I'm cheap!

Hi everyone! Are you staying cool through the weekend? I wanted to show you what I got in the mail the other day

Isn't it cool? It's a magnetic Squigglefly sign for my car! I was contacted not long ago by this company offering me a free sign to try out their product and I'm really happy I took them up on it! I went to Magnets On The Cheap and asked my daughter Chesney to design a Squigglefly sign for me. It's such an easy site to use! They have all different kinds of fonts you can use and a wide variety of some great clip art, or you can design your own on your computer and then upload it.

There is a little preview window so you can see exactly how your sign will look. The prices are super reasonable too. You can get two small 9" x 12" signs for less than twenty bucks! They have medium and large sizes too. Anyway, I'm super thrilled with how they turned out.

Now I can advertise Squigglefly everywhere I go! I thought some of you might want to know about it to advertise your etsy shops or even your blog!

They have a sister site Signs On The Cheap where you can get yard signs too. They would be great for yard sales or for sale signs that would last year after year.

I Scream!

I was doing some screaming yesterday and I'll probably be doing it again today! Yesterday this deplorable heat decided we haven't had it quite hot enough so it spike to 107! The forecast is for more of the same today through the weekend. So scream number one is just because it's so dang hot! This kind of heat makes me cranky and I think it makes customers with no air conditioning cranky too!

Scream number two came when the air conditioning in my office quit working! And you know how the cobbler's children have no shoes? Well, my boss was busy getting paying customer's air conditioning fixed so my air had to wait. He did promise to work on it this evening though!

Scream number three came when I left work and discovered I had a flat tire! This was shortly followed by scream number four when I discovered that my husband had left the house and not bothered to take his cell phone! So what would soothe the frazzled nerves of one who has experienced a day like this?

Ice Cream! Ice Cream can turn me from the monster I was to a happy and contented person again! This Ice Cream Monster is from Squigglefly and is drawn by Denise Clemmensen. She has more monsters too, and they are all so cute with their own personalities. I colored this with copic markers.  It's pretty simple to see what I did to make the card.  The orange dots are rain dots and the words are computer generated.  Inside finishes off the childhood rhyme "Let's all scream for ice cream!"

Luckily there was a co-worker leaving work at the same time as me and he very graciously took off my flat and put on a spare for me.  The spare was kind of iffy, so I drove home keeping my eyes peeled for a tire place that was open.  I found one and he was able to plug my tire and replace it for me!  All's well that ends well, and ice cream never hurts!

Happy Fourth

Hi everyone! Have any of you watched the new Craft Wars on TLC? I watched the first episode yesterday and found it fun to watch. I would not have done well in the duffle bag challenge, but I would have rocked the play house challenge. I loved the play houses the two ladies made too. They both had some really cute ideas. I will probably watch more episodes.

The Outlawz are having a big party celebrating 2000 members and the greeting Card challenge during the party is to make a card that shows your country. I thought Diana Garrison's
Proud set was the perfect set to use to show the USA!

This was a really fast card to make. I colored it with Copic markers and then added blue glitter to the stars and some stickles on the fireworks burst. The star paper in the background is some digital paper I found, but I can't remember where I found it. Anyway, if you're looking to make some quick, last minute cards for the 4th of July, the Proud set is the perfect set to get. There are three different images in it and each of them are easy to color.

I have been so swamped at work that I've not had any time to get by and comment on all the blogs I love to visit.  I work for a heat and air company, and with this heat we've been experiencing you can just imagine how the phone rings all day!  Hopefully I'll get some time to catch up on them soon.

Still time to play in Squigglefly's blog challenge, and last I looked there still wasn't anyone eligible for the prize, so go play!

That Stinks!

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a good week! Just wanted to give you a reminder about the challenge going on at Squigglefly's blog. It's a super easy one this week - just use a pink button or bow!   We had lots of entries last week, but no winner because no one used a Squigglefly image!  there are lots of freebies in their store to try - and several of them would look great with a pink button or bow!   I'm working on my card after work today and if I finish it I'll post it here tomorrow.  Today I have a fun birthday card to share.

I used It Stinks by Sandy Summerfeld. I love this funny image! I think it would make a cute get well card too. It's colored with Copic markers and I chalked a little around the image.  The sentiment is computer generated.

On the home front, my husband went and bought a new TV.  It's absolutely humongous!  I don't know what it is about him and big television sets, but he loves them.  Personally, I think it's way too big for our living room, but I'll learn to live with it!    I swear if he gets one any bigger we'll have to install parking and drive up speakers!  LOL!  Hope you have a great day, and thanks for looking!

Hi everyone! Was I complaining about the heat yesterday? Well the good Lord gave me something to really complain about because it got even hotter! Our high yesterday was 105 and the next two weeks look just awful. Wouldn't a vacation to a cooler place be nice about now? Well all the teapotters are going on a cruise! At least that's the theme of this week's teaparty. Wasn't that a nice little segue to today's card?  I thought one thing people do when they go on cruises is to go snorkeling and see all the sea life, so here's my card!

I loved Diana Garrison's newest image Tropical Vacation, and it fit so nicely with the teaparty theme that I had to use it! I colored everything with Copic markers and chalk.  I added yellow stickles to the center of the flowers and plain glitter to the sun.

I was going to make some little bubbles for the fish and a big blog fell out right on the fish's snout!  It wasn't where I wanted it, but it wasn't worth doing the whole card over!  It just kind of looks like he's blowing a bubble!  That particular fish is cut out and popped up for a little extra dimension.  I left the image large to take up the whole card.  I matted it with some forest green, but it kind of looks black in the photo.  It's a gorgeous image though, and so fun to color!

Happy Cupcake Day

Hi everyone! Man are we ever in the middle of a heat wave - it was triple digits Saturday and Sunday! If extreme heat isn't a good reason to stay inside and make cards then I don't know what is! My mojo was in full swing yesterday and I got a lot of cards made to share with you this week!

Before I show you my card however, let me show you a card Tara my boss's six year old daughter made for me.

She used the Hearts As Big As A Whale image by Louise Gardner. She colored this at work on Friday while I was busy working. She asked me when my birthday was and I told her it was in July so she made me an early birthday card! Here's the inside.

Isn't that sweet?

Now my card was made for the Featured Stamper challenge they had yesterday at Splitcoast Stampers. I chose to CASE THIS CARD. I really liked the big cupcake and the simple layout. Since the big cupcake was one of the things I liked about the card, I thought the Sassy Sally's Big Cupcake image by Cheryl Alger was the perfect image to use!

I colored this with Copic markers and chalked around the background. The sentiment is from the Birthday Set by Michelle Bertuzzi.  I just now noticed that I didn't color her shoes!  I will have to correct that before sending this off to someone!

Today is a brand new challenge on the Squigglefly Blog, so save some time to go see what the Rascals have been up to!  Try to stay cool today and thanks for looking!

Sketchy Flowers

Well Friday has finally arrived! I don't have anything planned for the weekend and that's a good thing! I look forward to no deadlines or places I have to be. Today's card is one I made with Sandy Somerfeld's Whimsy Sunflower

I decided to make purple sunflowers and brightened it up with yellow stickles.  I added a purple border on the side.  Have a fabulous day!

More Summer Fun

Hi everyone! I hope your week is going by faster than mine is. I thought all day yesterday it was today, so I'm really disappointed to find out it's NOT Friday today! I won't say a word about how hot it is, and you won't hear a peep about how bad the mosquitoes are once the ghastly sun dips below the horizon, but I will tell you that I'm not a happy camper with the forecast! So, in an effort to cool off I made a card with a swimming pool!

This image, Spring Pool Party is from one of Squigglefly's newest artists, Mike Eustis. I fell in love with Mike's sweet sketches. I know there is a story behind this little chick and bunny rabbit, because they keep popping up in other drawings! (see HERE). I colored this with copic markers and chalk. I added crystal lacquer to the water.

I used a scalloped circle die to cut the yellow card stock, but I gave the cardstock a twist and ran it through my machine again to get more a pinking shear look to it.  Then I added some yellow stickles and a button.  I thought it kind of looked like the sun (the evil, hot, non-forgiving, scorching you to death sun!)   I stamped some grass and computer generated the sentiment.  Now before all you grammar police get after me, I know that funner is not a word although my spell checker did not notify me of a spelling error when I typed it!  I just thought that it fit in with the card better spelling it this way.

I used some blue liquid pearls on either side of the sentiment and wrapped some twisted yarn around the card.  I hope you like it!  Have a great day and stay cool if you can!

Summer Fun With The Queen

Hi everyone and happy hump day! I am trying so hard to not talk about how hot it is here, but it's really hard not to complain about it, and we need rain so badly! Oh for a rainy day!

Well, if you can't have rain getting in a pool or lake is a great way to cool off!

This little Tubin' Shy Bear is by Lynne Stansbery and I made him for the Queen For A Day challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. Cathy made an adorable card with a little bear in an inner tube that you can see here, so I chose that card to CASE.

My image is colored with Copic markers and I chalked the sky and added stickles to the water. Since the inner tube had stars on it I went with a fourth of July theme and made the card red, white, and blue.  I added some star brads and embossed the background with stars.

I wish you a great day!  Thanks for looking!

Merry Crittermas

Hi everyone! I know the title of my post probably has you thoroughly confused, so you know it probably has something to do with one of Mothermark's Tuesday Teapartys! This particular teaparty is for a fellow teapotter who is big into making Christmas cards all year long in Splitcoast Stampers Christmas Card Challenge. Unfortunately she injured her arm and she's been a little down because she's not going to get her own Christmas cards made. We thought it would be great to make Christmas cards for her so she'll have plenty when Christmas gets here. The twist is that the cards must have some kind of critter on them - thus my "Merry Crittermas" in the title! Now that you are no longer confused, let me share my card

I used the oh so adorable Mouseltoe by Diane Carubia and colored it with Copic markers. I added some liquid applique to the trim on their clothing.  I paired it with a beautiful Christmas sentiment from Jess Holland that I printed out in red.

If you are thinking the holes in my scallops look a little odd, that's because I hand punched them with a 1/4" hole puncher.  I didn't have a die that had a scalloped circle with holes like I wanted, so I made my own!  The challenge on Squigglefly's blog this week is to jazz up your borders, so I thought jazzing up a regular scalloped circle punch with some holes would qualify!

The papers are all digital.  You may notice a little bit of red on the cat's face - well let me help you learn from my mistake!  I was coloring the cat and as the paper got wet it picked up some red copic marker that was scribbled on the paper beneath it!  I tired my best to get rid of it and re-color the cat, but red is the hardest of all colors to erase completely.

I have to admit it was fun making a Christmas card on such a hot weekend!  I even found myself humming Christmas Carols!

Have a fun day, and thanks for looking.

Orchids In Pencil

Hi everyone, happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was good. I got a lot of things done on Saturday so that I could spend Sunday making cards. Of course as usually happens when I have the whole day to make cards, I have a hard time getting my mojo moving! I did go to Splitcoast Stampers and take a peek at the Featured Stamper challenge.

I found the card I wanted to CASE on the first page of hr gallery. You can see it HERE. I chose to use the lovely and delicate Orchids image by Deena Perreault. The sentiment is one from Jess Holland that can be found HERE. I just printed the image and sentiment at the same time and then colored the orchids with colored pencils. I really loved the scored lines on the card she did, so I copied that.

There's a new challenge on Squigglefly's blog today  - be sure to take a look.  I hope the design team's creations inspire you to play along!  Have a great Monday!

It's not a cat in the hat

Hi everyone!  Today is a special day - it's my four year blogaversary!  I plan on having a giveaway to celebrate soon, so be sure to watch for that!  I'm extremely happy to report that the vet did not find anything wrong with Riley's leg.  She just needs to rest it for a while and we have to keep her on the anti-inflammatories, but there are no tears or anything else.  That was great news!

I just have to share this sweet note my boss's youngest daughter left on my desk. She wrote it on a piece of adding machine tape.

She said she added the heart because she loved me so much it filled her whole heart. Isn't that just the sweetest thing?

Okay, so I have to vent here a little bit.  Brock had been on the phone talking to our insurance agent about renewing our homeowners and auto insurance and a couple of days later the bill arrives. I get home from work and he has the mail laid out on the counter just like always and I see a bill from the insurance company. He even mentioned the bill to me. I take the bill to work and the next day I write a check and send in the payment. I get home and put the insurance card in my car and give him his card to put in his truck. He then says to me "We aren't going with this insurance company. This one is getting thrown away." So I said "Why did you lay it on the counter with the mail like you wanted it paid?" So, I had to write myself a note to remember to get it out of the mailbox when I got to work the next day! I'm really glad that I didn't put it in the mailbox before the mailman came! I mean, why in the world did he keep the bill if it was trash?! ARRRGGGHHHH!

I also have a card to share today! This uses the really cute image by Louise Gardener called Hanging Cat Basket. I think this is such a darling image - sure to make anyone smile!

I colored this with Copic markers and chalked around the image some.  I added a little bit of glitter to the center of some of the flowers and to all of the flowers I added outside of the image.  The sentiment was computer generated.  The inside says "thinkin' of you".  The background is embossed with the swiss dots embossing folder.  I think I use that folder more than any other one, although I did tell someone the other day that I keep waiting for someone to make an embossing folder with paw prints!

Have a great day, and thanks for looking!

If it looks like a duck...

Hi everyone. Happy hump day!  I've got a cute baby card to share today. I used the cute Quack Me image by Sandy Sommerfeld and paired it with one of the sentiments in Jess Holland's set of baby sentiments Sweet Baby Text.

I colored the image with Copic markers and used some glossy accent on the water.  I tied a little pink ribbon around the duck's neck and added a yellow button on the sentiment.  A lacy border between the two designer papers finishes it off.

I have been feeling so sluggish and muscle sore the last couple of days. On Monday night I thought I was getting sick because I was so sore and had chills. Believe me, getting chilled in my house in the summer time is not something that happens too often! Brock likes to keep the thermostat up much higher than I do, but I was chilled on Monday night. I felt a little better yesterday, but still sore - my skin hurts! Anyway, I'm hoping it's nothing and that I'll be back to feeling normal soon.

We ended up taking Riley to the vet for her leg.  I wanted to be sure that she didn't dislocate her hip or knee (do dogs have knees?).  The vet wants us to being her back tomorrow so they can sedate her and do xrays.  She said there may be something going on with her hip or maybe a tear in the ACL which could cause problems later down the road.   I wish Riley could learn a lesson and settle down!

Have a great day, and thanks for looking!

Friendly Flowers

Hi everyone! I'm not going to keep you with any chit chat today. I'm just getting straight to my card!

I first started this out for the Featured Stamper challenge, but then it took on a life of it's own. The circle and the background paper image are Sweet Flowers Set by Ashley Summers and the little flower in the middle is Swirly Bloomer from Jane Beljo.

The circle says "friends are flowers that never fade" so I figured that was sentiment enough. I colored the flower with Copic markers and used a little chalk on the circle while it was still in the die. I added some clear liquid pearls and then colored them with a marker. The die is from Memory Box.

Hope you enjoy, and thanks for looking!

Something fishy

Good morning ya'll! I hope you had a nice weekend. Mine was busy and somewhat productive. I didn't get as much crafting time in as I would have enjoyed, but I did get enough cards made to be able to share one with you each day this week. I went shopping and out to lunch with my daughter Chesney on Saturday where she treated me to some things I picked out at our new, larger JoAnn's store. I went to my best friend's granddaughter's dance recital on Sunday. They were sooo cute!  Here's  picture of my friend's granddaughter in her costume.

All the girls in her dance wore the same wigs.  I think they would have looked cuter without them.  It was a long show, but we only stayed long enough to see her.

I got my usual weekly grocery shopping and meal prep in, and I'm sorry to say that Riley ran after a squirrel and has now injured her "good" leg! We've been giving her remadyl all weekend. She just needs to take it easy, but she doesn't know how!

Squigglefly had a fantastic release of new images this weekend! Seriously, you should just go browse - but plan to stay a while because there is so much to see! I used one of the newest images called Too Cool For School by Diana Garrison for my card today.

Since the challenge on Squigglefly's blog today is to make a shaped card, I thought a fish shaped card would be perfect! I colored it with some bright Copic markers and added glitter and liquid pearls. I also had to add a little eyelashed googly eye!

The Too Cool For School set comes with three different fun sentiments, but mine uses  a computer generated sentiment, but I didn't think of the sentiment until after I already had the card colored and cut out, so I had to print it on another piece of card stock, glue it in place and then cut around the fish again, so my cutting is a little messy!

Shaped cards are fun to make.  You can go with a circle or use a die for some other kind of shape.  It's fun to think outside the box a bit and see what you can come up with.  Why don't you play along in the challenge?  Be sure to go see what the design team has come up with!  In the mean time, have a "fin" tastic day and thanks for looking!

birthday fairy

Good morning ya'll! One day closer to Friday (and one day closer to Fall!), so it's got to be a good day, right? Yesterday morning as I was leaving the house I happened to see our cat running down a tiny baby bunny. I stopped the car and went after the cat to stop him. Riley was in the house watching out the door and believe me, she was rooting for the cat! I did stop the cat and the little bunny hopped right into hands! I almost brought him to work with me to see if my boss wanted to keep it as a pet, but I ended up setting him loose in the front yard and watched him hop away to freedom. My dog and cat were not happy with me, but felt pretty good about it. This morning though I found the remains of the bunny on the porch so I guess the cat found him again.   If I see any more bunnies and I manage to catch it, I think my boss will have a new pet!

On a much brighter subject, I have a cute birthday card to share with you today! I used two of the newest fairies at Squigglefly from artist Daphne van der Zanden;  Oh Dear Fairy and
Fairy Banner to create this cute inside out card.  Here's the front

I colored the fairy with Copic markers and used some glitter on the wings.  The sentiment was computer generated.  The little blue dots on the side are rain dots - I love using those things!

The inside of the card has another computer generated sentiment, and the Fairy Banner image where I hand lettered "Happy Birthday".  I just think these two images work great together, don't you?  Plus it's great to be able to add whatever you want to on the banner!

I hope you have a really great day today.  If you need a chuckle, go take a look at all the cards in Squigglefly's Make Me Laugh challenge!  There are some great ones there!

feeling bad?

Happy hump day! Thanks for the anniversary wishes yesterday. We went out to eat to celebrate and I enjoyed it very much! I have to tell you about the sweet gift my husband got me. I do think it's the sweetest thing he's ever gotten me. He got me a can of bug spray! LOL! I really did think it was sweet though, because I had been telling him how I see spiders at my office every day. He knows I hate spiders and I had to kill a particularly large one the other day with a broom. So, he brought home a can of bug spray for me to take to work. Isn't that sweet?

Happy Birthday to my sister and Squigglefly artist Lynne Stansbery today!

I've got a get well card that I made for Squigglefly's "Make Me Laugh" challenge to share with you today. I used the Moon Over My Lammie image that Sandy Sommerfeld drew. The name of the image is enough to make you laugh, isn't it?

I printed the image twice - once on vellum.  Then I embossed the vellum with a swirls embossing folder and glued it over the lamb image.  I thought this was a different way of added texture to the lamb's wool.  The corners were punched and then I threaded some purple floss through the notches.  I used the same floss on the small buttons.  The sentiment was computer generated.    I hope it's funny enough to make you laugh!

Have a great day, and thanks for looking!

blue sunflowers

Good morning everyone! Today my husband and I are celebrating 36 years of marriage! Sometimes it's hard to believe we have put up with each other that long! I can't imagine being with anyone else and feel very blessed to have him.

Yesterday we got a nice and much needed rain. This morning it is a nice 65 degrees. I so wish it could stay 65 all day long! The card I have today was made for the Queen For the Day Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. Becky had THIS CARD in her gallery that I loved.

I used the Whimsy Sunflower image by Sandy Sommerfeld and combined it with the Love and Laughter sentiment by Chesney Young.

Of course I colored them blue because that's what I liked most about Becky's card! A simple bit of piercing and the card was finished!  Have a great day, and thanks for looking!

Triple Threat!

Hey everyone! I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was pretty good. I am a little disappointed in the Merry Maid service I received. It's the first time I've used a maid service, but the Groupon deal was so good I thought I'd try it out. The deal was for four rooms. I chose my kitchen, dining room, living room, and main bathroom. She was here for one hour. Could you clean four rooms in one hour? She did an okay job, but I won't be scheduling a future visit.

I did get a few cards made this weekend. Yesterday was the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoast Stampers and I really loved the gallery we had to pick from. I ended up being so inspired I made three cards! The first card I CASED was THIS ONE. I chose the new Heart Blowing Ellie by Louise Gardner and paper pieced the elephant.  The sentiment is one from the Sweet Baby Text set by Jess Holland.  The background was embossed with the swiss dots folder and then sanded so the dots look white.

The second card I CASED was THIS ONE.   I loved how she had a baby elephant, so I opened the elephant up in my Photoshop program and erased the hearts.  Then it was just a matter of shrinking him down and placing him behind the bigger elephant before printing.   The sentiment is another one from Jess Holland called Welcome Little One.     Again, I paper pieced the elephants.  Isn't it cute?

The next card isn't a CASE, just one that I thought would be cute and the idea came to me while working with the elephant.

I paper pieced the elephant and printed the sentiment at the same time as the image.  The background is embossed with hearts and I dotted white dots around the ones that are indented   I hope you like them all!

Today is a brand new challenge on the Squigglefly blog!  Holley has challenged everyone to make her laugh.  Be sure to set a little time aside to go see what the design team has done.  I love funny cards, so I know I'll be playing along later this week!

Enjoy your Monday, and thanks for looking!

Beautiful Garden

Good morning and happy weekend! I'm so happy to finally have the images up in the store for you all to see! There is wonderful new artwork from your favorites as well as three new artists you will come to love. One of my most favorite of the new images is Dragonfly Garden by Diana Garrison. I couldn't wait to color this beautiful image!

Isn't it just a gorgeous image? I colored with copic markers and added a bit of shimmer to the dragonfly with twinkling h2o paint and a little bit of stickles on some of the flower buds. I wanted the image to stand on it's own so I didn't add anything - I just mounted it on some pretty paper and sponged the edges of the card with Tempting Turquoise ink.  I was going to make little black french knots for his eyes, but I couldn't find my black thread so I left it alone.  I want to color this image over and over but do them each in different  colors - one in shades of orange, one in shades of green, etc.  Wouldn't they make a lovely note card set?

I'm off to do my grocery shopping for the week and later I have Merry Maids coming to my house!  I treated myself to a great Groupon a month ago and only paid $55.00 to have them come clean four rooms in my home.  They will do the kitchen, dining room, living room, and main bathroom.  I'm excited - I've never had a maid service come before!  While they are cleaning I will be spending time in my craft room making more cards!

Have a fantastic weekend, and thanks for looking!

New Releases and New Artists!

Hi everyone! Yay for Friday and the weekend! This is a great weekend because now that the One A Day In May has ended, Squigglefly is back to the weekly new releases! Tomorrow you can be treated to a whole slew of wonderful new images! This week's release is special because we are welcoming THREE NEW ARTISTS!   Denise Clemensen, Kim Fleming, and Mike Eustis will all be making their debut tomorrow! I am sure you will love their artwork as much as I do.

I have a card today that uses one of the new images being released tomorrow.  This is one called Summer  Sweet Daisies and is by Lynne Stansbery.  I paired it with a sentiment by Jess Holland.  There are four different sentiments in this Dotted Circle Sentiment set

I colored this with Copic markers and matted it with two different colors of some paint sample chips I picked up at a recent trip to Wal Mart.  I stuck some designer paper down and then embossed the entire card with an embossing folder before attaching the image panel and the sentiment is popped up on foam dots.  If you click on the image you can see it a little bigger.

Here's another card I made with an image by Kim Fleming called From Little Things.  I am not too crazy with how my card turned out, but I really love the image.  It's so cool how she's spelled the sentiment out in the branches of the tree!

I used Copic markers to color the image and mounted it on some hand dyed tissue paper.  I think I should have printed this image out a little smaller and then have done a whole different type of layout - this one is just a little too plain looking for my tastes.  I thought the paper was so pretty that I didn't want to add more, but it's just not right.  I will be using this image again soon though!

I am really excited for you to see all the new images!  I am even more excited to start making more cards with them!  Have a great Friday, and thanks for looking!
