Friends Are Like Flowers

(this will remain on top until the give away - please scroll down for the current post)

Today's the last day for my blog candy!

there's a lot of stuff here - a Stampin' Up! stamp set (slightly used), some 6x6 papers, some shimmer mist, some ribbon, some snowflake embellishments, some unmounted rubber stamps, some flower stickers, a provo craft die, decorative brads, assortment of embellishments including some of my hand crocheted snow flakes, and a set of blo pens (great for adding speckles to your background!), and a quickie glue pen. Right now I am at 310 followers. For every 3 more followers I gain until the end of this blog candy I will add another something to the prize package! I have added a package of six brass charms, a package of 12 sugar coating glitter by Doodlebug, a Viva Silver Pearl pen, two brand new foam mounted Inky Impressions stamps, a package of 60 self-adhesive clear gems, a four pack of fresh flocking from Studio G, a set of 10 metal tab clips by Making Memories, and seven sheets of hand dyed tissue paper to the prize package so far! When I reach 337 followers I will add this

Five different metal charms to tie on to cards or embellish scrap book pages.

To win this candy, just leave me a comment when I post something. I have a day picked out between October 11th and the end of the month. On that day I will have random. org pick a winner from the comments left on that day. You won't know which day is picked, so your best chance is to comment every day! I will announce the winner of the candy on November 1st! Good luck!

Happy Halloween everyone! I love Halloween and used to really have fun with it, but Halloween has changed so much. Not very many kids trick or treat door to door here anymore. Now they go trick or treating at businesses in strip malls and shopping malls or at planned Halloween activities at churches and schools.

This year I just went and bought a few booklets of coupons for free frosties from Wendy's to pass out. That way we won't have a bunch of candy laying around the house to tempt me, and plus the money for the coupon booklets helps out a charity for foster children. What are all of you doing? Do you get a lot of trick or treaters still?

With it being Halloween you'd think I'd have a Halloween card to show you, but no all of my Halloween cards have been mailed out. I do have a couple of cards to show you that I made for the 29th Hope You Can Cling To Challenge though. This challenge was to not use any stamping other than the sentiment.

I used the lovely sentiment done in Roanne Mathias's beautiful calligraphy Friends Are Like Flowers, and everything else is designer paper and a border punch. I cut my flowers out of designer paper and attached it with a brad.

I liked the way this turned out so much that I made another one with different papers!

I can't believe that forgot to tell you all about Riley's experience with the new groomer. All went well, and the groomer did exactly as I asked. Here's a picture I snapped of Riley today while she was trying to scare a mouse or something out of our fire wood pile.

She didn't get much of her fur trimmed because it's starting to get cooler now, but she's clean (if you don't count the dirt on her chin from chewing on a log in the wood pile!)and her nails are trimmed and all the hair was plucked from inside her ears and they don't look red or irritated like they did the last two times she had that done by a different groomer - so for now we're sticking to this new one!

Be sure to check here tomorrow to find out who wins the blog candy, and thanks for looking!

Oh Sweetie thank you so much for Riley's photo ! She is such a cute dog ! I am happy that you have found a good groomer, she did an excellent job ! Your two last cards are so elegant and beautiful... I have never made a card with just a sentiment on, I will have to try ! Hugs and love from Catherine

Lovely cards and just a beautiful sentiment. We live on a small (7 house) private road and it's pretty dark at night. we haven't had any. Luckily Halloween is my 4 year old grandsons favorite holiday so I was able to make lots of scary ghosties and goulies and capes to send to him in NY. I might just don my witches hat and sit on the front porch and scare the frogs!

Riley looks terrific in her winter do. Glad you like the new groomer.

hugs, eileen

Hello Holly! Riley is sure a cutie! I love both your cards! At first I thought that flower on the first card was one you crocheted! You did an awesome job on them! Hope you have a great Halloween...we pass out candy to the local goblins but I make up special treats for my grandbabies...juices, crackers, granola bars, etc...not so much candy. I like your idea for the frosties! I might have to use that next year!

Oh look how BEAUTIFUL Ms Riley looks in her new "do"! I swear, she's the prettiest dog I've ever seen! I just LOVE her!!! :)

Yes, happy Halloween everyone! Looks like we only have treats with these 2 beauties! I love the sentiment you chose and with papers as fabulous as these, you don't need any stamping! OH WOW, Holly, these look INCREDIBLE! :) Such a well-designed sketch too! Yep...these are to be bookmarked to CASE! :)

Well your contest may end today, but I know the inspiration won't! I can't tell you how impressed I am that you completed ALL these challenges and each one sooo unique! KUDOS to you, GF! (tipping my hat here!)

lovely floral cards. they are such pretty colors and look pretty CAS to make.

Riley looks sooo happy. Seamus got a bath on Saturday while I was at a Stampin' Up! card class.
Hubs couldn't find the doggie shampoo so he used hald a bottle of Bath & Body Works pump hand soap. Now Seamus smells all girlie like Japanese Cherry Blossoms. :O)
Happy Halloween!

Trick or Treat, Holly...I just got finished giving out stickers to the kids. They seem to get older and older every year! I think they should stick to the younger kids...just my opinion!

Anything to do with friend cards can't go wrong. I just spent the last 3 1/2 days with 3 great friends in Texas...can't imagine my life without them...your two cards would be perfect cards to send them..I just might have to case :)

Riley looks awesome!! Have a great night :)

Hi Holly -

I love how your cards turned out. What a lovely sentiment. As for Halloween, we got quite a few kids. I especially get a kick out of the little ones, they are so sweet.
Riley looks adorable. Because she is looking fluffy, she looks like a puppy in the photo.

Our town did it's trick or treat hours on Sat. They've been doing them during the daylight hours (4-6pm) for quite a few years for safety reasons. We had quite a few kids come to our house.
Love your cards. Sometimes it's nice to highlight the designer papers, and you don't need any more than that lovely sentiment.
Riley is sure a cutie. I just gave my little pooch a bath this morning. I always seem to end up almost as wet as the dog by the time I'm finished. It's so nice to have him clean and fluffy again.

Love the difference that colors make in these 2 cards!

Great cards...I need to make some more of those "friendship" kind of cards. Methinks I scare everyone away with my snark. Ha ha.

Riley looks adorable.

A good groomer is worth her weight in gold. The first one I ever found here was NASTY.

SOOOO pretty! I like them both equally. And the colors are just so pretty.

Riley looks great! I haven't found a good groomer for Rags (my wire haired boy) so I've gotten good at grooming him myself. I'm glad you found someone.
