Paper Ala Mode says Run For the Border

Hi all!  Today's Paper Ala Mode challenge is to use borders on your project.  We are being sponsored by Crafts and Me.  They are a company I was unfamiliar with,  but I was really impressed with their selection of images.  I chose to use April Shower.

I paper pieced the umbrella and used chalk for my sky.  Everything else was colored with copic markers.  I even made the little flowers with my copics!  I used some glossy accents on the rain drops.  For my borders I used a small thin metallic thread to border the image, and then I punched a lacy border out of vellum to print the sentiment on to and ran it horizontally across the image.

I hope you all have a wonderfully blessed Easter weekend.  I will be spending it with my grandson and his family.  I am excited to bring him a little Easter basket and a magnetic chalkboard I made him.

To My Peeps

Instead of bringing three small Easter baskets for my boss's kids, this year I am bringing one big basket for the whole family.  This is the card I made for them.  I love how it turned out with the different colors of glitter.  This was a really fast card to make.  I used some black enamel to dot the eyes and noses back on after the glitter dried.

One Big Egg

Here's another Easter card.  This one was printed on copy paper and colored with the limited colored pencils I had at work.  I used a white gel pen on the dots on the egg and chalked the sky after I got home.

Silly Rabbit

Okay, I'm seriously laughing at my card now that I've uploaded it!  When I was coloring it, I thought the little chicks in the rabbit's hands were sitting in egg shells!  Now that I've upload it here I see those are his hands!  So, that's why his hands are blue in case you were wondering!

Oh well, I still think the card turned out cute.

Easter Bunny Hatches

Just making a few Easter cards this weekend.  Will be sharing more throughout the week.  Unfortunately I got a little bit of the orange distress ink on the bunny's cheek when I was sponging the edges of the scalloped die.  I do like orange and pink together!

Anything Goes at Paper Ala Mode

Paper Ala Mode's challenge this week is Anything Goes!  The challenge is sponsored by QKR Stampede and Dollar Graphics Depot.    I couldn't pass up this adorable Lounging Moose from QKR Stampede to make a belated birthday card.  QKR Stampede sells their images as both digital and rubber!

I used distress inks on the card and then spritzed on some water to make the lighter spots.  Then I added dots of tacky glue and used gold leaf flakes.  My image was colored with Copic markers, and then I used a rag in blender solution to get a little texture on the fur.  The moose was then cut out and popped up.  The sentiment is computer generated.

Easter at Paper Ala Mode

Hi everyone.  The Paper Ala Mode challenge at the Outlawz is Easter this week.  The sponsor is Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  I used their beautiful Christ Arose set to make this card.

The polished stone background was made using alcohol inks on Yupo paper.  I used blues, violets, and silver.

It has been raining all week long and is still misting today.  I have put off washing the dogs because of the messiness, but today they are getting a bath no matter what.  I also really need to sweep and mop the floors.  Spring has sprung here, and all of us are tracking in little seed things some tree always puts out this time of year.

I am making today my stay home chores and tomorrow I will do my grocery shopping and cooking.  I haven't come up with a meal plan yet!  Don't forget that tomorrow is daylight savings time - ugh!  I hate that!   Also I looked at our forecast for the next week and it's supposed to be 80 degrees Monday and Tuesday!  Yikes - not so warm so soon!

Well, I hope you all enjoy your weekend, and be sure to stop by Paper Ala Mode to share your Easter creations with us!

weekly menu and a card for book lovers

Hi everyone!  I had a really slow day at work today so I decided to print out an image and color it, but all I had with me was a handful of colored pencils.  I made do and colored a couple of images.  It's been a while since I used pencils to color, and I did find it fun!  I came home and created a card with them.  Here's the first one, and I'll share the other one tomorrow when the embellishments I added have time to dry.

I did my weekly cooking for the week yesterday.  Here is the menu for the week

Spaghetti with garlic bread
Chicken tenders, roasted potatoes and carrots
Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, peas
Chili dogs
Chicken cordon bleu, asparagus, wild rice
Scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and cinnamon toast
Pork chops, spinach, alfredo noodes
