made a few changes on the web site. There is now a calender on the right side of the home page that tells you when things like new image releases will be happening. Also, did you know that if you ever need to retrieve some images you purchased last month because your computer crashed, that you can right on squigglefly.com! Just head over to Squigglefly's Contact and Support page. Just enter your PayPal email address and the PayPal transaction ID number sent to you from PayPal. You can get your transaction IDs by logging into your PayPal account.

Well, I gotta run! Brock has to go get his colonoscopy this morning, so we are off to the hospital! I'll be back a little after noon to announce the winner of the Shy Bear Hide 'n Seek game!

Where Are Those Shy Bears?

You know the Shy Bears will be released by Squigglefly tomorrow, but right now the little fellows are a bit shy, so they've been hiding out on five of Squigglefly's design team members blogs. You need to help us find them! Go visit the design team blogs and try to find all five bears. Then come back here and leave a comment telling me where they are and tomorrow random.org will pick a commenter. If that commenter has all five blogs correct they will get to choose their choice of two of the new shy bear images making their digi debut tomorrow! Plus I've put together a little goodie bag from my stash.

You can find all the design team blogs on the left of my blog under the Squigglefly Design Team logo. Good luck finding those little guys! The comments left here will remain hidden until the contest is over so people's answers are kept hidden!

Another Peek At Something New

This is my second post today, so if you missed my previous post you should scroll down and look because it's sure to make you smile! Plus, it's a peek at an image that hasn't been released yet. I figured posting twice today would make up for the one day this week I didn't post! Also, the card give away winner is announced there.

It won't be long before the Shy Bears by artist Lynne Stansbery make their digi debut on Squigglefly! I am so glad to have these available digitally! Just to whet your appetite, I've got a card to share with you using a cute little Harvest Shy Bear that will be available Monday.

I followed a sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You and colored it with these copic markers



The grass and sky are chalked. I printed the greeting out on my computer in a font called Jenkins v02 that you can get free here. I did a little swirl piercing to draw attention to the wording.

The little leaf charm is from Autumn Recollections and I used a Martha Stewart punch on the designer paper for my border. I think the rest of the card is pretty self explanatory. I hope you like it and that you are excited as I am about these little guys!

She's A Lady

I got a late start this morning because I stayed up late last night and slept in this morning. I did get right to the color challenge Stef has going on over at Squigglefly's group on card universe.

The colors are red, kraft, bayou blue, and white. I am using an image so new that Squigglefly hasn't even had time to add it to their images yet! I just couldn't wait to use it though, and it was perfect for this challenge. First though I wrote a little song to go with it, and it's to the tune of She's A Lady by Tom Jones.

She'll be available really soon on Squigglefly. I tell you the design team does more than inspire Squigglefly with their card creations, they inspire us in other ways! First Rhonda inspired Rah Rah Rhonda by being Squigglefly's biggest cheerleader, and now Stef has inspired us with her fun party ways in the digi day events!

I colored her with copics and of course added a bit of glitter to her bracelet because it's Stef and she loves glitter! I hope you like her Stef!

Memories

Hi everyone. Did you miss seeing a card from me yesterday? I just got busy and didn't have time to post anything. Also, I decided that since my card giveaway post was buried under two other posts for the voting of the digi day cards that I'd extend that out, so if you would like to have a chance to win the card, go leave a comment here and I'll have random.org pick a winner tonight and I'll post the winner tomorrow.

I'm really glad it's Friday and that the weekend is upon us because I haven't been in my craft room much this week at all and I need some time to play!

I did make a card with the Old Barn image from Squigglefly. I've had it colored for a while, but hadn't made anything with it. When I finally did have time to do something with it I was kind of at a loss.

As I was playing around with different layouts and cardstocks at one point it reminded me of an old photograph so I dug out some old fashioned looking photo corners to give it that appearance.

Then I wanted a quotation or sentiment of some kind so I started googling the internet for different quotations. I finally found one I liked by Grandma Moses. I printed a portion of the quote on my computer and here is the resulting card.

I keep feeling like there is something about tomorrow I'm supposed to remember, but I can't think of what it could be. It's like I have that date on my mind for some reason, but it's eluding me. If you know what it is please clue me in because I don't want to miss out! LOL!

Give Away Day!

Hi everyone! I hope you've taken time to vote on your favorite card for the challenges that we had on digi day at card universe. The winners will be announced later today, so if you haven't voted run and do it now!

Today is card give away day and I've used a brand new image from Squigglefly called Horsing Around.

I think this image is so cute, and sure to be one loved by little girls everywhere. I know my two daughters loved horses and ponys when they were little. We had boxes full of every My Little Pony made!

I colored the image with colored pencils and blended it with odorless mineral spirits. I think I've been away from the pencils a little too long because my coloring leaves a little something to be desired. I chalked the sky and grass and then stamped some grass sprigs on the ground.

The lacey piece on the left is not a border punched piece of paper, but a piece of paper lace that I got a long time ago at a Goodwill store.

The one place I ran into a problem was when it came to the sentiment. I just could not think of anything other than "horsing around"! I do think this would make a cute Valentine if you did it in different colors and had it say "Stop horsing around an be my valentine".

Giving Thanks, and a little praise too

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing great. I'm so happy that today is the official start of Fall! Now the weather just needs to catch up. It's still a little warm for my taste.

With all the hoopla we had over the new images Crissy has contributed to Squigglefly I thought I'd take a little time today to praise another of the fabulous artists they have.
Many of you know that Lynne Stansbery is my sister.

When Squigglefly first came to be, I asked Lynne if I could go through some of her old sketch books to see if there were any images that might be good for digital stamps and I found plenty! First Haircut is one that I found in her sketch book that she drew many years ago.

Now she is drawing on a regular basis and her scenes have become very popular. I love that she can draw something as detailed as Cabin Retreat and something as fun as The Devil Made Me Do It.

Today's card uses a beautiful cornucopia she drew and I hope my coloring does it justice.

My Sketch Challenge

Good morning everyone. I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I did; it just wasn't long enough for me! I found several things shopping yesterday and got good deals because most of the things I bought were discounted 30 and 40 percent and then my friend had a discount scratch off that gave another 30 percent off of that! We both left with several bags of things.

Saturday night on the digi day event at card universe we sure had a fun time! I think Stef had a little too much sugar or someone spiked her coffee because this is a picture I snapped of her at one point

I used the cute little Simon the Squirrel from Squigglefly. I think he is a real bargain at 99 cents! I colored him with these copics



What's hard to see in the photo is at the bottom on the right I curled up the corner of the designer paper and there is a little acorn brad revealed. The words were printed out with my computer, and actually by using a sentiment there I kind of cheated on my own sketch!

Today I will set up the voting poll for the projects that were submitted for this challenge and for Stef's recipe challenge. Voting will take place tomorrow so I'll let you know about where to go vote. There will be a prize given for the project with most votes, but also one for judge's choice.

It's time for another featured stamper card

Hi everyone! Whew, what a whirlwind weekend this has been with the blog hop on Friday and the digi day event last night on Card Universe, I'm pooped! No rest for the weary though. This morning I am going to try to get a couple of this week's dinners fixed so I won't have to cook a few nights during the week. Then I'm meeting a friend for an afternoon of shopping. She needs to look for Fall clothes and I want to try to pick up a few early Christmas gifts so I won't feel so pressured a couple of months from now.

Every Sunday is the featured stamper challenge on SCS and I haven't yet looked at today's featured stamper, but I made this card for LAST week's featured stamper challenge on splitcoast stampers.

I colored the Rainy Day Duckling Charlie with copic markers and then I ran a clear glaze pen over the rain coat and boots to make them look shiny.

I kept the layout of Shannan's card and used the same embossed background, but I changed up the colors and the border punch. My words are computer generated. I used some white opaque rain dots and then colored them red with a copic marker.

I think it turned out pretty darn cute!

He's colored with copic markers and highlighted with a white gel pen. I chalked the sky and ground, and then over stamped the chalked ground with a grass sprigs stamp.
I used some gold brads in the center of the wheels.

I found the perfect ribbon and button in my stash! The ribbon has green and red apples on it, and the button is kind of hard to see in the photo, but it's a shiny red apple with a gold leaf.

I cut the image out with the largest nestabilities label die, and then cut another one out of brown and cut it in half so it could mat the two sides of the image panel. I used a speckled background stamp on the card and computer printed my sentiment.

Squigglefly Blog Hop!

First off I wanted to share the two cards I showed on my previous sneak peeks because some of you who are new to my blog through the hop may have missed them! Click on any picture in this post to see a larger version.

First up I have a card featuring Bubb! He's colored with copic markers and has stickles rubbed on his body. The sentiment is computer generated and under a clear dome sticker.



Next we have Buttons and Bobbles, a couple of love bunnies!
They are also colored with copic markers.



Now I have two new cards to show you! The first one is Oswalda. Isn't she just the fanciest lady you ever did see? :)



She's colored with copic markers and highlighted with a white gel pen. I created the sentiment on my computer and punched it out with a circle nesabilities and sponged around the edges. It's popped up on the card with pop dots. The paper is from My Mind's Eye.

I tied a charm to the knot in the ribbon, and added some liquid pearls for her necklace. She is such a treat to color!

Okay, my last card has a little story that goes with it. Once upon a time there were three cats. They had heard stories from other cats about the great fun they had chasing mice. These particular three cats had never seen a mouse and they wanted to so badly!

One day while amusing themselves with a ball of yarn one of them saw something streak by and alerted the others! They all quickly forgot the ball of yarn and at the same time spotted a little grey mouse! After a second's hesitation they all gave chase!

That little mouse gave them a good run zigging and zagging it's way through the house. The three cats were fast on his tail. Suddenly he decided he had had enough and he stopped and turned to face the cats.

The cats, seeing the mouse stopped and looking at them came to a sliding stop, suddenly the cats were afraid of the mouse! And that is when I took this picture






I colored it with copic markers and chalked the floor and wall. I created the floor board lines by rubbing a sponge of chalk over an edge of cardstock laid on my image panel. The little mouse is cropped from the EEK! image at Squigglefly.

Now while I was taking my photo, my cat came and joined me, and I thought it so appropriate I'll show you the whole picture

This is my 2nd post of the day, so be sure to scroll down to see the latest sneak peek of the soon to be released images from Squigglefly. I had to interrupt my post to share this crazy cat video with you.

We used to have a cat that would stick one paw in his water bowl, let it sit in there a minute, and then pull it out and lick the water off. Then he'd dip and repeat the whole process.

The cat we have now prefers to have his water warm, run in the tub.

I thought these were strange ways for our cats to drink, but I have never seen anything like this!

Sneak Peeks Day Two

Hi everyone! Welcome to day two of the sneak peeks! I hope you've been enjoying seeing the marvelous creations the design team has made with the images Squigglefly will be releasing on Saturday! I know we've all had a blast with these absolutely adorable characters Crissy has drawn.

If you think yesterday and today have been fun, just wait until tomorrow when we have the blog hop! More wonderful inspiration and a chance to win the entire set of new images Crissy has drawn for this release AND more fun things from Crissy's personal stash!

The card I have today features a loving couple of bunnies named Buttons and Bobbles!

Aren't they an adorable couple? I colored them with these copic markers



The sentiment at the top comes with the image. I printed it directly on to my card base. I punched a circle out of some designer paper and punched a couple of holes in it to tie my ribbon through.

I found a cute folksy looking heart punch and punched two to pop up on the card. I did a little hand doodling around the image panel and then highlighted a bit with a white gel pen!

Also, to those of you who have asked about my neck I am happy to report that I am pretty much back to 100%! Really I was almost better by the time my physical therapy appointment arrived, but I kept it anyway thinking maybe I could get some stretching exercises that I could use if I ever have this happen to me again.
She did have me do some exercises and put a cold compress on my neck for a bit, and she has scheduled me for at least four more visits. I have one exercise she is having me do every hour for 8 to ten hours a day. It only takes a minute to do though.

Day One of Sneak Peeks!

Hi everyone! The big day of finally getting to share with you the news that Squigglefly has been sitting on has arrived! I'm super excited to show you all of the cards I've made with the soon to be released images, but I had to narrow it down to one for today's sneak peek!

Isn't he just the cutest little guy? I colored him with copic markers and then rubbed a little stickles over his body. I cut it out with a circles nestabilities and then while it was still in the die I rubbed some blue chalk on the background.

I punched some circles out of some green and purple cardstock and glued them randomly on the designer paper. The sentiment is computer generated and has a clear dome sticker over it.

Can you guess who the amazing artist behind the image is? I'm sure you've seen her precious artwork everywhere, but this is the first time she's done digital, and I can say that Squigglefly and the entire design team are thrilled to have none other than Crissy Armstrong designing such fun things for us!

You'd Better Believe In Fairies!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well today. We got some rain yesterday and the weather has turned a bit cooler which always puts me a good mood!

Today I have a card for you that uses one of the brand new images from Squigglefly. This is called Woodland Nymph and I think she's just about the prettiest little fairy I've seen!

This was made for the challenge at the all sorts challenge blog where the challenge was a sketch.

I colored the image with copic markers and then ran some glue over the wings and sprinkled on some glitter. My flowers were punched out of some designer paper and I put some yellow stickles in the centers.

The words are computer generated in a font called Curlz. You can get it here free if you like it!

I covered my punched border piece with vellum that was punched and embossed with the swiss dots folder. I really like using vellum like this! When I showed this card to Chesney she said I needed to put something on the inside. I pondered that for a bit and finally came up with this

I thought that was appropriate because those gnomes are creepy!

So many wonderfully fun things are happening this week! Tomorrow you will get to see what the Squigglefly design team is so excited about because we will get to start showing you sneak peeks of the fabulous images they will be releasing on Saturday. These images are from an extremely talented artist who is new to Squigglefly and new to digital images! There will be sneak peeks Wednesday, and Thursday, and on Friday more sneak peeks with a blog hop that has a wonderful grand prize of ALL 13 new images plus some other goodies! Believe me when I tell you that you don't want miss out on any of the fun!

Saturday is digi day at Card Universe and there are some fun challenges planned as well as a few prizes! I hope to see you there!

Yesterday I did get to talk to my doctor and they have scheduled me for physical therapy for my neck. I start that tomorrow. Right now my neck is much looser so the pain isn't near as bad as it was. Hopefully the physical therapy will take care of the rest of it and I can get on with normal life! I do appreciate the kind thoughts and caring concern you have all shown me!

Christmas Card Monday

Hi everyone, and I hope your day is as happy as a Monday can be! I for once and glad that Monday is here because that means my doctor's office is open today and I can call to get in to physical therapy and hopefully find some relief for my neck. The stiffness in my neck isn't near as bad as it has been, but the tingly sensation has moved into my arm. Everything I read on line about this is pointing toward a herniated disc, but I also read that it could be due to muscle spasms and I know I've been having a lot of those. In any case, I will be calling today and doing something besides complaining!

Well, today is Christmas card day and the card I have to show you today is one I saw at a scrapbook store and I just thought it was so cute that I came home and CASED it!

Isn't it a cute way to use your scalloped circle nestabilities? I sponged a little darker green around the edges and popped up each layer with pop dots. I had a little package of some red velvet bows and I attached one of those to the bottom of the wreath.

The "very merry" is from Stampin Up. I rubbed some white craft ink over the embossed snowflake background. Anyway, I thought it was a cute and very quick card to make!

Today is the challenge at the Squigglefly blog, so I've got to get by there to check it out. Big things are happening at Squigglefly this week. There will be sneak peeks coming on Wednesday, and a blog hop on Friday with a wonderful grand prize up for grabs!

A Title For This Post Escapes Me

Hi everyone! I really could not think of a witty title for this post. I couldn't even think up a non-witty title! So here's the post sans title!

Good things are happening this week! On Wednesday you will finally get to see peeks of the images Squigglefly will be releasing on the 19th. The 19th is also the big digi day fun at Card Universe. There will be challenges and a couple of prizes.

Tomorrow is another Squigglefly challenge, so be sure to check their blog to find out what it is this week. I have to say Rhonda and Kim come up with some challenges that never fail to challenge me!

On a personal note, my neck is still giving me problems. I will be calling the doctor bright and early tomorrow morning hoping to get set up with some physical therapy. The muscle relaxers and stretches I've been doing have helped it some, but it is far from good. Looking down is not a problem, but looking up or turning my head to either side is not good. Yesterday afternoon it kind of started feeling tingly numb in some areas which I don't think is a good sign. I will say that I haven't been eating much because chewing and swallowing hurt my neck too much! Not exactly a diet plan I enjoy! At least when I'm coloring and card making I am looking down!

What you can't tell in the photo is that the image is set inside a window that is cut out from the front on the card. The designer paper is glued to the front around the window opening. I used the cute little owl from Hooty Who and printed the owl twice. The second owl is cut out and placed on the branch.

The greeting is computer generated and it says "Birds of a feather have a hoot together". The little flower is some chipboard that I coated with ink from an ink pad and I place an orange rain dot in the center.

Butterfly Moments

Hi everyone! It's a little after 3 in the morning and I'm wide awake. I woke up because my neck was hurting when I rolled over in my sleep. I am thinking my neck isn't going to get any better than it is right now on it's own. I will be calling my doctor on Monday and scheduling some physical therapy.

I do have a card that I made, but I'm not really liking it that much. Having neck pain is not good for the mojo!

I used the Butterfly Cluster image from Squigglefly and printed the words on the computer. I used a little swirl of some pearls I recently bought. You could still see the little strip of glue that the pearls are on, so I sprinkled some glitter over them.

Pony Up Cowgirl

Hi everyone! Sorry there was no new post waiting for you this morning. I slept in really late due to the pain pills and muscle relaxers I'm on. I notice a little improvement in my neck today, but it's far from well. I truly appreciate the get well thoughts and wishes! Also, whoever anonymous is thanks for the advice about using cold packs. I did the ten minutes with heat and ten with cold and that does seem to help more than just the heat.

I browsed some blogs when I got up and found the sketch at Dare You To Digi Stamp and thought I'd give it a try.

I used the Cowgirl Up image from Squigglefly. I just love this cute cowgirl! I added some buttons to her hat, but I had to color them with my copic markers to make them red. My little lasso embellishment was made with some hemp cord. My lasso making skills are lacking, but at least it looks like rope.

Sorry it took me so long to get back with the winner. I took a pain pill and a muscle relaxer and fell asleep, so I'm just now getting to it! Random.org picked #2 as the winner which makes Pam the winner of the card!

Prissy Challenge

Hi everyone. I'm making this short and sweet because my neck is killing me. I did go to the doctor yesterday and he took some x-rays and said that I have several degenerative discs in my neck that may be contributing to the problem, but really I just slept in a way that made a muscle in my shoulder tight and the next morning when I had that little "crick" my instincts are to protect it, so I unconsciously bunch my shoulders up which keeps more muscles tense and they are just tight and pulling up into my head.

So, he sent me home with some topical ointment, some muscle relaxers, and some pain pills along with instructions to put moist heat on it and do some stretching exercises. I did that all day yesterday and still don't have that much relief. It even hurts to swallow because the muscles used to swallow are all part of it! He said if I don't feel significant improvement by Friday to call his office and he'll set me up with some physical therapy.

Now for today's card - I made this for the challenge that Squigglefly is having this week. We are to use the colors red & green (but it doesn't have to be Christmas colors) and two stars somewhere on out card. Here's the card I came up with

I used these copics to color it



The words are computer generated, but I can't remember the name of the font I used. The image is one from Squigglefly called Miss Priss. I used a little bit of vellum that was embossed and border punched over the same border on the red piece of paper. I really like that look!
