Two Hard Challenges

(this will remain on top until the give away - please scroll down for the current post)

I've got blog candy!

there's a lot of stuff here - a Stampin' Up! stamp set (slightly used), some 6x6 papers, some shimmer mist, some ribbon, some snowflake embellishments, some unmounted rubber stamps, some flower stickers, a provo craft die, decorative brads, assortment of embellishments including some of my hand crocheted snow flakes, and a set of blo pens (great for adding speckles to your background!), and a quickie glue pen. Right now I am at 310 followers. For every 3 more followers I gain until the end of this blog candy I will add another something to the prize package! I have added a package of six brass charms, a package of 12 sugar coating glitter by Doodlebug, a Viva Silver Pearl pen, and two brand new foam mounted Inky Impressions stamps to the prize package so far! When I reach 325 followers I will add this

To win this candy, just leave me a comment when I post something. I have a day picked out between October 11th and the end of the month. On that day I will have random. org pick a winner from the comments left on that day. You won't know which day is picked, so your best chance is to comment every day! I will announce the winner of the candy on November 1st!

Hi everyone. Well I got my house cleaned, my menu planned, the grocery shopping done, and laundry done yesterday. Then I tried to make a few cards and I hated everything I tried. So, I gave up and played with Riley for a bit, fixed our dinner, and then tried it again.

I still had an unbelievably hard time creating these two cards considering how simple they really are. These two cards are for the next two Hope You Can Cling To challenges. The first one was to sew on your card or you could use a sewing image or do faux stitching AND the theme of the card had to be "grateful for friendship". Well, I actually got out my sewing machine and did some stitching on a card! I had it all finished and then I realized that I didn't stick with the theme! So it was back to the drawing board and later I finally came up with this

The pin cushion is from Nina Brackett's Stitched With Love set, and the verse is computer generated. I colored with Copic markers. See what a simple layout this is and there's not a lot of coloring or anything - but I spent forever on this! I think once I realized my first card wasn't going to fit the challenge it threw me off my game! I'll share the card I made by mistake with you tomorrow.

The next challenge was to create a card that uses three designer papers, two embellishments, and one ribbon. Man, did I ever have a hard time finding three designer papers I liked together! This card took me hours just trying to find paper and then decide on an image!

Two of my papers are border punched and mostly hidden. My embellishments are the prima flower with the brad, and the button tied with twine. The image is the little sister from Joni Walker's Big and Little Sisters. I cut her out and colored with Copic markers. She's on dimensionals so she stands out a bit. The sentiment is Birthday Wishes by Jess Holland and it's sponged around the edge with Close to Cocoa ink.

The only thing I have planned today is to walk Riley and then cook a few things ahead for the week, so I have plenty of time to get in my craft room and play! Hopefully I won't have as hard a time as I did yesterday! I want to see who today's featured stamper is and of course see what the new Hope You Can Cling To challenge is! I hope you find time to play today too, and thanks for looking!

Your cards are beautiful! I had to giggle, picking the paper is the absolute most time consuming part of my cards LOL!

I know what it is like Holly, sometimes everything you want to make just doesn't work... But your mojo came back big style and your two cards are so sweet ! Love the little girl sitting on the ribbon on the second one ! Hope you are having a lovely day ! hugs and love from Catherine

You did a marvelous job on each of the cards! I know how hard it can be to get everything to come together just right! For me sometimes it takes days of leaving things in a pile on my table. I walk by and change a few things, then come back later. These are great!

I really like the look of cards when people sew on them. Sad to say,I don't sew!!! Maybe I'll try, it makes the card look so much nicer....I need to get out of my comfort zone, thanks for the push :)

Both cards are great....love looking to get inspired, but have a hard time "putting it all together" as well in short periods of time......thanks for sharing.

I think both of the cards are lovely. Mixing all those design papers must have been a tough one. It's like trying to wear strips, plaid and polka dots in the same outfit. But, you did a masterful job of blending them.

All your hard work paid off. The cards are wonderful. I hate days like that but a walk and think time really helps. When the idea comes it is so much fun.

I tried to post a comment yesterday but for some reason I kept getting an error msg. I wonder if anyone else ever has all the difficulties posting comments that I do?

Yesterday we had bad storms in our area. We were under tornado warning//watch all day till 8 P.m.

Have a terrific Sunday!

Oh I can sooo identify with these dilemmas...'cept its like that every time I make a card! Choosing the papers is the hardest part for me, and knowing I needed 3...oh wow! Honey, I'd be in there for days! LOL
But as usual, you came out with winners! These are sooo FABULOUS! The one with the stitches really grabs me...it gives such a warm, cozy feeling...just like friendship! teehee:) The coloring is GORGEOUS!
I LOVE the DPs you chose for the B'day card...pretty slick how you used the borders...now that's what I call BRILLIANT! :) I love seeing images in the sitting position, and this one is PERFECT for the ribbon! SOOO CREATIVE! These may have been challenging for you, but you would never know it! THEY ROCK! :)

Hugs~

I love both cards! By the way, thanks for the email answer to my last comment. I truly appreciate that. Again, I am not particularly a matilda type person, or any similar people stamp. But I do like this one lots.

I am glad to know I am not the only one that struggles with picking paper LOL Sometimes you start putting the card together and think I don't like that combo and it starts all over again. You did a good job with your cards. Thank you for sharing.

Both are lovely - I especially like the blend of patterned papers you have used.

You colour everything so wonderfully! :)
