unexpected post

Well, here I am back after I just told you all that I wouldn't be back until after Christmas, but today I made a couple more last minute things and I wanted to share them with you.  My best friend asked me if I would  make a card for a friend of hers.  This friend had been teasing her saying that he needed a Rolex watch for Christmas, so she asked me to make a card that had a pop up of a picture of a Rolex.  This is the card I made

The image is one from Squigglefly called Hang Ten by Cheryl Grant Alger.   I colored it with Copic markers and chalked the sky and then added some white gesso snowflakes.  The snow bank was glittered and then I cut up pieces of holographic tinsel.  It was messy, but I do like the look!  Here's a close up

The sentiment was computer generated.  I then added a punched and glittered snowflake.  I found a picture of a Rolex I liked and printed it out to the right size.  Since the watch in the photo had little diamonds, I added some glitter to mine!

She said he loved it, so that's all that matters.

Then today I was wrapping gifts.  I wanted to give twenty-five dollars to my boss's kids, but I didn't just want to give them money or a gift card.  I wanted to present the money in a fun way.  I have already given them a wreath that I made HERE , so I was playing around with different things to do and came up with these little Christmas trees.

I was in a hurry, but I think with a little more time you could dress these up by wrapping them with miniature lights, or something.  I will try to get a tutorial up on these soon.  The stars are a Spellbinders die that I applied yellow stickles to.
Here's a closer look.

Okay, I think I'm done now!  Merry Christmas to you all!

Christmas Break

Hi everyone!  Last night I stayed up late finishing up the last of my Christmas cards.  I got 16 more cards made, and this morning I got up and got them all in envelopes and in the mail.  Whew!  What a relief to have that done!  I didn't take the time to take a picture of them.

I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas.  My wish for you in the coming year is happiness, good health, and lots of love in your lives.  I will be back after the new year to share cards with you again.  Squigglefly will have a new release of images on the 4th, and I'm excited to announce a new artist who will be making her debut at that time!  So, after the holidays are over, I hope you'll return!

love birds

Good morning everyone!  Friday is almost here, and my weekend is jam packed with so many things I still need to get done before Christmas!  I still have to buy two gifts, and I haven't done any of my wrapping!  Yikes!  I am feeling the pressure!
However, my cards will be in the mail this weekend so that's something!  I keep thinking about this new image in Squigglefly's store that Dawn Collins has.  It says "Keep Calm, It's Only Christmas" and right now for me that is something I need to remember!   In fact, if I weren't so far behind I'd make a lot of cards with that image and send them out to stressed friends!  LOL!

My card today doesn't have anything to do with Christmas.  This is an anniversary card for a special couple.  The image is one by Judith Hart called Love Birds.

I colored the image with Copic markers.  For the trees, I just dotted different shades of greens and yellows.  The little heart was colored and then I applied some glitter to it.  The sentiment was computer generated.  The embossing on the blue layer has birds on it, but it's hard to tell because most of it is covered up!

I wish you all a very happy  and stress free day!

hairy legs

Hi everyone!  I'll bet you're wondering about the title of my post, but I can explain.  It's for a challenge at Delicious Doodles .  The theme is "hairy legs" and you can interpret the challenge however you want.  I figure dogs have hairy legs, so I am using Christmas Beagle by Marla Shega.  The sentiment is from Charlene Mitchell's
Merry Christmas Set.    I love this set of Christmas greetings!

I colored the image with Copic markers and added some glitter to the trim and pom pom on the hat.  The striped designer paper is all glittered too, so this is one sparkly card!   With all of the red on this, I could use it for this week's Squigglefly challenge!  This is Squigglefly's last challenge of the year - so go play!

I have most of my cards signed, sealed, and addressed.  I'm going to try to knock out a few more cards though because I am sorely short this year!  I vow to do better next year!

I'm A Star

Hi Everyone!  Happy Monday to you!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Mine went by too fast, like they always do.  Today I have a card for the brand new
Squigglefly challenge which is to use red on your card, and I'm also entering it the
Twisted Thursday challenge at the Outlawz where the twist is snowflakes.  I think the little snowflake flurries in the corners have that covered!

This cute little snowman swinging on a star is one from Cheryl Grant Alger at Squigglefly called I'm A Little Star.   I thought about that song "Would You Like To Swing On A Star" while I was coloring this, and it occurred to me that swinging on a star would be rather uncomfortable because they are pretty pointy!  I colored the image with Copic markers and added some glitter to the snowman.  The Merry Christmas circle is also from Squigglefly, and is by Jess Holland.

I hope you have a wonderful Monday!

With Holly

Happy Friday!  Here's another card that's quick to put together for a last minute card, but you can dress it up as much as you want with different papers and elements.  I kept mine simple and only added a little snowflake charm and some ribbon.

The image is new in Squigglefly's store this month and is called We Wish You With Holly.  It's by Fawn Palmer.   I added a little crystal lacquer on the holly berries for some extra dimension.  Have a great weekend, and I'll be back on Monday!

Nice n' Easy

Hi all!  I hope you are having a great week!  With only a couple of weeks left until Christmas you are probably sending out your Christmas cards and finding that you need a few more.  Well this new digital image from Judith Hart called Joy To The World is here to help simplify your card making.

This card is just the image with very little red coloring added to the word and some yellow stickles added to the star.  Very simple, but I love it.  I just added some holiday paper and a couple of ribbon borders to finish it off!

I am planning on mailing all of Christmas cards out this weekend.  I didn't make as many this year as I usually do, but with simple cards like this I have time to make and send more and won't end up sending store bought cards!

Meet Stanley

Hi everyone!  Thank you to everyone who asked about my many falls on the ice yesterday.  I did not get hurt in any of my falls since I was anticipating it so I was crouched down low and didn't have far to fall.  Plus, I wasn't in the parking lot, I was in a field so under the ice was lots of leaves and grass.  Every time I fell though, the dogs would run up and around me to make sure I was okay!  I don't know how much help they would have been if I wasn't okay though!

How about a little levity today?  Meet Not So Manly Stanley!  He is one of Squigglefly's newest images and he was drawn by artist Fawn Palmer at the request of one of our customers who wanted an image to go with  this sentiment already in the store.   Stanley comes with his own sentiment though too!  I think Fawn did a fantastic job drawing this, and the customer is pleased as punch at the image too!

I colored the image with Copic markers and added a little bit of glitter to the fur around his neck.  I used the sentiment that comes with the image.  I am sure that everyone has a friend or two who would love the humor in this image!  I know I have one particular person in mind for this card - she will get a big kick out of it!

Wreath & tag

Hi everyone!  Well my boss told me to stay home for another day so I took advantage and got my grocery shopping and cooking for the week finished.  I was sure a sight though trying to get my groceries home!  We have a very steep hill, so when the threat of ice came I parked in a church parking lot next to our house.  Walking from the house to the lot took some effort however!  It took me three trips to bring the groceries inside, and I fell about six different times!  The dogs were going wild seeing me fall.

The good news is that I did accomplish the task and got everything done!

Here's a card I made over the weekend with a beautiful Holly Wreath  by Pamela Lehto and a new sentiment by Elizabeta Kushner called Christmas Greeting.

I colored the image with Copic markers and then added some glue drops to the holly berries and then sprinkled on some shredded red glitter.  The sentiment was made into a little tag and tied with some red floss.  I added some of the shredded red glitter to a snowflake and adhered it to the ribbon.

This is for the Squigglefly Challenge - Christmas Spirit
365 Cards - 2X3 where you use 2 of something.  I used two digital stamps
and Free for All at Splitcoast Stampers - use holiday greenery

I hope you have a great day whatever you're up to and wherever you are!

A Day For Challenges

Hi everyone!  Well, we didn't get as much ice as they had been predicting, and for that I am grateful.  I wasn't relishing losing trees or power!  It was enough ice though to have work cancelled for the day.  I spent a lot of time making cards.

Yesterday while I was making cards I received such a special surprise.  The doorbell rang and it was the mailman.  I was surprised to see him delivering mail to me on a Sunday, and I was also surprised that he had managed to walk up our icy (and very steep hill) driveway!  But the biggest surprise was what was in the big box he handed me.  Squigglefly design team member Pat Martin posted a fantastic piece of art on her blog a week or so ago.  Go see it HERE.  Well, she sent it to ME!  I just love it, and will be displaying it every Christmas.  It's so pretty and I can't thank her enough for it!

Today I'm sharing a couple of cards I made for the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  This artist has a ton of cards in her gallery that I loved.    I CASED this card  and then made another one CASING this card.

This is one of the newest images at Squigglefly.  It's by Cheryl Grant Alger and is called
Wind In My Hair.  I colored with Copic markers and added some snowflake dots with white gesso.  I used a little bit of crystal lacquer for the ice.
The sentiment is a new one from Elizabeta Kushner called Holiday Greeting.  I added a couple of punched snowflakes and pearls.  This card also qualifies for the following challenges:
Digi Haven - Christmas
Delicious Doodles - Christmas
Card Making Mamas - Christmas
Creative Corner - Christmas

Speaking of challenges, Squigglefly has a new one today too and my first card fits it because the challenge is Christmas!  Come play with us!

My second card uses a snowman by Carmen Gamble called It's Snowing!   I colored with Copic markers and again used white gesso to dot some snowflakes in the sky.  The snow under the snowman is puffed paint.  I computer generated the sentiment.  I loved the sentiment on the card I was CASING because I needed a birthday card and don't always want to use snowmen for Christmas.  I added a couple of buttons and some cording.   This card also qualifies for Card Crafters Circle Challenge - Celebrations.

I will be leaving for a work a little late this morning because I want to wait until someone else from work has traveled the roads so they can let me know if they are good or not.  I am a chicken when it comes to driving on roads with ice patches!  I wish you all a great day!

Crazy weather

Hi everyone!  Well today it's supposed to be in the low to mid 70's and tomorrow they are calling for a cold front to move in and winter weather in the form of freezing rain will be moving in tomorrow night!  Isn't that nuts?  I for one will be just like this little guy

Yep - that's me holding up my "let it snow" sign!  This is a card I made a while back for a one layer card challenge, but I wasn't happy with my snowflakes so I never posted it.  The snowman is one from Carmen Gamble called Let It Snow Man.  I printed it on to kraft card stock and used colored pencils to color the image.  The snow bank was sponged on white ink.  Then I messed everything up by using a white gel pen to draw on some snowflakes.  I guess I should have known better because I'm no artist - that's why there are such great digi stamps out there!

What's That Smell?

Hi everyone!  I'm sorry I missed posting yesterday.  I really enjoyed my time off work for Thanksgiving, but the days were spent with family, friends, and errands so I did not get much crafting time in.  I did manage to make this birthday card using the Fetch What? image from Squigglefly.    It's drawn by Lynne Stansbery.
I'm entering this in the Outlawz Copic Promarker challenge which is Anything Goes this week!

There's just something about a dog tilting their heads that makes me say "aw!"  I colored this with Copic markers and computer generated the sentiment.   I still have several birthday cards to make for this month!  I hate missing sending birthday cards to people, but especially hate it for December birthdays because I think people with birthdays in December tend to be lost in the Christmas spirit.

Squigglefly has a new challenge on their blog that started yesterday, and if you go look you will see lots of sneak peeks at some of the images coming out next weekend for the December release!  The challenge is an easy one too - just add some sparkle to your project!  I hope you'll play along!

Sunday we took the dogs out to a friend's farm.  Riley always has the best time there.  She digs through all the grass and under machinery looking for mice and what not.  This was Baxter's first time there, and it was a classic case of the country dog and the city dog.  Riley was everywhere not caring about dirt or any danger, and Baxter pretty much stayed to the trails.  Here's a few shots

At one point Baxter was on a little patch of land that had water around it and he barked at us like he was stranded on an island!  I guess he thought the water was deeper than it was or he didn't want to get his feet wet.  With some coaxing he did wade through it and join us.  Here's a picture of him "stranded."
