When Pigs Fly

I have a blog candy going on right now. If you are interested in seeing the giveaway and entering to win it, please see this post.

Hi everyone! How many times have you heard the phrase "when pigs fly?" Well did you ever stop to think that maybe the phrase originated because there are magical pig fairies out there? Me neither. But luckily for us Fawn Palmer did! And because she did we have this adorable Fairy Pig image newly released at Squigglefly!

Isn't this just the cutest little pink pig you've ever seen?  I colored with Copic markers and glittered the wings.  It was cut out and mounted directly onto the paper.  I added some lace that I also colored with copic markers and computer generated the sentiment.  Inside the card says "just don't open this card."

And the phrase "when pigs fly" is probably the answer to the question "when will this miserable heat wave and drought end?"!  It was 110 degrees yesterday!  Here's a screen shot of the weather forecast for our area the next few days.  Notice the current temperature was 107, and that was about 6:30 pm!

Hope you are staying cool wherever you are~!

Pretty Bird

Hi everyone. Friday is here at last! Here's the last of the cards I had made before my trip. Hopefully I'll have time to make cards this weekend. It's amazing how far behind you can get when you change up your routine for just a few days!

This card features the lovely Pretty Bird image by Diana Garrison.  I combined it with one of the sentiments from her Daisy Pops image.  It's colored with Copic markers.  Just some pretty digital paper and satin ribbon to finish it all off.

Sorry for keeping this short, but I have to run!  Have a great day!

nanny nanny boo boo

Hi everyone! I'm back from my trip and I want to thank all of you for the birthday wishes! I am so blessed to have so many loving people in my life. My trip out of town went really well. One of my sisters rode with me and she brought her dog, Emie. Emie had never been on a long car ride before so I wasn't sure how she was going to be, but she was perfect! she sat in the back seat on hr pillow and didn't try to jump in the front seat, she didn't want to stick her nose out the window, she didn't make a peep! She was the best traveling dog I think I've ever seen.

We did get turned around in a few little towns on the way up there, but we were able to get back on track and made it to our final destination. I joked with my sister that we would be terrible on the Amazing Race!

Once we were there it was a lot of fun talking, laughing, catching up, and reminiscing on old times. We are already talking about doing it again next year.

Today I do have a card for you even if it's one I made a couple of weeks ago! This is my very time at trying to color ethnic skin color. I used an image by Fawn Palmer called Neener Neener.

I used Copic markers to color the image and chalked the background with some yellow chalk.  The sentiment comes with the image.  There is another sentiment besides this one as well!   I doodled the border around the image and added some liquid pearls in clear around the image and in the flowers of the border on the side of the card.

I think it's such a cute image!  I'm using it to send to someone to poke a little fun that they are older than me on their birthday.  I have one more card that I made last week to share later this week and then I will share the blog candy I've talked about.  Then I need to get busy making cards again!

Have a really great day, and thanks for looking!

Awesome People

Hi all! Happy Friday!  I am travelling out of town today to visit with four of my sisters at one of my sister's house.  It will be nice to see them all, and it's been a while since so many of us were together.  I won't be back until Sunday night, so there will not be many cards to see from me next week because I do all of my crafting on the weekends.

However, I did have that blogaversary in June and Sunday is my birthday, so I'm celebrating both with a big giveaway.  I will post pictures of the prize and what to do to win when I get back.

Now for today's card I used this adorable image, Totally Pawsome by Fawn Palmer,  It comes with this cute sentiment.  Fawn has such a great variety of image and always tires to make it easier and a better value for you by providing sentiments with her images.

I think it would be a great card congratulating someone for something, but I made it into a birthday card for someone who has done a lot for  Squigglefly; Heather Strenzwilk is the face behind Squigglefly's Facebook page.  Her birthday is next week so stop by facebook and wish her a happy birthday!

I colored this with Copic markers and chalked the background and floor.  The papers, ribbon, and cute little dog shaped bone were gifts from Squigglefly design team leader Rhonda Zmikly and they were perfect to us with this image.  If you look closely you will see little dog bones printed on the ribbon.  Thanks Rhonda - I love the papers and fun pet items you sent me!

There is still time to play in Squigglefly's blog challenge, so if you're looking for something to do come play along with us!  I hope you have a great weekend.  See you next week!

Party On Paper

Hi everyone! I've got a fun birthday card to share with you today.

This cute cupcake image is drawn by Mike Eustis and is available at Squigglefly. The image is called Stud Muffin and it comes with a really cute sentiment that is sure to make you smile.

I colored this with Copic markers and added some yellow stickles to the candle flame.  I pierced some holes around the circle.  I actually went to my sewing machine and stitched around the designer paper - I don't know what came over me!  LOL!  I made some little triangle shapes out of different colors of card stock and stamped them with a speckled pattern for a banner.  I used a white gel pen to make dots on the edges and each flag is popped up with a foam dot.  Doesn't it look like a birthday party on paper?

The front of the card does not go completely to the edge, I left it so some of the designer paper inside the card would show on the outside.  Here's a look at the inside with a computer generated sentiment.

I hope you have a wonderful day today, and thanks for looking!

Joyful Soul

Hi everyone! Hope your week has gotten off to a good start. My Monday was a Monday - not much more to say about that! But it will be a short week for me as I am taking Friday off to travel to Missouri to see one of my sisters. I have one sister who will be travelling with me, and two other sisters are also travelling there so it will be a mini reunion of all but one sister. I am looking forward to seeing everyone, but I am not looking forward to the drive on Friday and Sunday.

Today's card is one I made a while back for the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. You can see the card I picked to CASE by clicking HERE. I chose a sentiment from Squigglefly called Joy Everywhere.

I used a nestabilities die to cut out the opening and the pink frame.  It's hard to tell from the photo, but the sentiment is popped up behind the opening.  The flowers are from a couple of punches and I used some epoxy stickers for the center of the larger flowers.  The smaller flowers have stickles in the middle.

I love this sentiment, and while making it I thought of the people in my life that have this special gift of spreading joy.  People like this are rare, and if you have one in your life then you know what I mean - why not make them a card letting them know!  This card has been received by the person I was thinking of.

hot, hot, hot

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was really good, but left little time for crafting! On Saturday I went to the first birthday party of my best friend's grandson. He is so cute and the presents he got were such fun and so different from what was around when my kids were born

. I got my usal menu planning, grocery shopping, and cooking done. On Sunday my niece and her husband were driving from Houston, TX to Chicago, IL and stopped to have dinner with us. We went to our favorite Mexican food place and enjoyed our visit.

One card I did have time to make was this one using this Party Flamingo by artist
  Suzanne Urban.

I love this fun image! Suzanne always come up with fun images.  I colored this with Copic markers and computer generated the sentiment.  I used hot colors to go with the theme.  The sky is chalked, but it doesn't show up well in the photo.  This card has already been sent and received to a friend of mine and she loved it.

Today there is a new challenge on the Squigglefly blog!  I hope you will try to play along!

Look Who's One

Hi everyone! Gosh I am running late so this is going to be short, short, short!

My best friend's grandson is turning one year old in about a week. His birthday party is this weekend and I needed a card. You just can't go wrong with Eline Pelikhof's images for baby type cards!

The image is Happy Giraffe .  The sentiment was computer generated and printed at the same time that I printed the digi.  I colored with Copic markers and chalked the background.   I only added some embossing a little rain dot to finish this card!
I am entering this into Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge where the theme is A Day At the Zoo.
Have a great day!

ATT: Dianne Guillinger and One Card - 17 Challenges!

Hi everyone! We got some rain at my house yesterday! It was nice and the earth just drank it up.  We need so much more, but I'm so thankful for what we did get.

I still haven't heard from Dianne Guillinger on winning the car sign.  If I don't hear from her by the end of the day I will be announcing a new winner tomorrow.

I've got a card today that I really enjoyed making.  The image is just a gorgeous one and was a treat to color.  It's called Buried Treasure and comes with the sentiment.  Lynne Stansbery is the artist and you can get the image at Squigglefly.

I colored with Copic markers and chalked the sky.  Stickles and a little bit of white puff paint that I left unpuffed added interest to the water.  The sentiment was printed directly on to the designer paper.  The paper is from Papertrey Ink.

I made this for several challenges which are all listed below.  There are just too many summer themed challenges going on right now and I couldn't pass them up!

Hi everyone! Well Praise the Lord we got some rain yesterday! It poured for about 40 minutes while I was at work and it was so wonderful! Of course when I got home I discovered not a drop fell at our house!

Thank you for the well wishes too. I do still have swollen glands, but they aren't as swollen or painful as they were and I don't feel as tired and blahed out.

If you haven't been to Squigglefly's blog to see the design team's cards for the Paper Piecing challenge, you really should make a point to drop by and see. They are fabulous and have me itching to make a paper pieced card!

The card I have today is one I made for the Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge. The challenge was anything goes with a twist of Fish, so I used the newly released Something's Fishy by Mike Eustis for my card.   I love the smile on the fish's face!

I used Copic markers to color and chalked around the background.   I added some crystal lacquer to the water puddles and some yellow stickles to the goldfis.  The sentiment is computer generated.  The little strip of gold on the seam of the designer paper is a gift from Squigglefly team member Charlene Mitchell.  I love the delicate little golden strips!  Thanks again Charlene!

Hope you have a great day!

Where Is the Rain?

Hello everyone! I hope you had a nice weekend. Mine was a blur. I slept most of Saturday. I woke up with the glands in my neck very swollen and sore and just felt blah in general. The only thing I accomplished was grocery shopping. I was a little better yesterday but still didn't do much of anything. I got my cooking done and cleaned up around the house some. The weather wasn't as hot yesterday but they keep promising rain and it never comes. I long for a day with a long, soaking rain. Our yard needs it so badly! With the rain in mind came this card

The image is Puddle Jump by Kim Fleming.  I colored with Copic markers and chalked the gray sky.  I added a little crystal lacquer to the water puddle and computer generated the sentiment.  I added some red liquid pearls.

There's a new challenge on Squigglefly's blog today.  It's the first challenge for the new members of Rhonda's Rascals, so be sure you go take a peek!

Now, to announce the winner of the Sign Giveaway I had on my blog over the weekend....The winner is Dianne Guillnger!  Dianne, please e mail me at usyungs@gmail.com with your e mail address and I'll be sure to send you the information on how to claim your prize.  I hope your daughter is thrilled with her new sign!

If I don't hear back from Dianne by Wednesday night, I'll pick a new winner.  Thanks to everyone who commented!

Super Fun Giveaway!

Hi everyone!  I am really excited to tell you all that I have a great giveaway for you!  If you remember a few days ago I showed you the magnetic car sign that I made to advertise Squigglelfly.  You can see the post here if you missed it.  Well, the company has generously allowed me to offer a free sign to my readers!  Isn't that cool?!   Here's a picture of my sign - isn't it cute?

Not only can you make a magnetic car sign like I did for your car, but you can make a yard sign or even a banner!   How cool is it to design your own?  They have tons of great clip art and fonts that make designing your own so easy and so much fun!  Advertise your etsy shop, your blog, your business, your yard sale, or maybe  someone you know just had a baby - surprise them with their own personal yard sign to announce it to their neighbors!

All you have to do to be in the drawing to win this great deal is leave me a comment telling me what you would get - a magnetic car sign, a yard sign, or a banner and what it would advertise.  Hurry though!  This post is only open through the weekend.  I stop taking comments at 9 pm central time Sunday night and the winner will be announced Monday!  Good luck!

Hi everyone! I hope you had a safe and happy fourth of July. It was really hot here again so we didn't get out much. I stayed inside and mostly watched some movies on Netflix. I did make a couple of cards, but that was it as far as my crafting went.

Here's one of the cards I made using Happy Champagne for the Squigglefly blog challenge.  The challenge is to make a card using the color that reminds you of summer.  I think yellow when I think of summer because of the sun.

Louise Gardner is the artist of this cute image. I love the little happy face!  I colored this with Copic markers and chalked around the image while it was still in the oval die so it left a little white border.  I dotted a while gel pen on the scallops.  I used some liquid clear pearls and some stickles on the champagne.  The sentiment is computer generated.

I hope you have a great day, and thanks for looking!

Gypsy, Sol, and Playing Ball

Hi everyone and happy Independence Day! Today I have THREE cards to share with you, so I'm just going to get right to it.

The first two cards are for a couple of men who live in a retirement home in Canada. Their names are Gypsy and Sol. Gypsy and Sol were brought to the attention of the teapotters a while back and some of the teapotters opted to send them cards now and again to brighten their days. They don't have any family or friends who visit them and they share the cards they get with one another to double their pleasure.

This first card is going to Gypsy to celebrate Canada Day.  I used the cute Proud Canadian image that was drawn by Crissy Armstrong for his card.

I colored the image with Copic markers and computer generated the sentiment.  I used ribbon, but just tied it in a knot rather than a bow since it's going to a guy.  I hope he likes it!

My card to Sol is a birthday card since he had a birthday yesterday.  My card will not make it all the way Canada in time, so I computer generated a punny birthday sentiment.    As you can see, this is the same Proud Canadian beaver, but he's holding balloons instead of the Canadian flag.

Before printing the image I cropped out the flag in Photoshop and added balloons from Cheryl Alger's cute Birthday Balloon Girl image.  I hope that Sol and Gypsy get a kick out of seeing that both of their cards have the same beaver on them!

My last card is for Mothermark's Teaparty this week.  The theme is baseball and our cards are going to a police officer from Connecticut who was injured recently while on duty.  He is an avid fan of Penn State's baseball team.  I looked up their colors and made my card according to what I found.  The words are computer generated and a quote I found when looking up the baseball team's colors.

The background was some light blue cardstock that I sponged Brilliant Blue and some black Stazon ink on to. Then I wrapped some gray yarn around it. That's it for me today. I hope you enjoy your holiday, and if you have some free time go make a card for the Squigglefly challenge! You could be the lucky winner of THREE images from Squigglefly!

Hello Pops!

Hi everyone! Well we had a little bit of cloud coverage yesterday and the temps didn't get into the triple digits so it was a lot better. Plus the A/C at my office was working like a champ!

Yesterday the Outlawz Greeting Card challenge was an Anything Goes challenge so I decided to play along with this card.

The image is called Daisy Pops and comes with this image and six different sentiments! What a deal! It's drawn by Diana Garrison whose work I just adore.  I printed the image twice so I could pop up the flower tops.  It's colored with Copic markers and chalked in the background.  What you probably can't see unless you look really closely are the little white dots I made on the background.  I used white gesso to do the dots and I love how it leaves them raised up a little.  In fact, I love how the whole card turned out!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Chill Out!

Hi everyone! It's back to the grindstone today, but it's a short week because Wednesday is July 4th! It's so dry and hot here though that there probably won't be any fireworks.

Today is the last challenge of Holley's Hobbiest's as we know them at Squigglefly. Next week the new term of the design begins. We are really happy to say that most of the team is staying on and we have added some new team members! We are sorry to see Terri Fleming and Shawna Sealander leave us, but we understand that summer's are busy for these two ladies.

Anyway, be sure to go see the new challenge and please try to join in and play with us!  You can win even bigger this week if you play along because since there were no winners the last two challenges Squigglefly is adding those digis to this week's prize meaning you could win THREE digis if your card is chosen!  You must use a Squigglefly image to be eligible for the prize, but there are a lot of fun freebies to use!

The card I'm sharing with you today was made for a challenge at the Outlawz Party where we were supposed to show what summer is like in your part of the world. The Shy Bear Heave Wave Bear couldn't show any better what it's like here in central Arkansas!

I used copic markers and chalk to color.  I added a little bit of crystal lacquer to the spilled water.  The sentiment was computer generated.   This poor little guy has planted flowers and set up a nice chair and table on his deck hoping to enjoy the great outdoors, but the relentless sun and heat has wilted his flowers and his spirit!     I hope you are staying cool!
