Endings & Beginnings

Hi everyone! Well, here it is nearly the end of the year, and also the end of my time as guest designer at the Outlawz Clean and Simple challenge. This week the challenge is to create a CAS card featuring HAPPINESS! New beginnings, new year, new adventures! I used the Squigglefly image Here's To Anything drawn by Lynne Stansbery for my card.

I colored the image with Copic markers and added a bit of glitter to the champagne and bubbles.  The image was printed directly to the card at the same time as the sentiment.  Then I punched a circle out of some designer paper, cut it in half and positioned it over the image.  I covered the edge of the paper with some gold sticker strip.  Very simple and quick card to make!

I haven't gotten a lot of card making done since the Christmas holidays, but they have been some fun filled days with friends, family, and dogs!  I'll be back after the new year!

White Christmas

Christmas day it rained.  Later it turned to ice, then even later to snow.  We don't get much snow here, but this time we got at least six inches!  It is so beautiful, and I love it.  I do not love that it took a lot of trees out and also our power!  We lost our power at about 3 Christmas day and it just came on about 6 this evening.
My fingers are crossed that it stays on!   We did have a fire burning in the living room to keep warm.

Baxter loves the snow!  I did a little filming of the dogs checking it out today - it's kind of long because I didn't do any editing, but it's funny to watch Baxter eat the snow.

If you can't see the video on my blog you can view it on You Tube here

Wrapping Christmas Up

Happy Christmas Eve Eve! As you know I'm guest designing at the Outlawz Clean and Simple challenges this month. Today's challenge was an easy one - "WRAP IT UP" Challenge: In a frenzy many of us are scrambling to get the last of those packages wrapped. This week's challenge is to wrap up your CAS card or project by adding ribbon with a bow.

I used a fun Better Not Pout Santa image from Squigglefly.  I love this Santa image!  I gave him a swirly embossed beard.

There is liquid applique puffed up on the hat trim and pom pom, crystal lacquer and glitter on the holly berries, and his nose is popped up with a pop dot.  I thought the "Ho Ho Ho" paper was the perfect backdrop for him!  Each corner is wrapped with red ribbon and then it's tied at the top with a triple bow!

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!

Mistletoe Schmistletoe!

Hey everyone!  The Outlawz are having a fun Bah Humbug challenge on the Copic/Promarker challenge.   I couldn't resist playing along.  When I thought of bah Humbug, the first image that came to my mind is The Old Sot from Squigglefly.  I'm sorry if my car offends you in any way, but I thought it was pretty funny!

I'll be back tomorrow with my Clean and Simple card for the Outlawz challenge!  Have a fabulous Saturday!

Candy Cane Kisses

Here's another Christmas card made with Cheryl Alger's lovable and sassy little girl, Sally. This one is called Candy Cane Sally.

She's colored with Copic markers and chalked on the background.  White gesso was used for the dots on her dress.  The sentiment is computer generated and I paired her up with some fun candy cane paper!

Christmas is one week away and I'm still making cards!

There's a fun new challenge on Squigglefly's blog this week.  It's Anything Goes - just use a sentiment!
Come play with us - it's the last one of the year!

Clean and Simple Goes Shopping!

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA the last few days. I have been trying to finish up with lots of Christmas things. I have lots of baking and candy making to do today.

Yesterday I finished up the very last of my shopping. Speaking of shopping, that's the challenge at the Outlawz Clean and Simple challenge today where I am guest designer. We had to create and clean and simple card with presents on it! I chose to use the very cute Sassy Sally's Secret Santa Gift by Cheryl Alger.

I colored with copic markers and chalked a little around the background.  For the ribbon on the top present, I used silver embossing powder.  I added a little more sparkle by using glitter on the trim of the santa hat Sally is wearing.

I will probably be very sporadic in my blog posts until after Christmas because I still have so much to do.  I have most of my Christmas cards addressed and ready to mail, but there are still a few more I want to finish making.  Plus, I have that baking to do and then I have to bag the treats up to take to work.  I have most of the presents I've bought wrapped, but some are still waiting for me to find boxes.

I hope you have a great day, and thanks for looking!

A Couple Of Divas

Hi everyone. Well Brock's colonoscopy went fine. He didn't have any polyps. the bad thing is that they were running way behind and I was unable to make my dentist appointment. It's a good thing my broken tooth isn't hurting me! After we got home from his procedure, he rested a bit and then we took the dogs out to the park for a little outing.

Riley of course is all about the woods and hunting up things. Baxter is a little more refined and likes to stick to the path. So Riley runs in the woods, but keeps pace with us on the path. We got to the dividing line in the woods where there is a path that leads you deeper in the woods and a path that leads you out. Brock said he'd stay with Riley a little further in the woods and meet Baxter and me at the truck. Baxter and I took off to walk around the covered bridge, around a pond, and just up a little ways of another wooded path. Then we headed back to the truck to find Brock frantically washing Riley.

It seems she had encountered a skunk, and even though she's been skunked two other times she hasn't learned her lesson! The smell was atrocious! Baxter's reaction was so funny! We used our emergency skunk kit we had in the truck for just such an occasion. If you are ever in need it's hydrogen peroxide, baby shampoo, and baking soda. Mix with water and rub in. Let sit five minutes and rinse. Anyway, we got her cleaned up as best we could and then we all loaded up in the truck. Baxter and I held our noses out the window all the way home!

Once home, I carried Riley to the tub and gave her a thorough washing. Then the tub had to be scrubbed and we had two loads of laundry to do. Brock still has his shirt, his pants, and a towel out on the porch airing before we wash them separately or burn them! Riley didn't look too happy after her bath and I secretly was hoping she was miserable enough to make her think twice before attempting to get a skunk again!

Okay, I know you came here to see a card, so here's one I made for the Queen For A Day at Splitcoast Stampers. Here is the card I CASED. and here is my card

The image I used is an older one from Squigglefly called Madison and Popples.  I colored it with copic markers.  It's pretty easy to see that I did little else.  Just added some designer paper and a ribbon.

Well, I'm off to work to play catch up on the stuff I missed out on yesterday!  I wish you all a fabulous day!

Chickie Birthday

Good morning everyone! Today I am going in to work a little early because I need to leave really early in the day to take my better half to the doctor for his colonoscopy. Fun times! But wait - it gets even better! After that I get to go to the dentist to have him look at a tooth I broke! I do have the worst teeth. They don't get cavities or plaque or tartar build up, but they are weak as heck!

If I have any extra time after that I plan on getting my Christmas cards addressed and ready to mail. Yikes, time is creeping up on me! I still have things to buy!

I wanted to share a card I made over the weekend for the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. the card I chose to CASE can be seen HERE . I noted that she had several cards with this image so I thought it must be a favorite of hers. My image is an old favorite of mine from Squigglefly called Sharing Lunch, and it kind of reminds me of the one in the card I picked to CASE.

I colored the image with Copic markers and chalked the grass and sky.  The sentiment is computer generated.  It really was a quick card to make.  The part that took me the longest was choosing paper!

I hope you have a great day today!

Cool Couple

Hi everyone! I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was great - just passed by too quickly. I swear, this whole month is passing by too quickly! I planned on getting a lot of Christmas cards made this weekend, but I didn't even get one made!

I did make a couple of cards, but they were not Christmas cards. Here is one I made using Baby It's Cold Outside by Fawn Palmer

I colored the image with Copic markers and chalked the sky.  I used faux flower soft for the snow and hat trim.  The sentiment was computer generated, although the image comes with two really cute sentiments!

I made this for the Paper ala Mode challenge at the Outlawz where we are to make something with Snow People,  Jackson's Digital Expressons challenge which was Anything Goes - just use a digi, and 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge where it's snowing men (snowmen).  this card is also for the new Squigglefly challenge which begins today - use red and green!  I hope you'll play with us too!  Squigglefly will only have one more challenge this year.  We will be giving the design team a break until after the new year.

Crunching Simple Numbers

Hi all! Well it's time for another Sunday Clean and Simple challenge at the Outlawz where I'm happy to be playing along with the talented design team as guest designer this month.

This week the challenge is "Numbers" Challenge: Did you know that December 10th is Dewey Decimal System Day? I remember looking up these numbers religiously for book reports back in middle and high school. This week, we challenge you to create a CAS card featuring numbers. Use them on a background panel or as a focal point.....It should be as easy as 1, 2, 3!

For my card I chose one of my favorite images, Rah Rah Rhonda from Squigglefly.

I used Copic markers to color the image and added some glitter to her pom poms.  I sponged a little red ink around the edges of the oval.  I printed the sentiment and used some stickers for the numbers.  This was a quick card to make.  Come play with us!

I'll be back tomorrow with another card to share.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Holiday Lights

Hi everyone! I hope your having a great week!  Things are going well in my little corner of the world.  I still can't believe how quickly Christmas will be upon us!

Baxter, Riley, and our cat are all getting along famously.  I do believe Riley would miss Baxter if he wasn't around now.  Baxter has put on weight and all of his fur has grown back in from where the bacterial infection had made it fall out.  He's much better on a lot of the things that scared him around the house, but some things still drive him crazy.  One thing that really makes him go berserk is the little spray mister bottle that my husband uses to spray on his eyeglasses when he's cleaning them.  Baxter can be in another room of the house, and if Brock sprays that bottle he will tear out of the room and bark like mad!  It's amazing to me that he even hears it at all!

Another thing I find so funny is if we give the dogs a treat to lick off of a paper plate - Riley will immediately place her paw on the plate to keep it still while she licks.  Baxter will lick and follow the plate all over the room.  I can't seem to get him to learn to place his paw on it to hold it down.

Oh!  On another completely off topic note, I found out yesterday that elementary schools here are no longer teaching cursive writing!  I was shocked!  I guess since computers are here to stay, typing is more important than learning how to write in cursive.  what's your opinion on this?  I think it's kind of sad.  I have taken it upon myself to teach my boss's six year old cursive handwriting!  I printed out some practice sheets for her yesterday and she was excited to learn how.  Is this going on everywhere?

Okay, enough with the dogs and on to the card!  Today I have a fun card to share with you. I loved this All Lit Up image the minute I saw it. She was such fun to color and I loved adding the glitter to the lights.

I love the expression on her face!  She comes with some fun sentiments too!    If you are a subscriber to the online magazine Through The Craftroom Door, you probably recognize my card and the image.  Fawn Palmer was the featured digi artist in the November/December issue and subscribers got this image and two others free!  If you have any crafty friends on your Christmas list, a subscription to through The Craftroom Door would make an awesome gift!  There are free digis in every issue which more than pay for the price of the magazine!  I'm not affiliated, just a happy subscriber!

There's still time to play in Squigglefly's Blog Challenge, and I don't think we have a winner yet so your chances of winning are good!  Go play along!

Crazy For Featured Stamper

Hi everyone!  Well, I went a little crazy with the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast Stampers yesterday and ended up CASING four cards.

The first card I picked was this one, and here is my card

The image I used is one by Diane Carubia called Christmas Party Penguin.  the sentiment is from Jess Holland's Decorative Sentiments Set.   I really like the way this card turned out.  It's probably my favorite of all four I CASED.

The second card I chose is this one, and once again I picked an image by Diane Carubia.  This cute image is called  Heartfelt Posie Bear.

The third card can be seen HERE, and here is my version

The flowers are from Lynne Stansbery and is called Sunflowers.    The sentiment is another one from Jess Holland called Birthday Wishes.    This one is my second favorite of the bunch.

Last but not least I chose this card and made this

This is another Diane Carubia image called Maisy Dressing Snowman.  I like this card, but out of all four it's my least favorite.

Today is a new challenge on the Squigglefly Blog.  the theme is Winter Wonderland, so my first and last card  are both going to that challenge!  I hope you'll play along too!

I'll leave you with one last picture.  This one is of Baxter sleeping on the couch with our cat - don't they look cute together?

Guest Designing at Outlawz

Hi everyone! I am honored that I was asked to be a guest designer for the Outlawz Clean and Simple challenges during the month of December, and today is the first challenge!

The theme of the challenge is "Season of Light Challenge" - It's coming up on the holiday season once again, and everywhere we look there are lights shining. This is an easy CAS challenge for you to let your light shine. Create a card showing something that shines. It can be a background or an image (your eyes) - let your light shine.

I chose to use this Christmas Candle by Lynne Stansbery as the main image, and the sentiment is from Stampin Up!

I colored the image with Copic markers and used chalk for the candle's glow.  I also added some yellow stickles to the flame.  Staying with the clean and simple challenge all I did was add a red ribbon to finish it off!  I hope you'll play along in the challenge too!  Also, today is the last day to play in Squigglefly's glitter and bling challenge!

Have a wonderful day!

New Month, New Images, New Artist!

Hi everyone - happy weekend! I slept in rather late this morning so that is why you are seeing this in your mail or google reader so late! I didn't want the day to pass without posting though because today is the new release at Squigglefly! Not only are there some wonderful new images, but we are introducing Elizabeta Kushner as a new artist!

My card today features the brand spankin' new Holiday Lamp Post by Lynne Stansbery. The sentiment is included with the image.

I colored this with Copic markers and chalked the sky and glow from the lamps. I wanted it to appear to be night time so I chalked the blue pretty heavily and added a bit of gray to the edges.  Once I had everything colored, I edged the sides with some silver ribbon and mounted it on to a navy card and then splattered the white gesso for a snowy look.

I am entering this into the Outlawz Greeting Card Challenge where the theme is Anything Goes.

I am off to do my errands, but I will be back tomorrow!  Have a great Saturday!
