Birthday Donuts and a crafting video!

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great week so far. Mine is going pretty good and if we get the rain they're calling for tonight and tomorrow it'll be going even better! One of my friends had a birthday on Saturday and this is the card I made for her

I used some puff paint on the donuts, but I didn't puff it up. After it was dried I added some crystal lacquer to make them look more realistic. The "sprinkles" are just different beads. This image is one by Lynne Stansbery called Donuts and it comes with the sentiment.

I have a video to share with you today! This is a fun little toy to make for kids. I made one for my boss's kids and they've been having a blast with them. You can also just use one ball and have one person shoot the ball and the other person tries to catch it in their cup. I made it into a craft project by letting the kids decorate their cups. I just painted mine with some white acrylic paint and then let them use markers, stickers, and stick on jewels and glitter to decorate with. Riley offered to help me out with the video, so here it is

If you can't see the video on my blog, you can view it at Youtube HERE.  Have fun, and thanks for looking!

Camping Tips

Hi everyone! Happy Birthday to my oldest and lovely daughter, Ashley today! Well it was a fun weekend, but it's time to get back to the normal work routine today! We're seeing lots of fun entries in Squigglefly's blog challenge, and the design team has made some fantastic samples. take a little time to go see for yourself! I've got a fun little camping card today. It uses the new Camping Tents image by Gemma Mortlock. If you're a camper you may find this useful information!

I used Copic markers to color the image and chalked the sky.  There is a little bit of yellow stickles on the campfire and the sentiment is computer generated.  I sponged some rust ink around the edges of the card.  Here's a look at the inside of the card.

Enjoy your day!

Perfect Moments

Happy Memorial Day everyone! I love having the day off! Later this afternoon my best friend from high school is coming over with her 5 year old granddaughter and we are going to play in my craft room. Should be a fun time!

Yesterday I played along in both the Outlawz Clean and Simple challenge and Splitcoast Stamper's Featured Stamper Challenge with today's card. The Clean and Simple challenge is to make a clean and simple challenge with something or for someone you love. The card I chose to CASE for the Featured Stamper challenge is THIS ONE.

My image is from Squigglefly and is called Pears. It's drawn by Angie Davis. I love the simple image! I laid down a base color of green and then applied some verdigris embossing powder over them. The powder gives it a bit of green and gold - sort of like a patina on old copper.  I love how they turned out - both the color and texture! The sentiment is also from Squigglefly and is by Fawn Palmer. It's one of the sentiments included in her Easter Footsies set.  It just happens to also fit today's new challenge on the Squigglefly blog - clean and simple with no designer paper!

I hope you're finding time in your weekend to craft something!

Special Tulips

Hi everyone! Happy birthday to my talented and beautiful daughter, Chesney today! I am so glad the weekend is here! I took a couple of games to work yesterday and played dominoes and Candyland, and at the end of the day we set the dominoes up in a pattern and then made them fall. It was fun, but it does wear an adult out! Today's card was made for the featured stamper challenge on Splitcoast Stampers last Sunday. The card I picked was THIS ONE.

I used the Tulip Display image drawn by Lynne Stansbery. They were colored with colored pencils.  The sentiment is also from Squigglefly and is one by Jess Holland called Especially For You.   I used lots of pearls which I think make this a really dressy card.   The decorative cutting at the top and bottom of the image panel was done with some corner scissors I have, but I made a mistake and put the top part in with the scissors backwards!  I ended up keeping it anyway and thought I'd just let people think I intended that, but those of you who read my blog know the truth!  LOL!

I hope you have a great weekend!

Anything Goes At The Outlawz

Hi everyone! Today is my last day as guest designer at the Outlawz Copic/Promarker challenge. It's been great fun and I feel honored to have been asked. The challenge this week is Anything Goes! I love to do humorous cards so that's what I made.

I used The Old Sot image from Squigglefly. She's such a fun one to color and comes with several funny sentiments including the one I used here. She's colored with Copic markers and has a little bit of chalking around the background.  I added some glossy accents to her glasses.  Come play along with us!

Yesterday my boss's kids only went to school for half a day and it was the last day of school.  They were at my office most of the rest of the day.  I can see that I'm going to have to come up with some fun things to keep them occupied this summer!  One of the simplest things I did yesterday really seemed to be something they loved doing.  We would each draw something and then cover it up with a piece of paper letting only a portion of it show.  Everyone tries to guess what you drew.  Once everyone has had a guess you reveal a little more of the drawing until someone guesses or the whole picture is revealed.  I was surprised at how much they liked playing that.  I'd love suggestions for indoor games to play with them, so if you have any leave them in a comment!

I'm really glad the weekend is here and I'm extra glad that we have an extra day!  It's supposed to be really hot so I'll be spending most of my time indoors in my craft room as much as possible!  Enjoy your day, and thanks for looking!

Wrinkled Wednesday

Hi everyone!  I hope you're in the mood for a little humor today because I've got a funny card to share with you!  I loved the Gramma Knitting image that Gemma Mortlock drew!

I used Copic markers to color and squiggled a line around it with a fine liner pen.  I added some pink to the designer paper to tie it in better with the colors in the image.  I used the same fine liner pen to draw the thread line in the teeny buttons.

The sentiment was computer generated and I also drew some squiggly lines around it.  Now here's the inside

I am sending this card to my best friend.  We were both just talking the other day about how we must be getting old because we were both complaining about different aches and pains we have!  I know I sure am glad that wrinkles don't hurt!  Then after making this card I saw this funny You Tube video of a spoof of Beyonce's All The single Ladies song, called All the Wrinkled Ladies. Enjoy!

If you have trouble seeing the video on my blog, you can see it on You Tube HERE.  Have a fabulous Wednesday, and thanks for looking!

Tuesday Teaparty

Good morning everyone!  I've missed the last couple of Mothermark's Teaparties, but this weekend I found time to play along.  When I got the cheater e mail that showed the teapot, I knew exactly what image I wanted to use.  Here's a picture of the teapot

Pretty, isn't it?  As you know the cards we teapotters make usually go to someone who is ill or suffering in some way, but this week is slightly different and I have to say I love the difference! Mary is a fellow teapotter who suffers with RA and lupus. She wound up in the hospital not long ago and had to have emergency hip replacement. The thing that bothered Mary the most was that it happened during her daughter's spring break and she had had so many fun things planned to do with her daughter, Rebekah that she ended up not being able to do. To top things off, Rebekah's 12th birthday was that same week and her birthday party had to be cancelled. Rebekah ended up spending the entire week at the hospital with her mom. When Mary told her daughter how sorry she was about the party and all the spring break plans being cancelled, Rebekah's reply was “Momma, you said we were going to spend time together this week. We ARE spending time together, it's all good!” Now I think that really shows a great maturity and she deserves lots of cards! Anyway, I told you I had the perfect image for this teapot and let's see if you agree

The name of the image is Three Little Kittens and it is drawn by Lynne Stansbery. I colored lots of the flowers blue to match the ones on the teapot and then made the daffodils yellow.  The sentiment is computer generated.  I really hope Rebekah likes the card.

Yesterday's Squigglefly blog challenge is a fun one, but it takes some thought.  I'm still doing my thinking, but you should really go take a look at what the design team has done.  They did some great work that's worth the look.

Have a great day, and thanks as always for looking!

Birthday Pampering

Hi everyone! I hope your weekend was great! Mine was really nice, but as always gone too quickly. We had a visit from our oldest daughter and her husband. Our younger daughter and her husband met us for lunch on Saturday and it was nice having the whole family together for a while. We got to meet the newest member of the family, Grip who is a four month old white labradoodle. He is so cute and surprisingly Riley got along with him pretty well!

Here's a card I made with Beautiful Bather, which is another image drawn by
Fawn Palmer. It comes with a set of two sentiments one of which I used here.  The inside says "Pamper yourself, you deserve it!"

I used Copic markers to color it. The rug I sort of dotted the color on to make it look more textured.  The soap bubbles are faux flower soft.

Today is a new challenge on the Squigglefly Blog!  Run by and take a quick look at what the design team has done, and why not play along?  Have a great Monday, and thanks for looking!

Oulawz Goes West

Good morning and happy Friday to you all! This week the Outlawz have a fun Western themed challenge! I used the Singing Cowboy image by Lynne Stansbery for the cover of my card. He's colored with Copic markers and there's a light blending of yellow chalk in the background. I made a little lasso with some twine as an embellishment.  The stitching on there is faux stitching and the papers are all digital ones from Stampin Up!

You might notice that there's no sentiment on the card. That's because the sentiment is on the inside

The sentiment is computer generated, but the image is one by Robin Willis called You're A Weiner. I cropped the sentiment out and stretched the dog out a little to make the point even funnier.  I hope you enjoyed the card, and I wish you all a really great weekend!  Thanks for looking!

shy girl

Hi everyone! This week really seemed like it was going by pretty fast until yesterday. Instead of going over the hump I kind of just slammed into it and it's slowed down considerably. Maybe it's just because I'm ready for the weekend. We got Riley out for a walk last night and commented that it was probably the last comfortable one we'd have for a while. The weather forecast looks like 90's for as far as the forecast goes. When we got home I found a tick on me! Yep, it's summer alright.

I am both excited and embarrassed to show you my card today. On the one hand I really love how it looks, but on the other hand I got a little messy with the glue and really should re-do it before showing it. But time isn't allowing me to re-do it before posting it ( I will re-do it before sending it to someone), so just forgive the glue that got away from me spots and focus instead on the incredible background.

The image is one from Fawn Palmer called Shy Miss. I think it's such a sweet image. One thing I love about Fawn's artwork is the variety of images she draws - they're not all the same subject. Plus Fawn goes the extra mile and tries to have sentiments with her images. Anyway, I colored the image with Copic markers and then used a corner punch to notch the corners.  I used some yellow embroidery floss to thread through the notches.

The background was done with a Fiskars border punch.  I cut the parts that kept it attached to the main paper and then staggered rows of it across the card.  It's really cool and has so much texture - I love it!  But don't look too closely at the dried glue!  Next time I will be a lot more careful with the glue.  I think it will be fun to play with different border punches this way!  Get out your border punches and try to use them in another way!

Have a fabulous day, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Shyly Thinking Of You

Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing great so far this week! My life isn't too exciting these days so I'll just get right to my card

I went back to an older Shy Bear image. This one is called Snail Mail Bear, and he's one of my favorites. This was colored with Copic markers.  I did chalk the sky, but it looks washed out in the photo.  The border is from Martha Stewart and I used a photo corner punch in one corner.  The sentiment is from an older Stampin Up! set.  The three circles on the side are rain dots, and they are purple although they look black in the picture.

There's still time to play in Squigglefly's blog challenge if you're up for one.  This week is to make something with a sentiment or verse as the main focus.  I'm still thinking up what I want to do, but I am planning on playing!

My blogaversary is coming up next month and I'm planning a good giveaway to celebrate.  Tell your friends because if I've reached 500 followers by then the giveaway will be even better!

Hoppy Birthday

Hi everyone! Yesterday Riley killed two snakes in our yard! Brock said he thought they were small copperheads. All we need now is for Riley to get bit by a snake again!

Sunday was one year since I found out that the company I worked for was closing it's doors. I've been through two terrible jobs and am still working at the job I'm currently employed.  It's amazing how God answers our prayers.  I know that I am at the place I am meant to be, and I am happy there.

Speaking of things in the yard, this little Gone Buggy image by Sandy Sommerfeld is perfect for a summer time birthday card.

My boss's son has a birthday coming up soon and I thought this was a great image for a boy's birthday. I colored it with Copic markers and chalked the ground and sky.  A little bit of stickles on the fly's trail - not too much glitter for a boy!  LOL!

There's not too much going on to chat about (and hopefully Riley will stay out of trouble so there won't be much to blog about!), so I'll let you get back to your blog surfing!  Have a great day!

Orchids for Mother's Day

Hi everyone! I know Mother's Day was yesterday, but I made this card for my best friend's mother yesterday. She called and invited me to come out to lunch with her, my friend, and my friend's daughter and her two children. I thought it was so nice of her to include me in their day and I wanted to make her a special card.

I chose the Orchids image from Squiggley. Itis one of my favorite images by
Deena Perreault.

I colored the image with colored pencils and then chalked some yellow around it. After cutting it with an oval die, I sponged some brown ink around the edges and then poured on about three layers of Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel and then cracked it. I made this into a center step card, which I think makes the card even more special. The sentiment at the bottom is computer generated. Here's a peek at the inside.
Squigglefly has a brand new challenge on the blog today! Rhonda's Rowdy Rascal's are up today, so go take a peek at their creations and get your creative juices flowing! Happy Monday!

garden party

Good morning everyone! I hope you are enjoying your weekend, and happy Mother's Day to all of you who are lucky enough to be called Mom! Our weather this weekend has been fabulous and I'm trying to enjoy every second of it because next week it looks like it heats back up!

I'm happy to report that Riley is doing well and has not re-injured her leg! She still favors it a bit, but she's not jumping at squirrels or going crazy after thrown balls anymore. Maybe she's learned that she's not infallible!

I wanted to let you all know that the winner of the One A Day In May goody box did not claim her prize, so we have drawn a new winner. Audrey Lewis Ernst is the new winner! Audrey, please contact me at to claim your prize. If I do not hear from Audrey by May 26th, I will once again draw a new winner!

Today I have a card that uses one of my favorite image by Diana Garrison called Garden Party.

The image is colored with Copic markers.  I added a little bit of glitter to the butterfly's trail.   It was cut with an oval die and then I used the same sized scalloped oval die to cut the yellow.  I just let the top part of the scalloped oval show because it reminded me of the sun coming up over the garden.

The sentiment is one from Lynne Stansbery called Bloom With Happieness.    I added a fun flower button and tied it with some ribbon.

Thanks for looking, and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Outlawz Challenge

Hi everyone and yay for Friday! We had a cool front move in a couple of days ago and the weather has been so beautiful! I wouldn't hate summer so much if our weather could stay like this. The whole weekend looks to be great weather wise too.

As you know I'm the guest designer at Outlawz Copic/Promarker challenge for the whole month of May, and this week's challenge has the theme of Gardening. I went to one of my all time favorite Squigglefly images Gardener by Chesney Young for this challenge!  (I've used this image for several cards.  You can see one HERE and there are two HERE.)

Isn't this a fabulous image? So funny and so fun to color too! I used Copic markers for the image and chalk on the sky and grass.  I stamped grass sprigs over the chalk.  See the texture pattern on the jeans?  I did that by soaking a piece of an old pair of blue jeans with Copic blending solution and then pressed it over the colored jeans.  This is a fun and cool way to get a pattern on your colored project!

The sentiment was computer generated.  I was torn between this one and "Old gardeners never die, they just slowly spade away"!  LOL!   I hope you will come over to the Outlawz and join in our challenge too!

lovely mermaid

Happy hump day everyone! Poor Riley was feeling so much better yesterday after getting her stitches and drain out that she wanted to play ball as soon as we got home from the vet's office. My husband threw the ball and she ran after it, but that one leg is still giving her trouble and she took a roll and is really limping badly now. We've decided she is just going to have to be less active for a while longer.

Today's card is one I made just for fun. I used the new A Lovely Mermaid by Alecia Blake.

I colored her with Copic markers and chalked the background. After that I brushed some Opal Radiant Pearls over her tail to add some shimmer.  The radiant pearls are no longer manufactured, but the were made by the same company that makes twinkling h2os.  I still have a lot of the little tubs I bought years ago and pull them out occasionally.  This mermaid's tail was just the occasion!  Here's a close up of the shimmer.

I made little bubbles coming from the fish's mouth with some glossy accents lacquer and computer generated the sentiment. The green swirly piece on the side is some sticky backed vellum from KC and Company. I see now that one of the little punched out pieces stuck to the card in the lower left corner of the image - I will have to pull that off! It's funny how you don't notice things like that when you're taking the picture!

Hope you all have a wonderful day, and thanks for looking!

Stickle Me A Squigglefly Challenge

Hi everyone! I'm so happy to tell you that Riley got her stitches and the drain removed yesterday!  She is so happy to have that gone.  The vet said that she still has some weakness in her hind legs so we have to keep her on the pain medication for a while longer.  Now if she can just stay out of trouble for a while!

I've got a card I made for this week's Squigglelfy challenge which is to use stickles or some other kind of glitter glue on your project! It's so easy to add a touch of glitter to your projects, so why not make a card and join in?

My card uses the ever so cute Fairy Ring by Daphne van der Zanden. I love that the fairy has a sort of mischievous grin on her face - sort of like she's doing something a little naughty but having so much fun doing it that she doesn't care! So, with that thought in mind I cut the middle of the ring out and made it into a crystal ball that she's taken out for a joy ride!

I made the crystal ball by making it a gel card that I filled with bits of sparkling glitter, stars, and hearts.  I colored the image with Copic markers and chalked around the outside a bit.  Her wings have stickles.  I know a little girl that will have a lot of fun squishing the glitter gel around!

Wishing you a great day and thanks for looking!

How Many Craft Projects Do You Have Going On?

Good morning everyone. The winner of the One A Day Goody box was announced on Squigglefly's blog over the weekend.  If you order the One A Day In May be sure to go see THIS post to see if you won!

Did you have a nice weekend? Mine was rather lazy. It's so dang hot here that it just zaps your energy to do much at all. The vet said Friday that Riley couldn't get her stitches or drain out yet, so today she goes back today  see if it's ready now. I know she'll be glad to get it done and so will we! At least she's feeling better.

I think as crafters we can all relate to today's card

This is Crafty Savvy by Fawn Palmer and it's available at Squigglefly. This sentiment as well as two more come with her.

I colored her with Copic markers, and do you notice the markers on her desk? They're Copics too! I love that she's sitting in front of her computer - probably visiting Squigglefly or Pinterest for inspiration! LOL!

A new challenge begins at Squigglefly's blog today.  Go get inspired and join in the fun!

Beloved Women

Hi everyone and happy Friday! I'm excited today because it's my first time as guest designer for the month of May at the Outlawz Copic/Promarker challenge! The theme of this week's challenge is Mother's Day/Loved Women. We all have women in our lives who are not our mothers whom we love very deeply. Women friends who support us when we're low and in crisis, or lending a hand by helping to raise your children and fix dinners, being there when you need an ear to listen to you or a shoulder to cry on, and cheer us on as we pursue our dreams. I count myself as lucky to have more than one female friend like this! This card is for one of them.

I used today's new One A Day in May image called Mr. Wool With Daisy, drawn by the talented Sandy Sommerfeld. Isn't he just so cute? It almost makes me want to go get a pet sheep! (just kidding!  I've got my hands full with Miss Riley!)   Sandy is having a special blog hop this weekend to celebrate her blogaversary which is today! Be sure to swing by her blog, Scribbles By Sandy this weekend to join in the hop and leave a comment to win a prize!

Anyway, here is my card

I colored Mr. Wool with Copic markers and chalked the ground and sky. The grass sprigs are stamped over the chalk.  I used some of the neutral gray colors for the sheep and then used my colorless blender to add a little texture to the fur.  I hope you can see that in the photo!

I dressed the card up with some fun flower buttons and a ribbon.  The base of the card is embossed as well as a piece of the designer paper.  All the corners are rounded.  My sentiment is computer generated.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog - have a great Friday!

Bird Love

Hi everyone! Riley seems to be feeling a little better each day. Last night her tail was up again and that's always a good sign. Her tail and her ears are barometers on how she's feeling. She goes back to the vet tomorrow to get the drain and stitches out. I'm sure that will make her feel much better!

I got my PT back last night - after paying them $782.00!  Ouch!

Here's a card I made over the weekend. The image is one by Cheryl Alger available at Squigglefly called Sassy Sally Loves Birds

I colored the image with copic markers and used chalk on the sky and grass.  The sky is washed out in the photo, but it's blue trust me!  I stamped some grass over the chalk.  I tied a little heart shaped button on to the black ribbon on the side.

You've still got time to play in Squigglefly's challenge - just make a pink and blue card!
Did you see today's One A Day image?  It's a really pretty one from Alecia Blake called
A Lovely Mermaid.  All of the One A Day images are added to the store as they are released, so you can still get them even if you didn't order the One A Day.
Gotta run!  Have a great day!

Just BEE Sweet

Hi everyone. Thanks for the well wishes for Riley. Poor girl is pretty sore, but she's doing lots better than I would be doing if it were me! She's got stitches and a drain in the wound, but it hasn't slowed her down much. She's pretty slow moving and stiff when she's first waking up, but after a bit she's pretty much her old self.Of course, the pain pills probably help with that!   I am thinking her right eye looks a little swollen though.   Here's a picture I snapped of her last night.  You can tell she's not 100% because her tail isn't hooked up.  I just feel extra bad because I know she was thinking she was protecting us from those dogs.

My little PT Cruiser is back in the shop so I'm driving Brock's giant truck to work again. Some kind of malfunction light came on in my car so we took it to a little garage and the guy told us it was a leak of some kind, but the diagnostic code came back as being such a tiny leak that he'd have to have a smoke machine to find it and he doesn't have one. So now we've got the car at the dealership. I hope it's not an expensive repair, and I hope to get the car back soon. This is the first repairs we've had to do to this car though and it's five years old so I really can't complain. Driving Brock's truck makes me nervous though!

Well let's get to the card I have to share today! I used the cute Little Bee by Monica Estill.
I think this little bee looks so sweet and shy.

I used copic markers to color and added some glitter to the wings.  Then I cut the wings apart and used some pop dots to separate them so they looked more dimensional.  I am probably going to hand write a sentiment on the lower circle.

Did you see today's One A Day image?  I love it!  I haven't had time to make a card with it yet, but I love the image!  For those of you who didn't order the One a Day images, each image is added to the store as it's released, so go take a look at the Fairy Ring image drawn by Daphne Van der Zanden!

Talk to you all tomorrow - have a great day!

Is Your Guy A Leg Man?

Happy May first! Did April fly by or what? If you ordered the One A Day In May then you woke up to a brand new digi in your mailbox this morning! Today's image is a really cute Mewshu Pork drawn by Chesney Young. I made a quick clean and simple card with it right away!

Then I had to have a little fun and add something else.

I gave him a little fu manchu mustache!  LOL!
The card I do have made already is one that I had a lot of fun with. Fawn Palmer's Rubenesque Mermaid was not only fun to color, but I had a lot of fun creating scale texture and shimmer on the tail.

I colored the image with Copic markers except for the tail. The tail was painted with different colors of Twinking H2O's. The shimmer on these paints can't be beat! Then I used the edge of my scissors to drawn scales on and then painted over the lines with more Twinkling H2O's.

I came up with this silly sentiment and printed it directly onto the designer paper.  Tiny colored seashells are stuck on the ribbon's knot.

I received an e mail over the weekend asking me if I'd like to be May's guest designer at the Copic/Promarker challenge at the Outlawz!  Of course I said yes - what an honor it is to be asked!

Yesterday I had to take Riley to the vet because she got into a fight with two other dogs on Sunday night.  She was in her yard and two dogs came into our yard.  We know one of the dogs, and he and Riley have gotten along fine in the past, but he had a new buddy with him.  I don't know what happened exactly, but Riley ended up with a really deep hole in one of her legs and was dragging her other leg for about an hour.  She was finally able to walk without dragging her leg, but she was holding it oddly when she walked.

Anyway, the vet's office kept her all day.  Sedated her for surgery and cleaned the wound out.  They said the hole was really deep.  They sutured it and put in a drain.  As for her other leg, they said it appeared to be fine, but her whole rear end is sore and bruised.  We go back on Friday to take the stitches and drain out.  It's just one more item in a long list of close calls with this dog!

Enjoy your day, and thanks for looking!
