From Owl Of Us

Hi everyone!  Yay - Friday is finally here!  I'm sure a lot of you are happy to see February end too.  I'm excited to share today's care with you because it's a sneak peek of an image that will be part of Squigglefly's March release tomorrow!

The image is called Owl Stack and is drawn by Carmen Gamble.    I made two cards and colored them both with Copic markers.  I used some of those fun cat eyes for a little extra punch.  The sentiments are computer generated.  I love the expressions on each owl's face!  The bottom one has his hair squashed down, and the middle one has little pig tails!  Seeing the middle one has eyelashes reminds me of something my oldest daughter said when she was about 4 years old.  She loved My Little Pony, and had a whole collection of them.  One day she told me she knew how to tell the boy ponies from the girl ponies.  I asked her how and she said "because the girl's have long eyelashes!"

The die used on the background is called  Proud Peacock and is from Taylored Expressions.  I used it because it reminded me a little of the owl feathers.  These were really fun cards to make.

I hope you'll come and check out all of the new images at Squigglefly tomorrow!

Birthdays Are For The Birds

Hi everyone!  I didn't post anything yesterday because I ran out of cards!  I told you I didn't get much crafting done over the weekend.  I did manage to finish up a card last night that I had colored the image for already.  It's a birthday card because as you know I'm building up my stash!

The image is one from Squigglefly by Diana Garrison called Birds On A Wire.   I had a lot of fun coloring the birds crazy fantastical colors.  I chalked the sky.  The sentiment is also from Squigglefly and is by Michelle Bertuzzi.  It's part of a set of images called Birdie Birthday Set.    I did some sewing around the layers  and added a little burlap flower.

I am entering this card into three challenges.  The Alcohol Markers Challenge at the Outlawz which is "Things With Wings",  the Paper A la Mode Challenge at the Outlawz which is to add flowers, and  the Clean and Simple Challenge at the Outlawz which also has the flower theme.  Speaking of challenges, there is still time for you to play in Squigglefly's challenge which is a fun recipe challenge this week!

I will be back tomorrow with a fun card that features a sneak peek at one of the images being released at Squigglefly on Saturday!

Birthday In The Round

Hello everyone!  Today I've got another birthday card to share.  I really like how this turned out.

The image is from Squigglefly and is Bouquet Kitten  by Diane Carubia.   I printed it on to kraft card stock and colored it with colored pencils.  The sentiment is also from Squigglefly and is by Jess Holland.    I dressed the card up with some pearls and some pretty pink ribbon, and of course the embossing is always fun to add.

I am entering this into Thursday Twist challenge at the Outlawz which is to use three of something on your card, and I have the three little pearls.   See ya'll tomorrow!

Hi everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Mine was okay.  I spent a lot of time cleaning the house which was good, but it means I didn't get as much card making done as I would have liked.  I have to admit though, that having the house clean feels really good!

The card I'm sharing today is one I originally made for  a challenge which was based on a photograph where you were supposed to make a card based on the colors you saw in the photograph.  I saw red, black, and green.

The image that I used is from Squigglefly and is by Lynne Stansbery.  It's from a set of all different kinds of flowers called Flowers Set.  I printed the flower twice and cut out the middle part to pop it up for dimension.  Once I had the layers of the flower down, I used a light gray Copic marker to make a shadow around the image.  The sentiment was computer generated at the same time I printed one of the flowers.

The corner is a die I just bought that I colored with Copic markers.  The back ground which is the card base is embossed with an embossing folders.

I want to remind you all that today is a new challenge on the Squigglefly blog!    I hope you find some time to play along.  I'm going to try my best to play!

Simple mistake!

Hi everyone and happy, happy Friday!  I am happy to report that Tara loved her birthday card and the doll.  She immediately remembered asking me to make her birthday card with that image too.

Today I have another birthday card to share with you.  This one uses a Squigglefly image drawn by Cheryl Grant Alger called Simple Adorable Flower Girl.  Look at the card closely.

Do you see it?  I had my image all colored and matted and was just cutting the paper to use on the card, when suddenly I realized the image was stuck to the paper I was cutting and I cut right through it!  I just stuck them back together and will send it to another crafting friend who can probably relate to my accident!  I hate when stuff like that happens!

I used my usual coloring method - Copic markers and chalk on the sky.  The sentiment is computer generated.  I hope you have a great weekend!  I'll be back on Monday!

Get Happy

Hey everyone!  Is this week going by slow or what!?!  It sure feels like a Friday to me.  I really don't have anything new to report - I live such an exciting life!  So, let's just get on with my card

This cute image is one from Squigglefly drawn by Cheryl Grant Alger called Come On Get Happy.  I thought he looked like he was holding out his arms for a big hug, or maybe he's showing someone how much they're loved!  The latter is what I had in mind when I computer generated the sentiment.  I accented the word "this" with a Copic marker which is also what I used to color the image.  The sky was chalked (of course) and I stamped some grass sprigs.

Today is Tara's birthday, and I am excited to bring her the card I made and the doll I bought her.  She is really into dolls!  I got a cute school girl one that has glasses a really "cool" outfit on.  Have a great day!

By special request

Hi all!  Tomorrow is my boss's youngest daughter's birthday.  She will be 8 years old!  You know that she comes over to my office regularly, and she likes to color Squigglefly images too!  Well, a few weeks ago she saw this Daffodil Bunny image by Diane Carubia and she said "you use this image to make my birthday card!"  She has not failed to remind me that her birthday is February 20th!  LOL!

Anyway, I did her bidding and used the Daffodil Bunny for Tara's birthday card.

It's colored with Copic markers and chalk.  The butterfly is glittered because - well she's a girl and she's 8!

Who Is Having A Birthday?

Hello everyone!  Today's card is a birthday card I made with Fawn Palmer's
Hooo Love's Ya image.   Owls are so popular now, and I think these little guys with the hearts on their tummies are so cute.  Plus, the image comes with lots of fun sentiments so you can make cards for different occasions.

I colored the image with Copic markers and sponged around the sentiments.  I added a little bit of ribbon and some green dots.  Easy peasy, and another birthday card done!  I have finally started adding to my stash of cards, so maybe March won't be such a crunch for me!

We had spring like temperatures yesterday.  I think it got about 70 degrees.  I have to admit, it was nice for a change, but I am not ready for hot summer temps!  I hope you are all having a great day!  See you tomorrow!

Hello, hi, hey...

Hello everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Mine was just a normal, run of the mill weekend.  I got a few chores done, and I got my weekly cooking done, but there wasn't a lot of crafting going on.  I am playing along in Squigglefy's challenge because Kathy Bradley is still recovering from surgery.

The challenge this week is a really easy one if you are a fan of digital image - just use a digital image and sentiment!  I went with this new image from Fawn Palmer called Really.    She comes with three other sentiments, but I went with this universal "Hi".

She's is colored with Copic markers.  I embossed the card base and inked it to bring the embossing out.  The sentiment was die cut and then I punched a hole and tied it on with some embroidery floss.

I hope you will play along in Squigglefly's challenge this week too!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hello everyone, and happy Friday and Happy Valentine's Day to you too!  Today I am sharing the valentines I made for my boss's three kids

The image is called Will You Bee Mine and is by Pamela Lehto.   I colored them with Copic markers and added a little big of glitter and fun heart die cut border.  Here's a close up of one

They are each getting a small box of candy too.  Can you tell I love spoiling them?

I hope you all have a great Valentine's Day, and that you are able to spend it with your sweetheart.  I'll be back on Monday.  If you have time over the weekend - why not play in Squigglefly's challenge?  I don't think there's a winner yet!

Stacked Cups

Hi everyone!  Well, we are one day closer to Friday!  I've got a fun card to share with you today.

This fun image comes to Squiggley by way of Carmen Gamble.  It's called Stacked Cups.  I colored it with Copic markers and I computer generated the sentiment.  I did crop two of the cups from the image to combine with the sentiment just to add a little more interest.  I added some glitter to the steam coming out of the top cup.  This was a fun image to color - it just begs you to go wild with all kinds of color!
See you all tomorrow!

Wooly Heart

Hi everyone!  The snow they were calling for didn't come and so I was back at work.  I think that was probably our last chance for snow this winter, so I'm sorry it didn't pan out.  Oh well - maybe next year!

Monday's Greeting Card challenge at  the Outlawz is to make a valentine, and I played along with this cute little Sheep Heart from Squigglefly.  Carmen Gamble is the artist behind the image, and I just love the way she's tied the little heart up with string.   The sentiment is from a set called Sheepish Sentiments.  The set has five different cute sayings all having to do with sheep.

I colored the image with Copic markers, except for the sky which was chalked.  I also stamped some grass sprigs over the grass.  The heart border at the bottom punched out some cute little hearts that I attached on either side of the sentiment.

See ya'll tomorrow!

Special Delivery

Hi everyone.  Well the snow they were calling for yesterday didn't come. At the time of my writing this they are still calling for snow to come later tonight, but I  am not holding my breath!  If it comes then I will be one happy camper out playing my dogs, building a snowman, and making snow angels.  If it doesn't come, I will be at work just as happy - well okay maybe not quite as happy but happy all the same!

Today's card is one I made for the CAS challenge at the Outlawz and the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  The card I CASED is seen here.  Here is my card

The theme at the Outlawz was "Love is in the air", where you were supposed to make something up in the air.  I thought Fawn Palmer's Special Delivery set was perfect for this because the baby is hanging from a tree top in the air, and what do you love more than a little baby?

I colored the image with Copic markers, and the sentiment was colored with chalks while it was still in the die.  I embossed the clouds after I cut them out with some cloud dies.  Then I added some sparkle with glitter and a Quickie Glue pen.

I don't know anyone having a baby soon, but I figure with the color purple, I'm good to go no matter the gender of the baby!

Have a great day!

Can You Believe It - 3 whole cards to share!

Hi everyone!  I hope you had a good weekend.  We got some snow on Friday night, and a lot of Saturday was spent outside with the dogs.  Snow really fires them up, and it's so much fun watching them play in it.  The forecast calls for another round of snow moving in today, so I have found myself with the day off!  Some weathermen are predicting about 4 inches, but still others are saying as much as 7 inches!  I just hope it's enough to build a snowman and make snow angels!  If we do get snow, I will be sure to film the dogs playing in it.  They are such fun to watch.

I made this card for the Clean and Simple card challenge at the Outlawz last Sunday.  The theme of the challenge was to make a card for a male.  I thought Enid Barnes's wonderfully fierce and beautiful Tiger was just the thing!

The image was colored with Copic markers and I chalked a little yellow around the background.  The sentiment was computer generated.  Of course, this would be a perfectly fine birthday card for a female too!

Don't forget that a brand new challenge is on the Squigglefly Blog today!  The challenge is to make a square card.  I played along with TWO cards!  Both of my cards are also for the Featured Stamper Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.

This first card was really fun to make.  Since Kathleen has so many cards in her gallery that she sews on (including the one I CASED here), I decided to sew on mine.  I think this is the best my machine sewing has ever come out.  I went a lot slower this time, so maybe that helped!  Do they make clear presser feet for sewing machines?  I think that would make it much easier to see that I'm staying on the paper!
Anyway, the first card I CASED can be seen here, and here is my card

I used an image from Squigglefly called Jolly Birthday Penguin by Louise Gardner.  It's colored with Copic markers.  The sentiment is computer generated.  I added little orange rain dots on the scallops.

The next card I CASED can be seen here.  Here is my card

The image is one by Cheryl Grant Alger called Birdie Birthday Party from Squigglefly.   There is more to the image, but I cropped only the girl out so it would fit in the sketch.  It's colored with Copic markers and chalk.  Since I was making the square card, I was able to get two square ones from the same card stock, so I went with the same color combination on them both.

See you all tomorrow!

Don't Be Cruel or You'll Get Me All Shook Up

Hey Everyone!  Surprise!  I'm actually posting on a weekend!  I have just had such fun playing with the new Elvis image by Enid Barnes from Squigglefly that I wanted to share them with you.  I colored all of these with Copic markers and computer generated all of the sentiments.  The first one is a birthday card

This next one is for the Twisted Thursday challenge and Friday's Alcohol Marker challenge at the Outlawz which both have a Valentine theme.

And lastly another valentine which is for Saturday's Paper Ala Mode challenge at the Outlawz and Thursday's Way To Use It challenge (color something) at Splitcoast Stampers and Friday's Free 4 All challenge (valentines) also at Splitcoast Stampers.

On this last card I had a lot of trouble getting the die to cut all the way through in some spots.  In my efforts of adding shims I busted my cuttlebug!  I have had that thing for about 6 years and use it every single day!  I have since replaced it with a Big Kick, but I still miss my little bug.  You can see that one little piece didn't pop out, and you can also see some ragged torn areas where I had to use my craft knife.  Behind the picture of Elvis are whole areas that did not cut!  I have also ordered a metal shim which is supposed to help with these dies, so hopefully in the future these dies will look much better!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend!  See you tomorrow!

Snow Covered Tree

The Alcohol Marker challenge at the Outlawz last Friday was Anything Goes with an optional twist on a Christmas theme.  Since I'm trying to make Christmas cards throughout the year this year I chose to throw in the twist!  I combined two images by Pamela Lehto to create a little Charlie Brown tree.  The little Bare Tree looks so cute with the tiny Clear Ornament  dangling from the tip, doesn't it?

The image is colored with Copic markers and I chalked the sky.  I added a little bit of faux flower soft to the ground and the branches.  The sentiment is computer generated.  We actually had a little bit of snow yesterday that stuck to the trees which were already covered in ice, so this tree is pretty similar to what I see here in my own yard - minus the ornament of course!

Enjoy your weekend!

Terrier-ific Birthday

Hi everyone!  The Twisted Thursday challenge at the Outlawz last week was Anything Goes!   I chose to use this very dear to me image of Enid Barnes's called

As most of you know, I'm partial to this breed because I have one.  I colored this to match Riley's coloring.  The sentiment is computer generated and I added a cute little doggie paw print.  This is another quick card to make!  Have you seen all of the dogs that Enid Barnes has drawn for Squigglefly?  Your favorite breed may be among them!

Have a great day!

Make A Wish Fish

Hi everyone!  I got an unexpected day off of work yesterday due to an ice storm that moved through our state.  The trees are so pretty, and it was a great day for me to catch up on some things.  I got a lot of birthday cards addressed and ready to mail for the month, and I also mailed out a few valentines.  I haven't made many valentines so far this month, but at least I got a few out!

The card I'm sharing with you today is one I made for the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  You can see the card I chose from the gallery HERE.  For my card, I chose to use the fish from the Make A Wish Fish  set by Diana Garrison.

I followed the same sketch as the card I CASED and computer generated the sentiment.  I colored everything with Copic markers and added a bit of yellow stickles to the fish.  I also added crystal lacquer to the two little fish bubbles and then glued on some bubbles.  This is a pretty quick card to make, and I think it turned out really cute!

See you tomorrow!

A Party For Rose

Hi everyone!  It's time for another teapot party at Splitcoast Stampers!  This week we are all celebrating another teapotter's aunt's birthday - she is going to be 103 years old!  Her name is Rose, and we could bring roses but Rose is an artist herself, and she used to draw pictures of children holding flowers for cards.  So, we get extra cookies if we bring a child holding flowers - and I'm always up for more cookies!

This image is called Avery's May Flowers and is from Squigglefly by
Cheryl Grant Alger.  I colored her with Copic markers and chalked the sky and grass.  I then stamped some grass sprigs over the chalked area.
The sentiment is called Thinking Of You and is also from Squigglefly by
Charlene Mitchell.   I chalked the center part of the sentiment while it was still in the die, and then I sponged some orange ink around the edge.

Wishing you all a great day.  I'll be back tomorrow!

Pink & Red

Hi everyone!  It's Monday so that means there is a brand new challenge on Squigglefly's blog.  This week I'm playing substitute for Kathy Bradley.  Kathy is recuperating from a surgery and wasn't able to make a card this week.

The challenge is Pink and Red, and here is my card

The image I used is Valentine Cupcake Be Mine by Pamela Lehto.   This image is one of several that were just released on Saturday.  If you missed seeing all of the new images, go take a look!  There are some great ones.

I colored with with Copic markers and added some glitter to the frosting.  I kept the layout really simple and only added a heart shaped button as an embellishment.  Pamela Lehto has offered a freebie for us at Squigglefly called Mound Of Chocolate.  It's just in time for those sweet valentines you need to make!  You can find the freebie on Squigglefly's home page here.

I got lots of play time in this weekend, and I'm excited to show you all of the cards over the course of this week.  Have a wonderful day!
