Flower Power

Hi everyone!  Today's Paper Ala Mode challenge is Flower Power!  Just use flowers on your project! Our sponsor is Beccy's Place.   Beccy is so talented and so generous - she has so many wonderful freebies that she gives away.  In fact, the flowers on my card are one of her freebies called Sunflower/Gerbera.

I printed three of the flowers onto kraft card stock and used colored pencils to color them.  I used white with a little touch of blue.  The sentiment is computer generated.  For some reason I always love to use twine with kraft, so I punched a couple of holes on either end, finished them off with some blue eyelets, and strung some twine though.  This was all mounted onto a light blue card.

I hope you'll play with us.  Your flowers don't have to be in the image, it can also be adding punched flowers, rolled card stock flowers, fabric flowers...whatever!

It's hard to not use color!

Good morning everyone, and happy Memorial Day weekend to you.  I am so happy to have this extra long weekend.  I only wish the weekend would seem as long as this past week has seemed!

Today the Paper Ala Mode Challenge at the Outlawaz is Shades Of Gray.  You can only use the colors black, white, and gray.  This was really hard for me!  I found out later that we could color on the skin, but I had already colored my image so I left it.

The sponsor of this challenge is Art By Miran and the image I used is called Venus

I used a stencil on the background and just sponged some white ink on to black card stock.  I like the velvet look it gave it.  Then I added some black rose ribbon trim on the side and cut one rose off and attached it to the corner of the image.  The final touch was a bit of sparkle in her hair.  I hope you will  step out of your comfort zone and come play along with us!

Star Spangled Day

Hi everyone!  What a wonderful weekend I had with my daughter and sweet little grandson.  I brought him a busy box, and he loved playing with it.  There were lots of smiles, giggles. and cuddles.  Also, I was there to see him roll over on his own for the first time!

Today I am once again happy to be guest designer at the Outlawz Greeting Card challenge.  Today's challenge is sponsored by Oddball Art Company

And the challenge is to use red, white, and blue on your card or project.  For my card I used an image called Penelope #3

I added some star embossing, and some red, white and blue star shaped buttons.  The sentiment was computer generated and I glittered the "Star Spangled" part.  I thought it would make a good card for someone who has a birthday on or near the 4th of July.

I hope you'll play along with us!

Sympathy Card

Unfortunately I had to make a sympathy card for my sister in law over the weekend.  She lost her mother the Friday before Mother's Day.  Again, I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest.

I got a piece of white card stock and I cut a circle out of some plain copy paper to use as a mask.  Then I stamped a background stamp over the copy paper letting the pattern come out as a circle.  I computer generated the sentiment and used a floral die cut on top.  Very simple, but so pretty I think.

I'm going to see my daughter and cute grandbaby tomorrow!  I'm bringing him a busy box to play with.  Those things are hard to find!  I couldn't believe how hard it was to locate what I was looking for.  Baby toys have changed so much - they all seem to be electronic these days.  I can't wait to see how much he's changed since I was there a few weeks ago.  Have a nice weekend!  I'll be back on Monday.

Floral Birthday Card

I saw a card on Pinterest the other day, and I really liked how she dotted the flowers she used, so I made this quick card and used a white gel pen to dot my flowers.  The flowers were cut out of red card stock and I used a black marker to make the centers.  Black brads or glitter would be pretty too.

The leaves are a stamp from some Stampin Up set I had, and the sentiment is computer generated.  I popped the flowers up a bit with a glue dot.  I like the way it turned out!

Baby Girl Card

A friend of mine recently had her 2nd grandchild, and this time it is a girl!  I had a lot of fun making this baby girl onesie card.

I think maybe the little pink buttons were supposed to be breast cancer awareness brads, but I turned them the other way around and they looked like little pink bunnies to me!  A bit of embossing and lace adds more cuteness factor, and of course the little white eyelets for the "snaps".

Mother's Day at the Outlawz

Today on the Greetings Challenge at the Outlawz we are sharing Mother's Day cards, and we want to see a flower added to your creation as well.  Our sponsor is Deedee's Digis and I have used images from the set called Blooming Blessings.

These images come both un-colored and pre-colored.  I opted to go with a pre-colored image because I have never done that before.  I love that the color I see on the screen is the exact color it printed out.  I made this card for my  best friend's mother.

I added some little paper flowers for dimension, and made some twirls from some green cardstock.  Lots of texture and dies used to dress it up a bit.

Also, at work on Friday a young man who works with me asked if I "had any mother's day cards laying around".  I chastised him for waiting until nearly the last minute, and then he said "I thought you just printed cards out on the computer."  I told him that I didn't just print cards out - I made cards.  Then I told him I could make his mom a card and asked him if he wanted it elegant, cute, funny, etc.  He said funny, which you know are my favorite kind of card to make!  So here is the card I made him to give his mom

The inside is the funny part, and really it's so this kids personality

When he picked it up he said it was "badass" which is good :)  I hope she likes it!

Two cards to share

Hi everyone and happy Mother's Day!  We've had a stormy, rainy weekend so far but I'm not complaining.  It beats a lot of hot sunshine in my opinion!

I thought I would share two random cards with you.  The first one was made for a challenge I joined where the theme was kissing.  I computer generated the sentiment.  I used some platinum embossing powder on the necklace, but it didn't turn out like I had envisioned.

The second card was one I made for a swap I joined where the theme was flowers.  The sentiment came with the image.

Not the Polka, but Polka Dots!

Hi everyone!  Today I am happy to announce that I am the guest designer for the Greetings Challenge at the Outlawz!  Their challenge this week is a fun one - Polka Dots!  Who doesn't love polka dots?
Their sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps and I used this simply adorable Ladybug Hello for my card.  I made an easel card!

I added some glitter to the butterfly and a little crystal effects to the ladybug.  The inside of the card has lots of dots made with a circle punch, and a little red flower to hold the easel up.  Since this image has the greeting built right in, it makes for a quick and easy card!  I hope you will play with us too!

How about a Paper Ala Mode challenge for Mother's Day?

Hi everyone!  I'm filling in for someone at the Paper Ala Mode challenge today.  The challenge is Mother's Day and our generous sponsor is Scrapbook Stamp Society.  I chose this adorable Gritty Giraffe to make a happy first mother's day card for my daughter.

The giraffe is extra special for her and her husband because they had a sweet little baby onesie that was covered in giraffes that they both really loved.  I know she will love this card.

I colored the image with Copic markers and computer generated the sentiment.  I think it turned out really cute.  I hope you'll play along with us!  Here's the link - Paper Ala Mode
