Fruit of the vine

I've got a giveaway going here if you're interested in new Spellbinders dies! I'll be picking the winner this afternoon and will announce the winner tomorrow morning.

Hi everyone! I hope your week is going well!  Happy Leap Day!  Yesterday Outlawz had a color challenge to use black and white and throw in one other color. I always love red with black and white so that's what I went with.

I used the wonderful new Cocktail Waitress image drawn by Fawn Palmer and colored her with Copic markers. She comes with five different sentiments that are all cute - you need to go see!  The background was created with a Stampin Up! wheel, and you can see where the edge touched the card stock - oh well!
This was such fun to color, and I love the doodled frame around her!

Do you remember gum wrapper chains? Well the kids at work love to get a piece of gum when they come over and I started saving the wrappers and showed them how to make a chain. They were more interested in giving me the wrappers and having ME make the chain, but the other day Tara asked me what I was going to do with it. I wrapped it around her wrist and said "It could be a bracelet", and then I held it up to her neck and said "or a necklace", and then I held it up to her waist and said "or a belt" and then I held it up to the headband she was wearing and said "or I could make you a headband with it." She lit up at that and said "That's what I want you to do! Make me a headband!" So ever since then when she hands me a gum wrapper she asks me if it's long enough for a headband. This weekend I finished her hand band

I added some sparkling red glitter because I know she loves sparkle. Yesterday I gave her the headband and she put it on and I asked her to strike a pose for me to model it

would you say she likes it?

A Whole Latte Love

I've got a giveaway going here if you're interested in new Spellbinders dies!

Hi everyone! If you'v been a friend of Squigglefly on Facebook then you would have gotten this adorable cup for free along with a sentiment that says "I love you a whole latte". I used the image to enter in Outlawz Clean and Simple challenge which is to make a card with a splash of red.

I colored the cup with copic markers, paired it with some pretty designer paper and a border of red ribbon trim, and then computer generated the sentiment at the bottom of the card.  This is about as simple as you can get!   I know a lot of you will ask what the font is because it's such a pretty one, and it is called Scriptina and you can download it from Dafont for free!

Birthday Cupcakes

I've got a giveaway going here if you're interested in new Spellbinders dies!

Happy Monday everyone! Did you have a good weekend? I did. My muse was in town big time yesterday and I got so many cards made! I've actually got two to share with you today.

The first one was made for the Queen For the Day challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. I chose THIS CARD to CASE.

I used the new Cupcake Kit by Jane Beljo. This set is so cute and has three different cupcakes and a candle too!

I colored with Copic markers and used a little bit of stickles on the icing and a lot of stickles around the sentiment which was computer generated. The embossed part at the top of the card was done with one of the new Mbossabilities embossing folders I won from Spellbinders.
These folders are cool!

My second card was for the Featured Stamper challenge.  I picked THIS CARD to CASE and used the same cupcake set image. I printed this image out three times and cut it apart in layers so i could pop them up.   The icing is popped up and then the flower is popped up on that.  The photo looks like the icing is white, but it's colored a very pale yellow.

The sentiment at the bottom is one by Jess Holland that can be purchased at Squigglefly HERE I changed the color of the sentiment before printing so it would match my card better. You can see how to do that by watching this video.

Today begins a brand new challenge on Squigglefly's blog, so if you get a chance go see what the design team has done!

Look what I got!

My Spellbinders prize came in the mail Friday!

There are two packages of dies that I know I won't use so I'm going to have a give away! No hoops to run through or anything, just leave a comment for me telling me which of the new release images at Squigglefly you like the most and I'll pick a winner on Leap Day - February 29th!

The two dies are the Decorative Dress Forms and the Sewing Elements.
Please don't leave a comment unless you really like and want and can use these dies!

Aren't the new images at Squigglefly awesome? I love them all - especially the Easter Bunny Bouquet by the new artist Squigglefly introduced Louis Gardner!

Ladie's Tea

Hi everyone and hip hip hooray for Friday! I've got a card I made for the Squigglefly challenge which is to use yellow.

I used an image by Diane Knott called Tea. I love the delicate look to this tea cup and the vines along the side!  It's colored with Copic markers and I just added a little ribbon and some pearls to dress it up!

You've still got time to play in the challenge yourself, and even if you don't play you should browse through the entries because there are some gorgeous cards people have been submitting!

A Dog With Heart (s)

Hi everyone! I'm so ready for the week to be over. This has been a long week for some reason. We've had almost summer like temperatures the last couple of days. Today will be near 80! It is WAY too soon for that! Even though I know so many of you would love to have these warmer temperatures I just can't help but feel sad that we didn't have much of a winter.

I've got a card today that you might associate with Valentines Day because of the heart shaped balloons, but I think they will be a cute card just to send to anyone you care about.

The image is called Valentine Pup and is drawn by Linda Birkinshaw. I colored it with Copic markers but chalked the sky. Then I used my grass stamp from Art Impressions to stamp grass and made little dots with markers so it would like little field flowers.

I've got a card made for Squigglefly's challenge that I'll share with you tomorrow!  Thanks for looking!

Purrfect Knitting

Hi everyone! I've got another knitting card to share with you today.

I made this for the Outlawz clean and simple challenge which was to use an animal or animal print on your card.  The image is another cutie from Fawn Palmer called Knit 1 Purr 2 and it comes with the sentiment!

The balls of yarn and knitting needles on the inside are from another set Fawn drew called I Heart To Knit.  Everything is colored with Copic markers and I chalked the background behind the kitty and the floor.

Don't forget to play in Squigglefly's challenge!  This week the challenge is to use yellow in your project.    You can do that, right?

Knit Wit

Hi all! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was the usual - fun and productive but over way too quickly. Yesterday was the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoast Stampers and when I saw THIS CARD in the gallery I knew what I wanted to do

I used the balls of yarn from the Knit Kit at Squigglefly and colored with copic markers. The sentiment is one I came up with and design team member Charlene Mitchell made it up into some fabulous word art that she is offering for free! She has another version of this too. Charlene doesn't have a blog, but if you e mail her at and tell her you'd like the word art she will be happy to send it to you!

The Knit Kit comes with five different images and they are all from artist Fawn Palmer. I used another image from the set and computer generated a sentiment for the inside.

Today begins another new challenge on the Squigglefly blog and I hope you'll play along!

Have A Heart Challenge

Hi everyone! Today is the day of the week that all Squiggleflier's know is
NEW RELEASE DAY!   And today Squigglefly is introducing Matthew Finger

Tomorrow is the very last day to get your card entered into Squigglefly's blog challenge, and I have waited until the last minute for my entry.  Hopefully it was worth the wait!

I used Suzanne Urban's (Love her art work!) Speed Diva  and colored her with Copic markers giving her a pretty little "pink Cadillac" and some little hearts puffing out the back because she's ridin' on the freeway of LOVE!  LOL!  The sentiment is computer generated.  This was a fun card to make!  Don't you love her soft serve ice cream hair do?

Jumping For Joy

Happy Friday everyone! I'm ready for the weekend, how about you? Yesterday I showed you a card with one of Eszter Csokas's dogs, and today I'm sharing another one with you. This one is called Cherry Picking and it reminds me of Riley so much!

If there was a squirrel instead of cherries in that tree Riley would be jumping just like this dog!  Eszter has really captured the intense focus that dogs have! I used Copic markers to color it and chalked the sky.   The sentiment is computer generated.

You still have time to play in Squigglefly's blog challenge and win yourself a free image!  More new images coming tomorrow too so you'd have more to choose from!  Squigglefly  will be introducing another new artist this weekend; Matthew Finger!   So be sure to drop by tomorrow to see what's new!

Artsy Fartsy

Hi all! did you have a nice Valetine's Day and did your sweetie wine and dine you and shower you with chocolates? I had a nice day and evening. I was able to give all three kids their valentine mailboxes and they loved them. They enjoyed the candy and the little trinkets that I had enclosed, and they had plans for playing "post office" with the mailboxes. They were so sweet because they all came over with a decorated bag that they had put some chocolate candies in and they had stuffed purple tissue on top and a sweet card they each signed. They all gave me a hug and thanked me for their gift too.

Brock and I had plans to go out to eat, but the place we were going to go to didn't have the one thing we both wanted available, so we opted to save it for another night and I made omlettes instead. I did get a really sweet card from him though!

Now I don't know if you've seen the artwork of Eszter Csokas on Squigglefly or not, but this lady knows dogs! She can capture their personality so well!  I love looking at them - they make me smile.  This particular image is called A Dog Of Culture.

I think it's such a funny image.  I can't decide if the dog is thinking "why didn't you hang MY picture up there?" or if this is his version of the teenage guy's poster of Farrah Fawcett!  LOL!  Since their is "fine art" involved here I dressed the card up with lace and pearls.    This will be going to a fellow dog lover.

If you haven't become a friend of Squigglefly on Facebook, you should!  Yesterday there were two freebie images given out to Facebook fans!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi everyone! Well, we didn't get much of anything weather wise, but it was a good day to be home. I got lots of cards made so I'll have something to share with you every day this week! Today's card is for Mothermark's Teaparty going on at Splitcoast Stampers.

I used the Tea Roses image by Marla Shega.

I colored it with Copic markers.  The sentiment was a freebie from Squigglefly, but it was a limited time offer and is no longer available.

I also spent a little time yesterday getting the Valentine's for my boss's kids ready.  I had such fun putting these together for them.

There's candy and a few small gifts inside. I think they'll enjoy them and I can't wait to give them to them. I hope you have a very happy Valentine's Day and that you are able to spend it with the one you love!

The Cat's Pajamas

Good morning everyone! I had a nice surprise and got the day off! We are under a winter weather advisory, and my boss called me last night and told me not to come in today in case the roads are bad later. It hasn't started snowing or anything yet, but the weather forecast looks like it won't be long. We are slated to get more ice than snow, which isn't much fun! I hope we don't lose our power!

Today is a brand new challenge on the Squigglefly Blog. This week Holley has challenged the Hobbiest's to have a heart and use hearts in their projects somehow. I will be making a card for that a little later today as I do have a couple of last minute valentines to make! Today I have a card that was made just for fun. I so loved this image Pajama Cat by Monica Estill when it was released at Squigglefly on Saturday and couldn't wait to color it!

I used copic markers to color it and a mix of fun papers. The chain running down the edge of the card is flocked which I love. The sentiment was computer generated.

On a personal note we were able to remove the bandage on Riley's leg. She's all healed up so we took advantage of the cold weather we had yesterday and went to the park to hunt up mice. We didn't find any mice, but we had a good time and she got worn out. I took the camera along and am sharing a bit of our day with you here. If you can't see the video on my blog, you can view it at you tube HERE

Wishing Big

Hi everyone!  It's Friday and that is always a good thing.  There's still a couple of days to make a card for the birthday card challenge going on at the Squigglefly blog.  Remember that if you use a Squigglefly image and go to Rhonda's blog and let her know you will have a chance to win a Fancy Pants pad of paper!  Plus if you use a Squigglefly image you're always in the running to win a free item of your choice from Squiggefly's store!  And tomorrow your choices will be even wider because there is another release of new images!  AND this week Squigglefly is introducing Linda Birkinshaw!  Be sure to come by and see her terrific artwork!

I have a birthday card today that is intended for a man, because we all know how much men love their big screen tv's and this Contemplating The Big Screen image from Chesney Young is perfect!

I colored this with copic markers and chalked the background.  The sentiment is computer generated.  I tried different papers with this and none of them worked, so I left it plain.  The inside is also computer generated

Come on, you know I'm not buying a big screen for anyone!

Speaking of big gifts, yesterday I was paid a visit by my boss's daughter Tara.  She has a birthday coming up this month and I asked her what she wanted.  She said "an I-pad!"  I said "Well Tara, you know the chances of me getting you an I-pad is zero, so what else do want?"  she said "I REALLY want an I-pad."  So I said "Let's make a list of the things you want.  We'll call it Tara's Birthday Wish List."  At the top I wrote that out and then I wrote #1 - I-pad.  "So" I said, "What's #2 on your list?"  With absolutely no hesitation she said "a laptop with my own printer!"  We ended up listing about 16 things and they included a treehouse with a swing under it, a family sized trampoline that her whole family could jump on but it would be HER trampoline so they'd have to ask her if they could jump on it, a cat of her VERY OWN, a dog of her VERY OWN, and a desk and filing cabinet.  I know her parents would love me to bring her a dog or cat!

I had some little flowers I had crocheted for card embellishments and I gave her one.  I told her she could color it with the markers and she loved doing that.  I ended up giving her all of the flowers I had made and she colored them all.  We took one of them and tied it around her headband.  I took her to the bathroom so she could see in the mirror and when I started to lift her off the counter she said "Wait!  I have to do my happy dance!"  and then she danced a little jig!  LOL!  Someday I will have to take my camera and film her because she is so funny and sweet!

On another note, we took Riley out to the park yesterday after work.  She ran all through the woods hunting for mice - and found a nest of babies too!  Poor things didn't know what hit them!  Anyway, we then head for home.  We were in separate vehicles since I had driven there from work and met Brock and Riley, so Brock takes a very dirty Riley in his truck and I drive home.  I was running water to give Riley a bath when they got in and Brock said it looked like there was blood on the towel that he had used to wipe some of the dirt off of her.  I checked her out and didn't see any blood and then I put her in the tub and washed her up.  When I got her out and dried her off I opened the door to let her do her manic after bath run and there was blood everywhere!  She was bleeding like a stuck pig!  We found she had cut her paw and we could not get it to stop bleeding.  I am assuming that the cut was packed with dirt before which is why it wasn't bleeding when we checked her and the bath loosened it up.  Anyway, it was off to the vet's office!  I'm glad they stay open until 7 or we would have been paying a lot more for emergency care.  The vet said it wasn't a bad cut, but it had cut a blood vessel which is why it was bleeding so much.  She cleaned it out and wrapped her leg up and said to leave it bandaged for three days.  Just another day in the life of Riley!  If she were a cat she would have used up all of her lives by now!

Well, I talked your ear off didn't I?  Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Have an extra card?

Hi everyone. Mid week is here already - this week is going faster than last week for some reason.  I saw a blog yesterday and wanted to share it with you all so that you can help too!  If you have an extra card in your stash, I'm sure you'll be wanting to send it to Sebastian.  You can read his story HERE.   Even if you don't have an extra card and don't have time to make one, go pick one out at the store and spend 44 cents on a stamp to send it off.

I'm going to be sending this card to Sebastian

This is Valentine Frog Prince by Suzanne Urban.  I think most young boys like frogs, and if they ever found one holding chocolates and wearing a crown they'd be over the moon!

My boss and his family went to Houston, Texas over the weekend to go to a Monster Truck show.  Yesterday his nine year old son came in to the office after he got out of school and he was telling me about it. I said "You know that where you went is where I was born?"  He looked at me with the biggest eyes and said "Really?  You were born in that stadium?"  LOL!  I thought that was pretty funny!

Have a great day, and thanks for looking!

Birthday Challenge!

Hi everyone!  Sorry for no post yesterday, but I spent Saturday with my daughters and their husbands and my husband, and on Sunday I was cooking for the week and then we took Riley out to the park for quite a while.  I have to tell you about Riley's outing.  We were out in the woods and she's sniffing all the trees and finding holes in the trees to sniff out.  One tree that had fallen over had rotted out some and she was insisting there was something really interesting in that tree!  Brock pulled one section of the tree away to open it up more and she jumped up in the tree and burrowed all the way in!  I was afraid for a minute that she wouldn't be able to back out, but she did.  Then she found this tree that had a hollowed out place at it's trunk and she was sticking her head in and trying to pull pieces off with her mouth.  She went at this thing for ten or fifteen minutes and then she started kind of yelping - it sounded at first like she was frustrated that she was working all this time and not getting anywhere, but then her yelping turned into more distress and fear.  Brock and I were just about to go see what was up when she pulled out and was fine.  We think her collar had gotten hung on something in there and it scared her for a minute.  That minute of fear wasn't enough to stop her though!  She was right back at it!

Okay, enough about miss Riley and her adventures!  Let's talk cards!  Yesterday was a brand new challenge on the Squigglefly Blog, and Rhonda has come up with one close to my heart.  It's Birthdays!  You can make a card, a tag, a gift box; whatever you want as long as it has to do with birthdays!   You need to see the absolutely fantastic cards the design team has made.  They are really so great!  You need to play along, and Rhonda is even giving a prize as incentive if you play with a Squigglefly image - go check out her blog for the details.

Anyway, here is my birthday card

I used the Happy Birthday Sign Cake image by Gemma Mortlock.   Does this cake not look YUMMY?  I swear I was ready to bake a cake after coloring this.  The sentiment is a stamp that I got from the dollar bin at Michaels.   I added glitter to the candle tops.  The only thing I wasn't happy with was that I chose to color the confetti dots in the background.  I didn't really like how it looked once I had done it.

Well, I wish you a great day and thanks for looking!

Andy Warhol's Dog

Hi everyone!  Hope your weekend is going well.  Mine has been fun.  My oldest daughter and her husband  came to town yesterday, and my younger daughter and her husband came over to visit while they were here.  It was nice having the whole family together for a day.

Today will be spent in the kitchen getting my weekly meal preparation done and then we are taking Riley out to the woods for some fun.  Not much crafting time weekend, but it is worth it!

I did need a birthday card for a friend and her birthday is coming up on me fast so it needed to be a quick card! She is a real dog lover, and when I saw the grinning dogs that were released at Squigglefly yesterday I knew just what I wanted to do!

I printed the Grinning Retreiver  in different colors aka Andy Warhol style and layered a piece of vellum on top and then stamped the word "smile" ( a Stampin' Up! stamp) on top.  Inside it says "Yeah, you may be older but grin and bear it!  Happy Birthday!"   I love the grinning dogs!  There are a pug and a pomeranian to go along with this retreiver.

If you don't know  how to change a digital image from black to another color, you can see how easy it is by watching THIS VIDEO.

Thanks for stopping by ya'll, and have a great Sunday!

A Birthday Fit For A Princess

Happy Friday to you all! It's a rainy Friday here, but I will take the rain over sunshine any day! I have sent out a lot of birthday cards the last few days so I need to start stocking my cards up again. This card is going to a very special little lady! My boss's youngest girl Tara whom you've all heard me talk about will be turning six years old on the 20th and I thought she would like this Birthday Girl by Gemma Mortlock.

Don't you love her freckles!?  Tara is into princesses and I thought this girl's party dress and hat looked princess like. I also think that when the party dress comes off this girl is a bit of a tomboy just like Tara!  Did I tell you that last week she rode a motorcycle by herself?!  I swear this kid will try anything!  She did a good job too - I would have ended up in a ditch for sure!   She's colored with Copic markers and I added a little charm that says "laugh" because Tara does make me laugh!

The sentiment is one of my all time favorite birthday sentiments from Jess Holland.  I use this all the time - no kidding!  It's just one of those sentiments that looks great.  It doesn't matter if the card is elegant and feminine or cute and sassy or classic and stately!

Tomorrow Squigglefly will be having another release of new images, and this week they are introducing a new artist.  I know you will adore Daphne Van der Zanden's artwork as much as I do.  She has a great imagination and such sweetness in her drawings - I can't wait for you to see!

There's still a couple more days to play along in Squigglefly's Seeing Red challenge!  Go make a valentine card, or blow off some steam by making a RED card!

Bird Day Party

Hi everyone! I have a birthday card to share with you today that was done for the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoast Stampers. The card I chose can be seen HERE and here is the card I made

The image is a partial part of the Birdie Birthday Party from Cheryl Alger. I colored with Copic markers and used chalk on the sky and ground.  The papers are all digital and I printed the sentiment out with my computer.
I tell you, we went from Fall to Spring!  It's been about 70 degrees the past couple of days and what's driving me REALLY crazy is that the mosquitoes are out in full force!  I want some winter!
Tomorrow's Friday!  Yay!

Hump Day, Heart Day

Happy Hump Day! Hope you are having an awesome week! Today is the first of February so valentine cards are everywhere! I've got a clean and simple card today featuring a wonderful new image from Lynne Stansbery called From Hands To Heart

I printed the sentiment at the same time as the image and colored with copic markers. The shading on the image makes anyone feel like an artist when coloring because it tells you where to use darker tones. The heart border punch is from Fiskars and I punched two little hearts out in the corners too.

There's still time to play in Squigglefly's challenge and I hope you will!
