Featuring Daisies That Pop!

hi everyone! Well, here's another card i wanted to make over the weekend but couldn't because of my printer. This was done for the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast Stampers on Sunday. The original card I CASED is so much better than mine that I'm hesitant to even point you in the direction of it, but you can see it here I followed her layout and even liked the sentiment enough to make my own as similar as possible.  If you like the sentiment I'm offering it to you for free below the card.

I used the Daisy Pops image by Diana Garrison and colored the image with Copic markers.  The middle of the flowers are filled in with yellow stickles.  I sponged the background with blue and green inks.
The little green dots by the sentiment are rain dots.  I'm running out of those and am thinking about getting some of the skittles that I've seen people using.

Here's the sentiment I promised!

Wishing you a great hump day!  Thanks for looking!

There's A Full Moon

Hi everyone!  Well, I have a printer now.  It's not brand new, but it works and that's what matters!  I e mailed HP about the cartridges and they said they'd be happy to give me one time exchange on my cartridges provided the new printer was new - so looks like that ship has sailed!  I'll hang on to the info though just in case this printer fails on me and I do end up getting a new one.  I have to say that I think it's pretty crappy you can't get at least a partial refund from HP on un-opened ink cartridges.  They have a warranty date of November 2014 stamped on the package!

So, one of the challenges I wanted to make a card for before my printer quit was the Outlawz Clean and Simple challenge which is to feature a full moon on your card.  I am pretty sure they are not talking about the type of full moon my card shows, but this is what they got!

I printed the sentiment and cut a window out to let part of the image show through.  Here's the inside of the card

come on, you knew it was coming right?  The image is one from Marlene Shaw called You Deserve the Moon.  It comes with a sentiment, but not the one shown on my card.

I colored the image with Copic markers and chalked around the background some in yellow.   I hope it made you laugh or at least smile!  Enjoy your day!

Tossing Hearts

Hi everyone! I hope your weekend was a good one. I got a lot done. Saturday I worked like a mad woman getting everything that needed to be done, done so that I would have Sunday free to do what I wanted. Sunday I got up and played with the dogs outside for a while and then came in to make some cards. I browsed some challenges and had a plan in mind. I went to print out the images I'd need and my printer wouldn't work! I kept getting a message that the printer cartridge wasn't compatible. So I go on line to see how to fix it and let's just say that over three hours later I still did not have a working printer. I finally tossed it.

Needless to say I did not get all of the cards made that I wanted to. Something about trying to get a printer working again zaps your creativity. Plus, I still have two un-opened ink cartridges that I want credit for! I called HP to see about getting credit and the guy kept trying to get me to get a new printer. Finally he did give me an e mail address where I have sent an e mail requesting credit for these cartridges. Ink is too expensive, and I do want my credit!

Here's a card I made last week. I made this for my boss's daughter's birthday. She is now seven years old, and she informs me that "seven is awesome!"

The image is one by Cheryl Alger called Juggling Hearts Bear.  I colored the image with Copic markers and used some white gesso to make the white dots on the card stock and ribbon.  I did chalk blue on the sky, but it looks washed out in the photo.

There's a brand new challenge on the Squigglefly Blog today.   We are welcoming a new design team member this week.  Lisa Minckler had to leave, and we are so happy to have Darlene Pavlick taking her spot!  I hope you'll stop by to see what the team has done, and play along with us!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Mooood Music

Hi everyone and yay for Friday! Thanks for all the get well wishes yesterday! I'm ready for us to both be over all of this mess, but I'm way better off than my husband is! To those of you who got all the snow - lucky you! All we got was a lot of rain. I don't know why it was raining when it was about 33 degrees outside!

Remember when I made the Divine Bovine Valentine for the Teaparty? Well, my first thought was to make a card using the Divine Bovine Bath image. I had this card all ready when I changed my mind.  I kept the image I colored though and made it into a birthday card instead!

I colored the image with Copic markers and the sentiment is computer generated.  I used stickles for the bubbles.  The Divine Bovine cards always tickle me, I don't know why except I do love puns!

My plans for the day are to finish work and then get to the grocery store and do my grocery shopping for the week.  I already have my menu planned, so I can do all of my cooking tomorrow and have Sunday set aside for crafting!  I hope you all have a great weekend, and I will see you back here on Monday with a new Squigglefly challenge!  In the mean time, there is still time for you to play in the current challenge HERE

Love Is...

Hi everyone! Well, they say things happen in threes and the third thing has happened to both me and my husband. First there was Brock's knee, then his virus, and now he's got a toothache! Poor man - I highly doubt he can take much more.

With me it was my fall and the bad bruise, then the shingles, and now I've got a really bad outbreak of fever blisters on my lip! Hopefully we will get over these and there won't be any more surprises for a while! We got a little bit of sleet yesterday which was nice because I enjoy winter sticking around as long as it can. It didn't ice up and make all of the trees break or make our power go out which was also nice! Last year at this time it was already so warm, so it's nice to have a real winter this time around!

The other day Brock was laying on the floor to do his knee exercises and when he stopped to rest his leg, both the dogs came up to him and cuddled.  It was so cute I had to snap a picture

So the card I've got today is very appropriate after that.  It uses one of the newest images at Squigglefly. It's drawn by Lynne Stansbery and is such a sweet image. It's called Warm Feet Means Warm Dog and I so enjoyed coloring it. It comes with the sentiment too.  I used to have a little red dachshund who wold sleep with me, and this reminded me of her.

I colored the image with Copic markers and used a scalloped circle die to clip the corners.  I did the same thing to the sentiment panel.  The card base is embossed with a Darice embossing folder of paw prints.  Two little blue rain dots anchor the sentiment.

I hope you have a great Thursday!

Purple tulips

Hi everyone! I hope your week is going great. Brock's knee recovery is going well, although if he keeps pushing himself too much he's going to be sorry! I caught him walking down and back up our steep driveway yesterday and he also decided it was a good time to put four bags of mulch in the flower bed! I swear he needs a babysitter sometimes.  Now he's caught some kind of virus and has an ear infection.  He's on antibiotics and antihistamines.

Last week my car's door handle broke on the driver's side and the only way I could get out of the car was to roll the window down and open it from the outside. Luckily it was not an expensive repair job and I only had to drive Brock's truck to work one day! My bruise from my fall is almost completely gone, but now I've got shingles on the back of my leg right behind the knee! I swear it's better than the bruise was though! Maybe I should get that new shingles vaccine they've got out since this is my second time to have shingles.

Yesterday was the teaparty, and you saw the card I made for it but here is a card I made before making the other one. She said she liked tulips too, and I've always loved the Retro Tulips image from Squigglefly so I used that.

I used Copic markers to color the image and notched the corners with a punch.  The black paper behind it is a some I received from former Squigglefly design team member Terri Fleming.  The little flowers at the bottom are embossed and lets the purple under color show through.   This piece is what inspired my color choice for the tulips.

I wish you all a happy hump day!  There's still plenty of time to join in Squigglefly's Sentimental challenge!

Tea and Roses

Hi everyone! How was your Monday? Schools were out here for parent teacher conferences and my boss's six year old daughter came over to my office right after lunch to play house. It was the most exhausting four hours of play time! She likes to be a baby and pretend I'm her mother. She talks baby talk and pretends she can't walk. The baby talk is the most grating thing! She does come up with some funny ideas though, and I know she will be grown up before I know it so I try to enjoy these times.

It's Tuesday, so that means that it's a day for a tea party! This week we are all making cards with roses to send to a lady who is having problems with an infection in a hip replacement. The doctors had to remove the artificial hip and are trying to get the infection cleared up. If they can't, she is facing having her leg amputated at the hip. She loves roses, so that's what we're all bringing to the tea party! I thought the Tea Roses image by Marla Shega was the perfect image as it features roses as well as a tea cup for the tea party!

I colored the image with copic markers.  The sentiment is from the I Miss You image by Lynne Stansbery.   The Squigglefly challenge this week is to use a sentiment, so I'm entering this card in to that challenge.  The design team made so many wonderful cards that will inspire you to play too.

Have a great day!

Birthday Bears

Hi everyone! I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was quiet, but that's how I like them! I did get lots of play time in! Here are a couple of birthday cards I made for birthdays coming up next month. I used one of my favorite shy bears drawn by Lynne Stansbery. This particular one is called Shy Bear Bouquet Bear

I printed the sentiment on to the paper in a brown color.  The image was colored with Copic markers.

These are both pretty simple cards, but now I've got two more cards to add to my stash for March birthdays!

Brock is doing really great with his knee since his surgery.  He's not even having to use crutches anymore, and he's started his exercises and is not experiencing much pain at all.  My bruise is greatly improved, and the goose egg knot is just about gone!

Wishing you all a happy start to your week!

A Bunch Of Daisies!

hi everyone!  Happy Valentines Day!  I hope you are able to spend this day with the one you love above all else!

Do you remember this card I made with the Big Bloom image by Jane Beljo not long ago?  Well, I thought it was the perfect card to make more of for all of the birthdays I have coming up this month.  I printed the image on to kraft card stock and made up several.

Each one is a little different, but all of them feature the daisy printed on kraft and colored with a white colored pencil.  All of the sentiments were computer generated.   Here are close ups of each one

this one is same as the first as far as the lay out goes.

this one I just angled the images and put them on the side of the card

Same as the first, but I added a scored line and a pierced scalloped border

this one has the image angled and I have a punched scallop border and embossed dots in each scallop

This last one is the same as the last only minus the border.

This whole idea really helped me get a leg up on some of the birthday cards I was behind on this month!  All except the last one have brown liquid applique puffed up in the centers of the flowers.

Thanks for the well wishes to my husband on his knee surgery.  My bruise is playing second fiddle to his knee, but it's finally starting to feel a little better.  I can sit without wincing now!

With Love On Your Birthday

Hi everyone! Yesterday my husband had his knee surgery for the torn meniscus. He did just fine and now just has to exercise his leg and use crutches for a few weeks. I'm so glad that he will finally be rid of the pain that's been bothering him for so long.

One of Squigglefly's design team leaders, Rhonda had a birthday on Monday and this is the card I made for her.

It is one of Cheryl Alger's images called Sassy Sally's Heart Balloon. Of course it would be perfect for valentine's day, but I think it's a great all around image to send to anyone to let them know you're thinking of them. I colored the image with copic markers and paper pieced the dress and the balloon.  I also added little black dots to the red heart brad to match everything.    If I had only chosen pink instead of red I could enter this in Squigglefly's challenge this week!  Since there was no winner last week, this week's winner will get to choose two images!  Why don't you go play?

In the Moood for Love!

Hi everyone!   the Teaparty this week is to make a valentine for a sweet couple, Sara and Leavie.  Sara was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago and appeared to be doing fine until recently they discovered a tumor in the same spot and the cancer has spread to the bones in her upper body.  Sara loves cows so I was especially happy to have a great reason to go back to some of my favorite Squigglefly series - the Divine Bovines.  I just love those images!  I chose to use the Divine Bovine Valentine.  this one comes with so many hilarious sentiments!

I took a tumble over the weekend and bruised my derriere pretty good!  I was watching the dogs outside and trying to get them to come into the back yard.  I stupidly walked backwards toward the gate while watching and calling them and I tripped over this frame that holds a chair hammock and fell down with my rear end colliding with the other leg of the frame!  It hurts to sit for sure!  I am turning several lovely shades of purple and blue too!

It's All Worthwhile

Hi everyone. Yay for Fridays, right? Today I've got a card I made for the Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge where the twist is Valentines! I used the newly released Up Close And Personal image by Lynne Stansbery. It comes with the sentiment I used plus one more.

I just love the image and enjoyed coloring it. I used Copic markers and then matted it with some red card stock.  The sentiment was divided into two parts and also matted with the red card stock.  The card base is made from some glossy black card stock.  The little hearts on the lower part of the sentiment were waste parts from a border die I have.

I hope you have a great Friday!

Who Loves Ya

Well I said I got all of my valentine cards in the mail, but that doesn't mean I've shown you all of them! Here's one I made with A Winter Owl by Fawn Palmer

He's colored with Copic markers and though it's hard to tell in the photo, I did chalk the sky with some blue.  The sentiment was computer generated.  I used the last piece of handmade paper I won a while back - I love the texture in it.  It's strips of phone books that have melted wax on them and they are sewn down with black thread.  I may have to try my hand at making some paper like that sometime when I have some time!  LOL!

Have a great Wednesday!

Bug Hugs

Hi everyone! Today is another Teaparty at Splitcoast Stampers. Our cards this week are going to an 83 year old woman who has broken both of her legs - can you imagine?! And, this is the second time she's been in rehab for breaking her legs! anyway, she loves lots of things including ladybugs, so I made her a card with one of the newer images at Squigglefly called Ladybug In Love. I love this image because not only is it cute as can be, but it's a great one for all kinds of occasions! Of course, it's great for Valentines Day, but I think it is a good birthday card image and thinking of you image as well!

I colored this with Copic markers and chalked the sky.  The sentiment is computer generated.

I got all of my valentine cards addressed and ready to mail out yesterday!  I spent some time over the weekend making a bunch of valentines like the first three in THIS POST.  They make up really quickly!

Be sure to take some time this week to play in Squigglefly's challenge!  It's one I'm going to try hard to play in before the week gets away from me!

Love Is Going To Pot

Hi everyone! I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was good, but as usual went by way to quickly. I didn't get as much done as I had hoped, and unfortunately that too is far to usual! I have woken up the past few nights with a really stiff neck. It's driving me crazy. I think I need a new pillow and I have the hardest time finding a good pillow. any suggestions? Have you seen the infomercial for the "best pillow ever"? I saw that pillow at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and it does not look like it would be very comfortable at all.

Today there is a brand new challenge at the Squigglefly blog. As you know Squigglefly just had a release of new images over the weekend, so be sure to go see what the talented team has done this week!

One challenge I made a card for yesterday was the Paper Ala Mode challenge at the Outlawz. The challenge is to use the word LOVE or make a heart shaped project. here's my entry

i used a new image at Squigglefly by Cheryl Alger called Plant A Seed Of Love.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  I thought about adding a little sparkle to the heart shaped flowers, but ended up not doing it.  I found some pretty watercolored looking designer paper with little hearts scattered on it and I thought the soft colors went well with the image.  Then I tied a piece of pink yarn around the card and through a bead that has the word LOVE on it.

Have a great Monday!

Doodle Bloom

Hi everyone! did you see the wonderful new images at Squigglefly? Here's a quick one layer I card I made with the new Doodle Bloom by Jane Beljo. I combined it with the Birthday Wishes  sentiment by Jess Holland.

I colored the image with Copic markers and the added a little yellow button in the center of the big flower.  Doesn't it make a sweet birthday card?    This is another card that is so quick to make that I may make several to have on hand.  I think rounding the corners will be a nice touch of some of them!

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!  We got out in the woods for a hike today and the dogs are tired but happy.  See you on Monday!

The Future

Hi everyone! Happy Friday and happy February! January really went by in a wink, didn't it?

Before I get to my card today I have to tell you something my husband did for me last night that I thought was so sweet!  The last few nights when we were eating dinner he would offer to make me a milk shake for dessert.  Well, by the time I finish dinner I'm too full for a milk shake, and waiting until later never happens because I get sleepy and go to bed.  (We eat late dinners!)

anyway, yesterday I get home from work and he tells me "We never have time for dessert, so how about tonight you eat dessert FOR dinner?  and he had gone to the store and bought my favorite things to flavor the milk shake - heath bars and malt!  Now how sweet is that?

So when dinner time rolled around, he fixed me this

I couldn't help but laugh, I mean is that sugar overload or what?!  Still it was so thoughtful and sweet how he the thought of my favorite things.  sorry ladies, I'm keeping him!

Today I have a card I did purely for relaxation and fun.  I was reading a bunch of political stuff and it made me fear for our country's future. to relax myself and get my mind off of it all I went to make some cards. this is the result!

I used the Shady Lady image from Squigglefly, and of course the sentiment is computer generated. It's a twist on the old "my future's so bright I gotta wear shades" song by Timbuk3. I colored with Copic markers, cut her out and plopped her on some paper that matches her dress.  I hope you find some humor in it!

Tomorrow is the new release of images at Squigglefly.  Be sure to take some time to come see - remember we are welcoming a new artist this month!  Gayle Seech has some fabulous artwork that I know you will adore.
