Purrfect Gift

Happy Hump Day! One thing I can say about working at a busy place is the week sure goes by fast! Hope you are all doing great. I know I told you I'd be back with one of the new images, but I got side tracked and haven't finished that card yet. I did finish this card though

This darling image is by Diane Carubia and is called Pussycat Present. I colored it with Copic markers and cut it out with a circle nestabilities. A simple and quick birthday card which is what I needed when I found I had almost missed someone's birthday!

One thing I want to remind you of is the challenge on the Squigglefly blog. It's a fun one to use kraft card stock - go play! You might win and have a brand new digi to play with!

also, coming this weekend to my blog is BLOG CANDY! I want to celebrate surpassing 400 followers. I've been shopping and just have to take pictures of it all, but it's all fun stuff!

Have a great day, and thanks for looking!

Coffee, Chocolate, and Kraft!

Happy Monday everyone! Did you get by Squigglefly over the weekend and look at the new images? If you haven't, you should go see because there are some absolutely fabulous ones and they have introduced a brand new artist LuLu Lancaster! Fans of steampunk will love LuLu's artwork!

I will have something to show you soon with one of the new images, but today I have a card that uses one of Joy Hall's images called Coffee and Chocolate. What could be better than that combination?

This was done for yesterday's featured stamper challenge on Splitcoast Stampers. The card I CASED is THIS ONE.

I colored the image with Copic markers and colored pencils. The background was made with a pencil eraser and white pigment ink. I could have been a little straighter with my lines, but honestly I think the bit of crookedness makes you know it was hand made. (How's that for rationalizing?!) I added some crystal lacquer to the chocolate covered cherries. This is also for the challenge at Squigglefly's blog that just started today - Kraftastic! Marlene is challenging us all to use kraft card stock and that is what I used as the base of my card. Be sure to check out the blog to see the wonderful samples Marlene's Marvels have made for you, and pull out your kraft card stock and join us!

Enjoy your Monday, and thanks for looking!

Need Milk?

Hi everyone! Happy Thursday to you! Hope the world is treating you well. My world has been busy, busy, busy! I seriously haven't had much time at all. I have a dentist appointment this afternoon and have to leave work a couple of hours early, so the past few days I've been working late to make up for it. Seriously though, even if I wasn't making up time I'm taking off I'd probably have to stay late just to catch up on things. This place has needed to hire someone for a long time and they've just been making do with temps so they are so far behind and very disorganized. My plan is to get them organized once I catch up on the things that are urgent. I really can't wait to get started on the organization part though as it will make my job much easier having that done!

Anyway, enough of that - let's get on with some fun stuff and the reason you come to my blog in the first place - a CARD!

I had a lot of fun coloring this image. It's called Wanna Milk A Cow? and is drawn by Lynne Stansbery. I had a little bit more trouble coming up with a sentiment I liked, but in the end I went with a twist on the old Oreo commercial "Got Milk?" I think the fruit in the basket could be apples, but I went with peaches.

It's colored with Copic markers and chalk and the sentiment is computer generated. I hope you all understand that I'd love to be visiting your blogs and seeing your artwork, but right now it's just not possible. The weekends is about all the time I have to do that! It'll get better soon (knock on wood!)

If you are lucky enough to have some crafting time available - please go by and play in Squigglefly's Hang Ten Challenge this week! Be sure to check out Squigglefly on Saturday morning for all of the new releases. There are some wonderful new ones coming and they are introducing a brand new artist who I'm sure you'll all love!

Thanks for looking!

I Hate My Job

Good morning everyone! I'll bet the title of my post has you all shaking your heads since I just had my first day of my new job yesterday! But, this is not about my new job, this is about Mothermark's teaparty and the card I made for it!

The teaparty this week is all about Lester Chester, the Jester Tester! (Say that three times real fast!) It seems that Lester is having trouble finding a good court jester and it's put Lester in a bad mood. Lester's wife Esther, has asked all of the teapotters to please help Lester find a good court jester so her husband will quit coming home all sour faced and pouty.

Well, I knew immediately the perfect jester for the job! Squigglefly's Court Jester drawn by Lynne Stansbery was perfect don't you think?

I colored him with Copic markers and computer generated the sentiment. Here's a peek at the inside

Now as far as my job goes - time will tell. Yesterday was mostly spent trying to find where things are. there have been several temps doing my job and each one has done it differently so their filing is a complete mess! I think once I find where things are and get the hang of what I'm supposed to do, it will be fine.

I hope all of you enjoy whatever your job may have in store for you today, and thanks for looking!

Hang Ten Challenge

Good morning and Happy Monday to you all! This morning I begin my new job. Several of you have asked what I'm going to be doing, and all I can tell you right now is that I'll working at the North Little Rock Housing Authority as assistant to the staff administrator. I don't know what all of my duties are at this moment, but I'll fill you in when I know more!

Today is a brand new challenge on the Squigglefly Blog! Heather's Headliners are back with a Hang Ten Challenge! The challenge is to use a human or animal image that shows hands, feet (shoes, footie pj's, etc. are ok), paws or claws or incorporate fingerprints, footprints or animal tracks into your project. Sounds easy enough doesn't it?

I just had to use the new AFTER DARK image by Marlene called Live A Little because this lady is letting it ALL hang out! LOL! Warning - if the nude body offends you don't scroll down!

I colored her with Copic markers and chalk. The sentiment is computer generated. Here's a look at the inside.

I hope you'll take some time to play along in the challenge this week too! Be sure to go see what the Headliners have done - you're sure to be inspired! Thanks for looking, and have a fantastic day!

dancing princess

Happy Friday everyone! The rain we FINALLY got the last couple of days has pushed in some cooler weather and it is just wonderful! It's actually in the high sixties this morning!

I've got a massage after work to look forward to all day, plus there are new images being released at Squigglefly later tonight so it's a wonderful day! A friend of mine requested a birthday card with the sentiment "Happy birthday Princess" because that's what she calls this little girl. Well, I thought Amanda Ballerina by Joy Hall was the perfect little "princess"
for a birthday girl!

I used Copic markers and chalk to color, and then I embossed her crown with silver embossing powder.

I hope you have a fantastic day, and don't forget to check out Squigglefly later tonight to see what's new in the store!

Summer Smile

Happy Sunday morning to you all! I have already made a card for the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoast Stampers and decided to share it with you today!

The card I CASED can be seen HERE. I had a lot of fun combining different Squigglefly digis to -re-create the scene she had on her card.

The two flowers come from the Fun Flowers Set, and the butterfly is from the Bees and Butterflies Set. I colored with Copic markers and added some diamond dust glitter to the butterfly. The sentiment was computer generated in Pea Steph font. (you can download the font free HERE).

Today is the very last day you can play in the Heavy Metal challenge going on at the Squigglefly Blog. Tomorrow a brand new challenge will be announced!

Wishing you a wonderful day, and thanks for looking!

just bee cause

Hi everyone! Are you having a great weekend so far? Squigglefly has a brand new release today that may make your weekend even better! I'm working on a card that uses one of the new releases, but for now I'm sharing a card that I made for Mothermark's Teaparty on Splitcoast Stampers this week. The story is that Bee-anca is a bee that has a bird friend named Bree who is being bullied by a big bee. Bee-anca found out that the bully bee is allergic to daisies, so all the teapotters were asked to bring daisies to the teaparty to make the bully sneeze enough to bring him to his knees so he could no longer bully poor Bree.

I happened to think that Flower Love Bee was the perfect image to use for my teaparty card.

I colored him with Copic markers and chalk and then added a bit of yellow flocking to his body. The background was done with one of the impressabiliites from Spellbinders. I computer generated the sentiment.

Yesterday Ashley came for a short visit. We went out to lunch and then she helped me pick out some new clothes for my new job. After our trip to the mall we came home and played games with Chesney and her husband. It was fun family time and so good to have my family together even for such a short visit.

Today I am planning on getting some meal preparation done, and then maybe hit another store or two for some more work clothes. I also plan on going to the hospital to visit that new grand baby my best friend just welcomed to the world! I hope all of you have a wonderful day, and thanks for looking!

He's here

After over 24 hours at the hospital waiting for him to make his appearance, Aiden Michael is finally here! I couldn't stay and wait it out, but this morning my friend has sent me this picture of her new grandbaby

I Really Dig You

hi everyone! Well I passed my background check and my driving record has also passed muster, so that means I will begin my new job on Monday. I'm really glad that I don't have to start work today, because today is the day my best friend's grandson is going to be born and I want to be at the hospital with her to help welcome him to this world.

I am leaving in just a bit to meet her and we will enjoy a breakfast together and then head to the hospital to wait. I will share pictures later!

Today i wanted to share a card I made for a challenge on the Outlawz. We were to make something that showed things we find in our garden, and if any of you know Riley, then you know that we often find her digging something in the yard, so I thought the Digging Dog image from Squigglefly was appropriate.

I colored this with Copic markers and used chalk for the sky. The sentiment was computer generated. The border was made with a Fiskars embossing punch.

I hope you have a really wonderful day, and thanks for looking!

Feathered Friend

Happy hump day! (even though it's not officially hump day yet! I had this set to post Wednesday morning and blogger has chosen to go ahead and post it early.) I'm happy to report to you all that as of yesterday afternoon I am once again employed. I will begin my job later on this afternoon. This morning I am going to get a background check and a driving record check done, and once I've got that I will go to my new job! I'll let you all know how I like it once I've been there a bit. For now, it just feels good to have a job again. I am not cut out to stay home all day long.

Today I wanted to share a card I made for the featured stamper challenge on Splitcoast Stampers this past Sunday. If you would like to see the card I CASED, it can be seen HERE. And, here is the card I made

My bird image is from Squigglefly and is called Feathered Friend. I colored it with Copic markers and sponged a little Taken With Teal ink around the edge of the image panel. The sentiment was computer generated.

I used parts of a nestabilities die for the decorative bits on either side of the panel, and added pearls.

If you're looking for a fun challenge to join, check out the Heavy Metal challenge at Squigglefly! Have a fantastic day, and thanks for looking!

Cheap Make Up

Well happy Tuesday to you all! No break in sight for our heat wave, and we could use a nice long, soaking rain too!

Yesterday a new challenge began at Squigglefly's blog and this week is Marlene's Marvels who get to inspire you! Marlene has issued a Heavy Metal Challenge. No, you don't have to get out your old record albums or paint your face up like Gene Simmons to play along! LOL! Marlene wants you to use metal on your project! Try brads, or staples, or eyelets, or some of that fun art foil! For my card I went the cheap route and used plain old tin foil from my kitchen cupboard!

I used MakeUp Queen for my image and colored her with Copic markers. I went a little heavy on her blush, but that was so my sentiment would make more sense! At least she doesn't look like Gene Simmons, right? LOL!

I used some silver embossing powder on her earrings and bracelet, and then I filled the middle of the earring with glitter. The background is a piece of tin foil covered cardstock that I embossed with an embossing folder. The sentiment is computer generated and popped up with pop dots.
The card base even has a metallic sheen to it!

I hope you'll go have a look at what the Marvels have done with this challenge. They have all done a fantastic job and used metallic elements in such fun ways. Play along yourself for a chance to win some free Squigglefly!

Have a great day, and thanks for looking!

Hi everyone. Sorry it's been a few days since I last posted anything. Job hunting right after working two weeks at a new and extremely stressful job just takes the creativity out the window!

The heat here has been unbearable. We have been on high alert the past couple of days with our heat index in the 105 degree range. Needless to say, I've been indoors avoiding it at all costs. I thought trying to make some Christmas might make me feel a little cooler. I kept trying to think to myself as i was making this "by Christmas I'll be employed".

Marla Shega has some of the most wonderful images at Squigglefly, and this darling Rudolph just drew me in. I colored with Copic markers and dotted a bit around him for the background. I used a red button on his nose and printed the sentiment out with my computer.

Today is the very last day to enter Squigglefly's "Good Old Days of Summer" challenge, so if you've got a card you've been meaning to enter you shouldn't hesitate any longer! I'm hoping the creativity flows a little better for me today. I'm going to start by checking out Splitcoast Stampers featured stamper challenge. Enjoy your Sunday, and thanks for looking!

A Year Without Summer

Hi everyone! Well, the place I quit tried to get me to come back, but I told him I knew it wasn't for me. To tell you the truth, I don't think it's for him either. I think he is too nice to be partners with the store in Tyler, and my prediction is that before long he will sell his share of the store here to them and be on his way to something else. I did go on an interview for a job yesterday, and I think the interview went really well but I have reservations about this place. One thing that's a red flag is that there are about five open positions right now and it's got me wondering what's wrong with the place that so many places need to be filled. I have a feeling they will be calling me soon to offer the position to me, and I'm not sure I'd take it with what my gut is telling me.

Today someone called me in response to my resume and I have a phone interview set up for Monday morning. I am hoping to find out a little more about what this position entails before the actual interview so I will know if it's something I want or not. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just work a day or two on a trial basis before we have to decide?

Well, I had another summer time image printed out for the In The Good Old Summertime challenge going on at the Squigglefly blog, so I thought I'd go ahead and color it. This is one of my favorite Shy Bear images called Tubin' Bear.

I colored this with copic markers and went with hot colors. The sky is chalked. I found this old Swedish proverb and printed it out with my computer. I actually think that a year without summer would be fantastic, but I'm sure the author of this quote loved summer!
To make the sun glinting on the water, I added some stickles.

I wish you all a fantastic summer's day, and thanks for looking!

The Good Ole Summertime

Hi everyone! I hope your fourth of July celebration was a fun one. Yesterday I worked on a card for the Squigglefly challenge In the good Ole' Summertime. to me summer is all about escaping the heat, and the best way to do that is to relax in a Cool Pool, and this image drawn by Teresa Ward was perfect!

I used copic markers to color and added a bit of stickles to make the water sparkle in the sun. The sentiment was computer generated and I added a couple of light green square gems to either side of it.

Today I am making calls on jobs and sending out resumes. I've also got to get my car into the shop because we noticed a tack was in one of the tires and it was getting low! Wish me luck!

Monday, July 4, 2011

Hi everyone, and Happy 4th of July to you all! Today is a brand new challenge on the Squigglefly blog, and it's Heather's first time up as design team leader! Swing by and see what the Headliners have done with her challenge which is "The Good Ole' Summertime!" I plan on making a card for that challenge today!

Well, I have a bit of news to share with you today concerning my new job. Friday was a day from Hell. I didn't leave work until 6:30 and I still had a pile of stuff on my desk to do. Earlier in the day I actually walked back to my boss's office to tell him that I was going to make Friday my last day, but when I got to his office he had some people in there and the door was closed so I walked back to my office. Later he came in to my office for something and I told him that I just didn't think I was going to make it. He was really nice and sat down and talked to me telling me I was doing a phenomenal job and he asked me to just give it a couple more weeks. Then later I was talking to a couple of other ladies who have been working there a month longer than I have and they were both complaining about the extra hours they are working. That pretty much told me that a couple of more weeks wasn't going to make a difference. The simple fact is there is too much work for one person to do. Plus, I had in the back of my mind that the people in Tyler, Texas had told me that it would be a year before I got help. I just couldn't fathom doing that every day for a year.

When I finally left for home I had a lump in my throat and there were tears running down my face before I reached my driveway. When I got inside I just broke down. I know that if I feel that badly after only working at a place for a week, that it isn't for me. I talked about it with my husband and spent a lot of the night and the next day thinking about what I wanted to do, and I finally made the decision to quit. It is better to leave now before they invest any more time in me and maybe they can still contact the other people they interviewed for the position. so, now I'm back job hunting again - which isn't fun by any means, but I do feel good about my decision.

So yesterday, I played a bit making a couple of cards and this is one of them.

I used the Oh No, She Didn't! image from Squigglefly and colored with Copic markers. I cut the letters out with my Cricut and then glittered them with some emerald green glitter. That's what I was feeling like all of my friends are saying about me when they hear I quit my job! LOL!

Tonight we're going to watch the fireworks display put on by the city and we're eating chili dogs for dinner! I hope you have a wonderful celebration today no matter what you do. Thanks for looking - and listening!

Birthday Teetotaler

Good morning everyone! I did find a little time to make a card yesterday evening. I am looking forward to spending some serious crafting time this weekend!

Yesterday at work there were more things I did that I wasn't so confused with, so I think I'm getting it! I hate that "oh no, I think I screwed something up!" feeling!

Okay, on with my card. This is a birthday card for my cousin. I used the Party Gal by Nate Owens and colored with Copic markers.

I used a little bit of glitter on her earring and necklace. The sentiment was computer generated. Here's the inside

The straw is attached with glue dots. Thanks for looking, and enjoy your Friday!
