news, and yes a card too

Well yesterday I got to meet my grandson face to face.  We had a perfectly fine visit.  I held him almost the entire time I was there.  He slept peacefully, and once opened his eyes and just stared at me wondering who on earth I was.  He is so precious, and has already stolen my heart.

I am going back next week to stay for the week and help out a little.  I already miss him!

In other news, I have a Christmas present that is arriving tomorrow - a Brother Scan N Cut!  I am really excited to get it, and I've been looking at every video tutorial I can find so I'll be prepared and ready.  Mostly I think I will use it to cut out die shapes and to cut around my digital images.  I have the original Cricut and just never liked it.  This machine looks to be really easy to use.  I will let you know!

Here is a card I made a while back.

The sweet image is from Squigglefly artist Sandra Caldwell called Bearly My Birthday  I added some clear little dots to the border that I made with a glue gun.  The image was colored with Copic markers.

My second card is another birthday card.  This one uses an image from Squigglefly artist Louise Gardner called Celebration Piggy.

I do have a few more cards I made over my time off for Christmas.  I will share those with you soon!

Jacob Bedon came into the world at 2:42 this afternoon!  He weighs 8 pounds 13 ounces.  I will be holding him for myself tomorrow!

Still No Baby

Well, I've waited to get the call that Jacob is on his way, but that hasn't happened.  So, later this evening Ashley will be checking in to the hospital to have her labor induced.  Her doctor predicts that Jacob will be be born tomorrow.  I was so hoping he would come on his own!    They would wait and let him come except that her company's insurance changes in January, and the hospital they have chosen will no longer be an option, so they have opted to have her labor induced instead of changing.

Thank you so much for all of the well wishes, and I will post pictures as soon as I received them!  I am so excited to see my new grandson, but I'm even more excited to see my daughter experience being a mama for the first time!  In the mean time, here are some pictures of the cute nursery they have ready for him.  If you look closely you will see the three pictures I have made.

Santa and two birds

Hi all!  I am still waiting and hoping for Ashley to call and tell me that she is headed to the hospital to become a mommy!  I've also been wrapping gifts and today plan on baking up some holiday treats to take to work tomorrow.

I wanted to share a couple more cards that I made recently.  This first one is a cute owl and sentiment that comes from Squigglefly and is drawn by Cheryl Grant Alger.  The owl comes from a set called Warm and Cozy and the sentiment comes from a set called Winter Fun.

I used Copics to color the image, but the sky was done with chalk.  I added a little rick rack for texture.  The only thing that bothers me about this is the sentiment - don't you think it should have an "s" at the end of sometime?

Here's another one I made using a Squigglefly image from Sandra Caldwell that I just think is so cute.  It's called Santa and His Birdie.

Everything was colored with Copic markers and I added some faux flower soft and made falling snow dots with white gesso.  Christmas cards are so much fun to make, but I didn't make very many this year.  Maybe now that I'm slowly getting back to making cards I will make them throughout the year so I'm not left empty handed next year!

Next time I post I may be a grandma!  I'll be sure to share pictures!

Flower cards

Hi everyone!  I'm back with a few more cards to share.  These all use the image by Joy Hall called My Mother My Friend from Squigglefly.  I colored each one with Copic markers and blended a little yellow ink with some white gesso to make the little yellow stamens.

The sentiment was done on my computer and just added to the image before printing.

Some cards

Hi everyone!  Well after my last post my computer died on me!  Luckily I had most of my important stuff backed up on an external drive, but I did lose my folder that had pictures of cards I had done to put on my blog.  Oh well, there's nothing I can do about it now.

It took a week for my new computer to come.  Stores don't have stockpiles of  computers anymore - they all have to order them.  I was really glad to have my laptop during that week.  I'm happy to say that the new computer came and gave me no trouble when installing my programs.

I had to go get a flu and TDAP vaccine because my daughter told me that the doctor said we needed to if we wanted to be around the baby when he is born.  I was fine the first couple of days, but the 3rd day the injection site of the TDAP swelled up, got red, and itched.  Then yesterday my shoulder really started hurting - range of motion in that arm is awful.  I don't know if it's related to the shot or not, but if it's not better soon I will be heading to the doctor.

Anyway, I have some cards to share!  The first one uses a brand new image from Squigglefly artist James Horvath called Raiding The Fridge.  This is pretty much what our house looked like the week after Thanksgiving only add one more dog and a cat!

The next few cards all use the same Squigglefly image, Ho Ho Ho Snowmen by Cheryl Alger.  I really enjoyed coloring these and adding glitter to the star.  It's also a nice change from the usual A2 sized card.  These would fit nicely in a business sized envelope.  You can get two cards from one sheet of card stock.  NOTE to Foofygirl who asked what size I made the image - This was sized to be about 6" long so I have about 1 1/4 inch on either side of the image.

I have a few more cards to share in the next couple of days.  My mojo is slowly returning and I am taking it slow!
