Happy Halloween everyone! I love Halloween and used to really have fun with it, but Halloween has changed so much. Not very many kids trick or treat door to door here anymore. Now they go trick or treating at businesses in strip malls and shopping malls or at planned Halloween activities at churches and schools.

This year I just went and bought a few booklets of coupons for free frosties from Wendy's to pass out. That way we won't have a bunch of candy laying around the house to tempt me, and plus the money for the coupon booklets helps out a charity for foster children. What are all of you doing? Do you get a lot of trick or treaters still?

With it being Halloween you'd think I'd have a Halloween card to show you, but no all of my Halloween cards have been mailed out. I do have a couple of cards to show you that I made for the 29th Hope You Can Cling To Challenge though. This challenge was to not use any stamping other than the sentiment.

I used the lovely sentiment done in Roanne Mathias's beautiful calligraphy Friends Are Like Flowers, and everything else is designer paper and a border punch. I cut my flowers out of designer paper and attached it with a brad.

I liked the way this turned out so much that I made another one with different papers!

I can't believe that forgot to tell you all about Riley's experience with the new groomer. All went well, and the groomer did exactly as I asked. Here's a picture I snapped of Riley today while she was trying to scare a mouse or something out of our fire wood pile.



She didn't get much of her fur trimmed because it's starting to get cooler now, but she's clean (if you don't count the dirt on her chin from chewing on a log in the wood pile!)and her nails are trimmed and all the hair was plucked from inside her ears and they don't look red or irritated like they did the last two times she had that done by a different groomer - so for now we're sticking to this new one!

Hi everyone! Well shoot! yesterday I reached 334 followers and the tissue paper pack was added to the prize package, but someone stopped following and I'm back at 333. Oh well, I'll still keep the tissue paper in there and maybe I'll get to add the charms too! Four people need to hurry though if the charms are going in because there's only until tomorrow night left!

I have two cards again today. The first one was made for Squigglefly's blog challenge to use the colors of your season. Since I am experiencing Fall right now I used Autumn colors in this Thanksgiving card

I used the Stacked Pumpkins image by Jane Beljo and colored with Copic markers. The sentiment at the bottom is from Nina Brackett, but I omitted the blowing leaves from the Happy Thanksgiving sentiment before printing it.

I'm not really happy with the rounded corners on this, but I did it because the lower left corner of my card stock was bent in shipping and I forgot to turn it around and make the bent part the back of my card. I didn't like the way it was wrinkled and it was too late to pull my paper and image off, so I opted to round the corners and chop most of the bent part off.

The layout came from Splitcoast Stampers sketch challenge this week. I colored the image with Copic markers and chalked a little yellow around it.

My next card is a Christmas card I made to add to my stash. I used Rich Davis's Christmas Montage and colored with Copic markers. I added a little bit of glitter to the stars. I like the snowflake pattern on my Snowbird Serenade card enough to do it again, but this time I used gold Pearl Ex.

I trimmed around the image panel with some decorative cut scissors and wrapped some red ribbon around the corners. One thing that is really cool about this image is that you could omit some of the squares and enlarge just the ones you wanted and have a whole different kind of image. Really, this one image is like 13 images!

One thing you might not know about Rich Davis is that he has a fun drawing game! If you've got any young to adolescent children on your Christmas list, you might consider looking at Rich's Pick and Draw game. I think it would also make a great gift to give to someone you know who has small children. It's not only fostering confidence and drawing talent in children, but it is entertaining and a great way to occupy them. I think it would make a fun game for families to do together too.

My massage yesterday was great! He worked me over and when I left I felt like spaghetti. He's got this picture in his room of three owls on a limb on a tree. One of the owls is hanging upside down and it says "Nobody's Perfect" on it. Well, I noticed today that he had taped "everybody's" over the "nobody's". I thought that was great!

Hi everyone! Yay for Fridays! How about a little silliness today? Michelle Bertuzi had some new images released at Squigglefly last weekend and this Toaster set was just too cute not to play with!

The toaster comes with a sentiment that says "feeling burnt out?", but I went with my own silly sentiment. I have an online friend who I exchange cards with periodically, and she has a crazy sense of humor so this is going to be mailed to her.

I colored the image with Copic markers and chalked a little around the toaster with some yellow chalk. The sentiment is computer generated and the font is another freebie you can grab HERE. I cut the toast out and popped it up with some pop dots. Nothing special was done on this card, it was just a silly fun card to make for a friend.

My next card is for the Hope You Can Cling To challenge #28 (can you believe I've done all 28 challenges so far?!), and the theme is make time to spend with your girlfriends AND you need to do something to make the sentiment go with the image. Well, that is normally right up my alley but my mind wasn't working too creatively yesterday and I couldn't think of anything great. I did come up with this card for it though.

I used an image drawn by Tracey Malnofski called The Heart That Loves, but I eliminated the words on the image before printing it. I then printed out my own sentiment in another fun font you can grab free HERE. I colored everything with Copic markers, but I did chalk the grass and sky. After the grass was chalked I used an Art Impressions stamp of some grass sprigs and stamped over the chalk with some Green Galore ink.

If you look closely you might be able to see that the yellow strip of card stock was embossed with a paisley design to match the designer paper I used in the background. The embossing was done with a texture plate from Ellison.

Riley is going to the new groomers today and after work I am going to try to go and vote early to avoid the crowds on election day. After that I have my massage scheduled. These massages are deep tissue ones that kill while they're happening, but they really do seem to help with my hip, back and leg problems so I continue on with them!

Hi everyone! Yesterday Elaine M. had a question about the hand dyed tissue paper that is almost in the blog candy package (I only need one more to put it in the box!). She wanted to know if I had a tutorial on how to make it. I did not make this paper, it is some I bought from a company a while back that is no longer in business. I think I have an idea on how she did it though and someday I might play around with it and see. If my experiments turn out nicely I'll do a tutorial then!

Oh I'm so happy today because the high is only going to be 68 and they are saying that it might even dip into the 30's tonight! So how about a couple of winter type cards today?

This first card wasn't made for any challenge (surprised?). I was just making Christmas cards and wanted to color up this fabulous Old Fashioned Christmas Girl by Inger Harding. She's colored with Copic markers and I added flocking to her coat's trim. I rubbed a lot of the flocking off before it all stuck so it would add to the "old fashioned" feel of the card.

The sentiment is another wonderful one from Jess Harding called Have Yourself, and I cut the flag shape and distressed all the edges with some Creamy Caramel ink. I did a little more distressing on the image panel with my scissors.

My second card is for yesterday's Hope You Can Cling To Challenge. the challenge is to use glimmer mist or an equivalent with supplies you have on hand. I went with Pearl Ex for my glimmer

This cute Snowbird Serenade is drawn by Lynne Stansbery. I colored it with Copic markers and chalked the sky. I added lots of snow tex for the snow. Have I mentioned that I love this stuff?

To add glimmer to the card I brayered some Versamark on to a Spellbinders snowflakes impressabilities and then I ran it through my cuttlebug and dusted pearl ex all over it. The pearl ex sticks to the versamark. My sentiment is computer generated. I found this cool font called Billy Argel and you can get it free HERE. The snowflake was punched with a Martha Stewart punch and I added pearl ex to it too and then topped it with a blue gemstone. It's really pretty and shimmery - more so than the photo shows.

On the home front Riley has not been found outside of the fence, so either the plastic is working or she hasn't tried to get out yet. Tomorrow she is going in to get groomed. We are trying a new groomer this time and I really hope this one turns out to be better than the last couple we've used. I have had the hardest time finding a groomer we like since the very first one we had quit! Riley is the first dog we've had that required grooming and it's the one thing about wirehaired fox terriers I don't enjoy!

Also, are any of you aware of this site Fiverr.com? It's a place where you list something you will do for five dollars. The site gets one dollar and you get four. I read about it in a magazine while I was at the doctor's office, and the article said one lady averaged $300.00 a month by writing messages or names in the sand and photographing it and then e mailing people the photo. Anyway I mentioned it to my kids and Ashley now has something she's willing to do for five dollars - interested in seeing what it is? Click HERE. What would you do for five dollars?

Hi everyone! Here it is already the middle of the week! Yesterday Elaine Allen asked this question about my Cherry On Top card

The cherry on top card is adorable. Do you do anything special if you are sending this in the mail, because of the buttons I mean?

Elaine, I tried to find your e mail to answer you, but couldn't find it in your profile so hopefully you are reading this today and will see my answer. I usually cut a piece of thin foam to fit the front of the card so that when it's in the envelope it's padded on the side with the embellishment. I know a lot of people who turn their cards inside out so the embellishments are protected by the card, but some people are a little confused when they receive a card folded backwards so I don't do that. Start saving packaging that comes in stuff you get in the mail and use it when you send off embellished cards!

I have a couple more cards to share with you today, but before I get to the cards I want to give all you Copic owners a little warning. Copic says if you leave the caps off of the markers that they won't dry out - and this is true, BUT I have now found out that if the caps are left off your nibs get all gummy! I had a cap that came off of one of my markers without my knowing it and when I pulled my marker out to use it the nib was all gooey feeling and didn't color well. I assumed it was because I had colored over chalk or something. But it recently happened to another one of my markers and I now know it was due to being left out without the cap on, so I wanted to let all of you know about this too. Thank goodness the nibs can be replaced though!

Okay,both of my cards are for the Hope You Can Cling to challenges. The first one was the 24th challenge and the theme is Girls In Pink. I went with a little bit of sass on my card and used an oldie from Squigglefly called Can Do Girl drawn by my talented daughter Chesney Young.

This has long been a favorite image of mine. She's fun to color and she's got attitude which makes coming up with sentiments fun. The sentiment I used on this card is a quote from Bette Midler and I printed it with my computer. I accented the sentiment with a flower cut from the designer paper I used on the background of this card. The flower is popped up on pop dots.

The girl is colored with Copic markers and all I did was frame her in some brown card stock and round the corners of the paper. The paper, by the way is from My Mind's Eye.

My second card is for yesterday's Hope You Can Cling To Challenge - Cancer Is For The Birds. You are supposed to use a bird image! I chose to use the beautiful Hummingbird that Chesney also drew - and it's a freebie at Squigglefly!

I have hummingbirds that come all summer long and have never seen one colored like this, but I colored my bird based on the colors I found in this picture



Isn't that a beautiful bird? Anyway, I colored the bird with Copic markers and chalked the sky. I sponged some Mellow Moss ink around the scallops and stamped the sentiment from Stampin' Up's Sincere Salutations set in the same ink. The corners were punched and then some iridescent thread was wrapped around it.

Hi everyone! I hope your week has started off well. I think we have a solution to the fence problem and Riley. There is a shop by my office that sells plastic in all forms and I stopped by there on my way home from work yesterday to see if they could cut a sheet about 3 feet high and howver long the gate is where Riley is climbing. They have the perfect plastic for this and we are going to drill holes in the side and use zip ties to anchor it to the gate. I think that when she tries to jump up and stick her little paws into the gate holes this will stop her! Right now I don't think she's figured out that she can climb up anywhere on the fence, just at this one spot that's worked because that's where she goes to do it. Anyway, I'll stop by there after work today and get a piece cut and see if that stops her. I'd love to have a little camera out there to catch her when she first tries it! LOL!

I have two cards to share with you today. The first one uses one of the images by Squigglefly's newest artist Abz Hakim. I love this cute Supermom image, and I love how my card turned out

I left the words that come with this image off and printed my sentiment out on my computer. I picked a Fabulous Fifties font because there's something about Abz style of drawing that reminds me of ads from the fifties. My image is colored with Copic markers and I put some rain dots on her glasses. One of the rain dots was a little too big, but I was able to cut it down to fit. It's good to know that those things are easily trimmed! The designer paper is from Cloud 9 design. I don't know if it's all the purple or what, but I just really think this is a "super" cute card!

My next card is for yesterdays Hope You Can Cling To challenge - Button It! The challenge is to use a button or lots of buttons on your card. The card I did was so simple that I almost felt like I was cheating!

I used the sweet pair of Cherries that Angie Davis drew for Squigglefly and used two big red buttons for the cherries. Very simple and quick!

My sentiment was computer generated and the paper is from the Citrus pack by DCWV. It's hard to believe that there have been 25 challenges so far and I have completed every single one of them! I still need to make a card for Squigglefly's challenge - hopefully I'll get to that this afternoon.

Hi everyone! Why do weekends fly by so quickly? Mine was gone in a flash! Yesterday I told you I'd share the card I made with the wrong theme for the sewing challenge, so here it is!

I used The Morning Brew image by Chesney Young and colored her with Copic markers. I colored her mug to match the paper! The sentiment is computer generated. Now, she may look all innocent and sweet, but the inside is rather different.

LOL! I love cards that zing you with something on the inside! You can see my sewing isn't the straightest, but that just adds to the homemade character, right?

I did get a chance to play in the featured stamper challenge yesterday. I saved several cards from her gallery to CASE later, but here's the first one I tried.

Guess what we discovered this weekend. Riley has learned how to climb the fence in our backyard! I don't know what we're going to do. Brock found her out front Saturday night, and yesterday morning when I let her out I found her out front a few minutes later! At least she isn't running off, but if she were climbing over to go after a squirrel, or a possum or something she'd just keep going after it and end up who knows where!

Hi everyone. Well I got my house cleaned, my menu planned, the grocery shopping done, and laundry done yesterday. Then I tried to make a few cards and I hated everything I tried. So, I gave up and played with Riley for a bit, fixed our dinner, and then tried it again.

I still had an unbelievably hard time creating these two cards considering how simple they really are. These two cards are for the next two Hope You Can Cling To challenges. The first one was to sew on your card or you could use a sewing image or do faux stitching AND the theme of the card had to be "grateful for friendship". Well, I actually got out my sewing machine and did some stitching on a card! I had it all finished and then I realized that I didn't stick with the theme! So it was back to the drawing board and later I finally came up with this

The pin cushion is from Nina Brackett's Stitched With Love set, and the verse is computer generated. I colored with Copic markers. See what a simple layout this is and there's not a lot of coloring or anything - but I spent forever on this! I think once I realized my first card wasn't going to fit the challenge it threw me off my game! I'll share the card I made by mistake with you tomorrow.

The next challenge was to create a card that uses three designer papers, two embellishments, and one ribbon. Man, did I ever have a hard time finding three designer papers I liked together! This card took me hours just trying to find paper and then decide on an image!

Two of my papers are border punched and mostly hidden. My embellishments are the prima flower with the brad, and the button tied with twine. The image is the little sister from Joni Walker's Big and Little Sisters. I cut her out and colored with Copic markers. She's on dimensionals so she stands out a bit. The sentiment is Birthday Wishes by Jess Holland and it's sponged around the edge with Close to Cocoa ink.

The only thing I have planned today is to walk Riley and then cook a few things ahead for the week, so I have plenty of time to get in my craft room and play! Hopefully I won't have as hard a time as I did yesterday! I want to see who today's featured stamper is and of course see what the new Hope You Can Cling To challenge is! Hi everyone! Busy day ahead of me today. I plan on getting my house cleaned up, planning my weekly menu and doing the grocery shopping. It doesn't sound like a lot, but if you saw the state my craft room was in you'd know why the house cleaning part is going to take a while! Plus there's the usual playing with Riley that takes place every day. I also need to get busy on a couple of the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges because I haven't made one for yesterday's challenge yet and there's still todays to do! Plus have you been to Squigglefly today and seen the new release? Wow! There are so many things I can't wait to color and make into a card. What do you think of their new artist? Abz Hakim just made his debut there! I love his style of drawing; it's sort of got a retro look to it. Be sure to go take a look!

Yesterday several of you asked what embossing folder I used on the skating santa card. That is a Sizzix Damask embossing folder. I do have a very unique Christmas card to share with you today. What makes it so unique in my opinion is the beautiful artwork in the image.

This uses Holy Night by Laura Campbell. I love that the corners in this image! I printed it out big so that it would make the whole front of the card. There are so many ways you could color this. Printing it out on some gold card stock would be pretty too.

Yesterday I had some free time at work so I cut up some strips of paper and googled free snowflake quilling patterns and decided to try quilling. I've never done it before, and I have none of the special tools, but I am pretty psyched about my first snowflake!

I actually made two and I think I'll try some other patterns soon. It was fun and certainly didn't cost much to make.

Happy Friday! Even though this week has gone by quickly I am so happy to have the weekend here. I don't know how one weekend not doing what I normally do throws me so far off! Since I spent last weekend with wedding stuff I have seemed to be playing catch up all week long! Our dinners this week have been cooked each night because I didn't get to do my usual cooking ahead for the week, and that has really cut into my time! I hope to get back to my usual routine this weekend!

I only have one card to share with you today. This is for yesterday's Hope You Can Cling To challenge. The challenge is to create your own embellishment.

The image, Figure Eight Santa is from Squigglefly and is colored with Copic markers. The ribbon was red and white, but I colored the white stripes with a green marker so it would go better with the colors in my image. I'm sure you can tell what my homemade embellishment is - I crocheted a snowflake!

Speaking of snowflakes, so many of you have mentioned liking the crocheted snowflakes so I crocheted five to be given away along with a Squigglefly image of your choice in the challenge that is going on at the Squigglefly group on Papercraft Planet, so head over there and see if it's a challenge you'd like to play in.

Hi everyone! This week is speeding by isn't it? I am glad tomorrow is Friday! I need the weekend to catch up on so many things I didn't get a chance to do last weekend - plus my stamping room is a mess with all the cards I've been making lately!

Well, let's get on to the card shall we?

Isn't this a fun one? I really love how it turned out! I used Laura Campbell's Lovely Cake and paired it up with Jess Holland's Birthday Medley. I changed the different birthday words to different colors in Adobe Photoshop Elements before printing. I have a tutorial HERE that tells you how to do that.

Once the sentiment was printed I filled in the "Happy Birthday" with a Quickie glue pen and sprinkled on some glitter so it would stand out a bit more. The cake is colored with Copic markers and I put some yellow stickles on the candle flame.

When I went to put this card together the sentiment panel was cut a little long, but I already had it taped down on one side and I didn't want to risk tearing it by pulling it off, and if I just cut off the other end even with the card it was going to look off center. So, I stuck a piece of foam board underneath the middle of it to make it bow out a bit. I kind of like the look! It makes it a little different from the usual and that's always a good thing!

My next card is for yesterday's Hope You Can Cling To Challenge. The challenge is to create a card following the sketch provided, but you have to follow the theme of dancing. I chose to use the popular Sock Hop Girl drawn by Lynne Stansbery for my dancing girl. She just looks like she's having so much fun dancing the night away at a Friday night hop in her new pink poodle skirt!

She's colored with Copic markers and chalked around the edges. The glittered flower and fabulous LP record embellishments are from a fun little package I got from Marlene a couple of days ago. When I saw the dance theme these embellishments popped into my head and I knew what image I wanted to use! Thanks Marlene, they are perfect and add such fun to the card! Can you believe I have not missed one single Hope You Can Cling To challenge? I'm even surprised!
